PA RamParticipant
I still have to watch it. Just saw highlights but wow. Dominated them. That’s a butt whooping.
A special thanks to Jeffery Osborne and the power of positive thinking.
Loving it.

PA RamParticipantShould they lose, there is actually still hope.
Okay, okay. Nice try Zooey–good effort. That’s optimistic…I guess?
We’ll take it.
But maybe they win this one today.
Thread is getting brighter now. I like it.

PA RamParticipantThis hurts Tavon as well in terms of his future with the Rams. If Cooper becomes THE guy in kick returns and Tavon’s role diminishes–I can’t help but think he isn’t long for the team. I know that McVay says how important Tavon is even if he isn’t making huge plays–but I am not sure that role can’t be filled by someone else. The Rams will have decisions to make after the season regarding Watkins and Tavon.
They still owe Donald a huge contract. What about Johnson?
It has been great being deep at receiver for once. I’m not sure they can stay THIS deep and balance the salary cap.

PA RamParticipantWe know what the Rams advantages are. To me their big DISadvantage is the lingering tendency to make big mistakes instead of big plays in some of their close games.
Well–this was meant to be a thread of happiness and bright sunshine but since you’ve brought rain and wind(something that will be at the game today, by the way)I have to say that I agree with that statement. So far, that defines them in 2017 in most of the big games.
Maybe today is the day they DO make the big plays and limit the mistakes. They have to.
Season on the line.

PA RamParticipantDidnt he complain about his role earlier in the year though?
Yes–after Torry Holt opened his big mouth and said they weren’t getting him the ball. He has quieted down though and been a good soldier. Still–he’s no Robert Woods.

PA RamParticipantWhat makes this thing so vile is that the politicians who were bought off one by one this time did not do it to put jobs in their district or serve some infrastructure interest in their town. They did it for personal enrichment. When they dig through this thing and find all the single exemptions and perks that represent single individuals in many cases–it will expose this for what it was–a money grab.
These are horrible human beings.
Government service appears to attract the worst of the worst.
And they don’t care.
And they may even get lucky. The economy is booming along right now–having nothing to do with the tax cuts. If they get the growth they want they will claim it was ALL about the tax cuts and that they will have paid for themselves.
These are evil people.

PA RamParticipantI just can’t believe this is not a nationally televised game. The NFL wonders why it has some ratings issues but maybe it’s because crappy teams like the Dolphins are on every other week. On the other hand that may make for a slightly lower key game. Maybe it’s a good thing for the Rams.

PA RamParticipantI think it will be very important not to let the Seahawks get into their heads this week. Do NOT talk after each play–don’t take that extra shot–even if they are and aren’t getting called for it. Make it harder for the refs to beat you.
They may still make bad calls, and maybe a lot of them. But don’t give therm anything easy. They can’t afford it.You’re facing a hostile crowd on the road.
Don’t make it harder.
I can not believe that Bennett was not even fined this week.

PA RamParticipantThe FCC did not care about public comments by the way. And they did not hold public hearings because people were able to leave comments–about which they did not care.
Here is a commisioner who looks like a potato laughing about the whole thing:

PA RamParticipantThis was going to happen sooner or later.
They were just not going to give this up. Ever.
We can’t have nice things.
So now…let’s all pay our respects to the internet that was. We will miss it.

PA RamParticipantI think that it’s pointless reading political tea leaves.
Doug Jones won against probably the worst kind of candidate a political party can nominate. And he won by about 20,000 votes. He BARELY got by–and that was against a guy who picked up teenagers at the mall when he was in his thirties. The Dems won this because Roy Moore was a horrible candidate. They did not win Alabama on issues.
New Jersey was easy. A horrid governor in Cristie. A northeast state. Yeah–shoulda won.
Virginia has been sort of moving blue anyway. Clinton even won there over Trump.
The Dems have far more senate seats to defend. They probably will not flip that. There are 25 Democrats running vs. 8 Republicans. There are only two Republican states that really seem in play: Nevada and Arizona.
On the other hand, Missouri, West Virginia, and Indiana are big question marks for the Dems.
They’d have to flip 25 seats in the House. Maybe. But not easy.
I’m not sure I’m buying into this feeling of hope by some on the left that a sort of tsunami will sweep through and wipe out Republicans in 2018.
Hey–it’s great that Roy Moore lost. Maybe there is a line some people won’t cross when it comes to politicians. But it was close.
I don’t take Ann Coulter very seriously. She strikes me like a lot of the others–a WWE act.
I don’t think that Roy Moore lost Alabama because he was for open borders or wasn’t screaming about “the wall” enough. And he did not lose as a rejection of Trump. He lost because he was a horrible candidate.

PA RamParticipantThe Eagles were the better team on that day.
The better team finds a way to win.
The Rams found a way to lose.
But the Rams can certainly beat them. And without Wentz I REALLY like their chances. But gotta get there first.
And that starts this weekend.
There won’t be even a chance for a rematch if they don’t beat the Seahawks. I truly believe the season is on the line.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantI’m happy that the Rams will be going in fairly healthy. Yes–they don’t have Webster but everyone else should be a go.
I don’t know if they can beat the Seahawks. It will be tough. They’ll be fighting a desperate team in the loudest stadium in the league and the refs calls will probably be tilted for the home team(so it’s important not to get the dumb stuff).
But if you want to be the champ you have to beat the champ.
So there it is.
Go get it. Take it.
We will see if they have it in them.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantBut these won’t be the Jeff Fisher Foles and Keenum.
They are new men.
I’d take Keenum over Foles though.

December 11, 2017 at 12:07 pm in reply to: Michael Bennett’s dirty play may lead to suspension #78738PA RamParticipantI dunno. I dont think thats enough injuries to the Seahawks. I was hoping for more.
I think that Russell Wilson should be suspended for this game.
I saw him on more than one occasion give the Jags players a dirty look. There is no room for that in the NFL.

December 11, 2017 at 11:34 am in reply to: Michael Bennett’s dirty play may lead to suspension #78733PA RamParticipantPretty soon the NFL will be holding street tryouts to replace all of the injured and suspended players in the league.
I’ll play cornerback. I’m tall–pretty good wingspan. A bit slow and unathletic. Just give me help over the top.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantWentz played a great. He was getting creamed yet still made plays. I’m surprised he lasted that long in that game.
I already had an incredible amount of respect for Carson Wentz. That just increased today. What a competitor. But if he’s going to be a running quarterback–these are the risks he will take.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantIll tell you one thing: McVay needs a much better 1 second left on the clock no time outs, 75 yards to get a touchdown play. That thing sucked.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantWell, gentlemen: that absolutely sucked.
A few things I want to get off my chest.
It was a great game between two very good teams. Someone had to lose.
I was disappointed in a couple of things.
The refs were a bit ridiculous. That call on Trumaine Johnson was a joke. That led to the Eagles getting a touchdown.
Other penalties were stupid. Like Ekubam diving into the player.
But honestly–the Rams D-line was held all day. It wasn’t a great ref crew.
The defense was just gassed at the end. I was surprised that Foles did not screw things up but he did just what he had to do. Credit to him.
The big disaster though. The thing that really cost the game was the Goff fumble. And that shows that he just isn’t quite THERE yet. He didn’t have that clock that sped things up when he was under that pressure. His awareness was a bit lacking. Hey–he did okay today. And honestly, some of the play calling seemed a bit goofy at times. Why go deep there at all? I get being aggressive but…anyway.
This team misses Robert Woods. He’s better for them than Watkins. There is no way Watkins is getting a big contract here. He can’t justify it.
Kupp was fantastic today. What a rising star.
I worry about the injuries and how much this game took out of the team as they go to face Seattle next week. That is probably the game that decides the division. In fact, if the Rams lose I’m pretty sure they won’t even make the playoffs. They are not getting that other wild card. That will be Saints/Falcons/Panthers.
They need more depth–particularly in the secondary–and they need better edge rushers. Quinn got there–it’s true–but his health is always a concern. They need a stud there.
Hey–it is what it is.
Next week is a MUST win. Lose it and I think they miss the playoffs.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantVikings/Panthers. We want the Vikings to win that one–I think. I mean–yes–on one hand–if the Rams keep winning they have the potential to lock up home field throughout the playoffs.
On the other hand if the Falcons/Saints/and Panthers finish with 11 wins and the Rams stumble, they may find themselves out of the playoffs altogether.
I’d rather lock up the playoff spot.
Go Vikings?

PA RamParticipantI seriously am thinking about leaving for another country. It isn’t feasible for another decade, or so, because I still actively support a family, but I don’t want to live in a fascist country which has totally dismantled every government program except the military, and has these hateful racist divisions. Seriously, fuck this.
Nice idea. I think I’m too old for that–and my kids are here. Plus you gotta have money in a lot of cases to even get taken into another country. I’m here for the long haul. That’s just my reality. And this is in many cases a world problem too. Power wants more. Here and everywhere else. I’m not really sure how you fight it. How do you change it?
Poor people scream into the wilderness.
It changes little.
I will always vote–as long as I can–and HOPE that the machines are not rigged. I’ll donate to the causes I see as important to try to amplify what little voice I have. But beyond that I will try to just watch those sunsets. And try not to think about it every day. I can’t change the world. I can try to change how I think about it every day. It’s a low bar. But until something changes I just don’t see much else.

December 9, 2017 at 10:33 pm in reply to: Why The Poorest County In West Virginia Has Faith In Trump #78614PA RamParticipantPolitics as a religion is effective at controlling votes but very dangerous as well.
Any clear thinking person understands that the only thing Trump worships is money. And yet–if he can cling to some sort of persecuted religious image(aided by religious charlatans) he becomes more than just another politician.
That’s a scary thing.

December 9, 2017 at 9:03 pm in reply to: Why The Poorest County In West Virginia Has Faith In Trump #78608PA RamParticipantThey are tired of promises not kept by politicians. But at the same time if a politician tries to tell them the truth, that politician loses their vote. They cling stubbornly to a past that offered them prosperity even though they can never return to that time. It isn’t forward looking it is backward looking–and who can blame them? The forward looking doesn’t look so great. Amazon? Google? What would they really offer them compared to what they once had with the coal industry in terms of wages? They would more likely be exploited for cheap labor.
These people seem tired and beaten.
I get it. The Democrats have done a crappy job helping them when they held power. The Republicans are worse.
They HAVE to have faith in empty promises. It’s all they have.
This didn’t even touch on any of the cultural trigger points like guns and abortion that is used to control their votes as well.
It’s a shame. Who can feel good about the state or direction of this country right now?
True–the majority of Americans rejected Trump. But somehow that’s empty consolation.
As Zooey noted in the previous topic–power is consolidating power. Majority opinion seems to have very little value these days.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantI agree with Zooey.
I have killed my Facebook account. I have no time for ridiculous back and forth that leads no where. Or complete apathy. Hey–whatever.
Writing or calling my gerrymandered district congressman who simply can’t lose an election anyway? Yeah–no hope there.
Screaming at Pat Toomey’s office when he just won re-election and is safe for another five years and really just has to shout “sanctuary cities” next time again and nothing else will matter?
We have a large part of the population who can’t be bothered to care and another part who believes the narrative sold by the right–who very effectively has cast their fictions as fact and any unbiased truths as “fake”.
There is a divide now that is pushed by the power brokers. The last thing they really want is a UNITED state.
I do think it is pretty much “game over”. Look at the damage Trump has done in one year. He has at least three more and he’s stuffing the court with lifetime appointees that are there to represent power.
I try not to think about it a lot.
No sense getting depressed over something out of my control.
Like Carlin said–grab a seat and watch the show.
That’s all we have,

PA RamParticipantThey had to do a walk through on Weds instead of practicing, but then were back to outdoor, pads on practicing by Thursday.
Not one of the stories on this gives any indication that any Rams players live in the areas that were in jeopardy.
Hold on my “everything is rainbows and lollipops” friend. The report on Thursday’s practice was that the winds were making things very difficult for the quarterbacks. You just think about THAT my friend. You just think about THAT! Then tell me how you sleep at night.

December 6, 2017 at 1:35 pm in reply to: fires, air quality force Rams to cancel Weds. practice #78482PA RamParticipantI think I saw that the Eagles were staying in SoCal this week so they wouldn’t have to make trips to the west coast on consecutive weeks. If so, does anyone know if they are dealing with the same issue.
I heard they were practicing at Anaheim stadium so I don’t think it’s an issue there.

December 6, 2017 at 12:03 pm in reply to: fires, air quality force Rams to cancel Weds. practice #78480PA RamParticipantExactly PA. I wish this game was in Philly.
In fact, i wish the rams would just move to Philly and change their colors to green and white.
If this game goes south quick we will just have to pretend that the Rams are really the Eagles and that will put us in a happy place. If I have to pretend my way to victory then by God I will do it. I will NOT ruin my weekend.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantSo they said that the Rams use the 11 personnel grouping about 70 percent of the time. I had to look up what that means. So apparently that means they use one tight end and three wide receivers most of the time–with one running back. That seems right. Interesting.
