I heard that Mason and Battle were inactive because they missed the bus to the plane?
Seems like the whole team missed the bus.

PA RamParticipantWell, that was brutal.
But not surprising. The Rams offense is about as ugly as an offense can be. If it was a fish it would be a hagfish or a goblin shark.
The Rams o-line is a mess with injuries and Greg Robinson, who was expected to be the strength of the unit by now still can’t figure out who to block.
It’s no shock that Keenum didn’t play well. I’m not sure he belongs on an NFL roster. Unfortunately with Keenum in the game there was still no noticeable drop-off in performance from Foles.
I’ve had enough of Legatron. The blocked XP was not going to be good anyway. It looked like he hit it too far to the left. And once again he comes up short (actually wide right) in the clutch.
Great defensive effort for the most part. Unfortunately by the time they get this pathetic excuse for an offense squared away the defense will need to be rebuilt.
Hagfish
Goblin sharkThat’s my fear: by the time they get a decent offense–not great just decent–they’ll have to rebuild the defense. Years of misery ahead. So glad I lived to see them get a ring.

Sounds like I didn’t miss much.
Just terrible.
This team will be lucky to win two more games.

That is all.

Not while the offensive line is doing “Cotton eye Joe” and it’s a new line of dancers every time you blink.
I suspect Baltimore will just line up to stop Gurley and see if Keenum has any better luck than Foles.

"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantI am left asking–once again–what IS this team?
Are they good? Are they turning the corner? Are they almost there? Are they really frauds? Have they just been lucky in some games? Are they just the .500 club they’ve been for awhile?
What ARE they?
They certainly don’t appear to be moving forward. They aren’t really moving back.
They just seem stuck in…this–whatever THIS is.
They can be great. They can be awful.
They can beat a great team. They can lose to bums.
What they are is inconsistent and that’s the only thing consistent about them. But even that won’t last because the defense can’t hold together forever–waiting for the companion offense to be ready. They will age–they will want more money…they will get hurt. It will change.
In the meantime the offense is how far away? And when they get there where will the defense be? Are we spinning plates?
I don’t know.
But I’d love for Super Hans from the great British T.V. show “Peep Show” to give them the following valuable pre-game advice(Tip: it also works for shrooms).
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantThey’d better work on the silent count because I’m guessing Bears fans will take over the dome.
No matter.
Rams should win this thing as they “tweak” the offense just a bit. When Welker is in they’ll throw over the middle. When he isn’t they won’t. The defense will never catch on.
I’m hoping Quinn plays because they didn’t get much pressure last week. And they gotta get pressure on Cutler because he’s got some good receivers to throw to and basically, Jay doesn’t give a crap–he’ll throw it.
Having said all of this–Bears still have to stop Gurley and the Rams defense is pretty stingy with points.
Rams win it.

PA RamParticipantBernie M. said on one of the broadcasts that he checked stats for 3rd down conversions and he could only go back to 1972 and since that time–the Rams have the WORST third down conversion percentage. In other words–as far back as that stat goes–the Rams are the worst. That’s all-time kind of futility.
Not good.

Rams remain last in 3rd-down conversion rate (23.8%); they have converted only 24 off 101 third downs into first downs this season.Jim Thomas @jthom1 9m9 minutes ago
Foles ranks 27th in passer rating (79.7), 28th in 3rd-down passing (62.9), and 31st in 4th-quarter passing (71.6).Jim Thomas @jthom1 12m12 minutes ago
Rams move up to 5th in total defense following Minnesota game, but are 31st in total offense and 32nd in passing offense.zn: And Jim watches them so he knows this is true too: they’re a mess because they are young and have not come together yet, BUT even given that they make enough big plays to be in games.
: We would burn all the sage in the universe to have gotten even that much in 2009 or 2011.
So ironically, the Rams are low in a lot of passing stats…yet 16th in points.
That is something that has to be explained. How can it be both.
Well, it’s the “young and struggling and not coherent but can make big plays and be in games” factor.
Which may make it one of the worst Rams offenses in terms of YARDS…but far from REALLY being one of the worst offenses. This one is just not together yet. Which means it CAN come together, though I ain’t promising when.
I think wv is mostly concerned about the “passing” offense though. A lot of the big plays are actually running plays. While the offense as a whole may indeed make bigger plays–the passing offense is somewhat miserable. Take away Gurley and Tavon’s runs and how does it look? How would it look if defenses were actually playing the pass and not having to stack the box because of Gurley’s threat? It should be easier but it just looks horrible. That’s what’s frustrating. And yes it’s many things but I don’t think they’ve gotten what they wanted out of Foles yet. Hopefully they will.

Just off the top of my head, it was worse in 2009 and 2011.
This one fails to consistently get yards but makes plays in spurts.
Former ones didn’t even do THAT. They just failed to get yards.
That’s because this one isn’t a collapsed and broken offense like in those years. This one is a struggling offense that has the ingredients to get better.
For example look at the point differential.
2009: Rams 10.9 v. 27.25
2011: Rams 12 v, 25.4
2015: Rams 19.1 v. 18.25The difference again being that the 2 previous years represent complete collapse (mostly from injuries but also from personnel issues).
This one ranks low statistically but manages to make some big plays. But it is low statistically not because it is damaged, but because it is young and inexperienced as a unit, without the kind of cohesion they need, but which will come later.
Those offenses did not have Austin and Gurley on the roster–two explosive playmakers.
It should be better.
Yes there are line issues but the QB issues are big too. Foles HAS to play better. And no–I’m not forgetting the dropped passes. The receivers need to keep their heads in the game.

PA RamParticipantIt is very hard to watch. I have no confidence anytime Foles tries to pass. I’m thinking more of hoping he doesn’t throw a pick than anticipating it will be anything positive.
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. " Philip K. Dick
PA RamParticipantSo if Foles is the weak link–if he has hit is ceiling and this is it–this is what we’ll get week in and week out–inability to convert 3rd downs, 3 and outs, no real confidence from the coach–limits on where he will throw the ball–what does that mean?
If his strength is a game manager–not a guy who loses games–well, maybe that is not enough.
Maybe part of being a “game manager” is at least the ability to convert more third downs. And even his “game management” skills can be questioned really.
So what is Foles? What have we got? Is this it? Is it enough?
Must we wait another year to give him more time in the offense? Will that make it better? Better play by the line? Better receivers?
I mean–I don’t know.
Chip Kelly obviously did not believe in Foles–what did he see? Or not see?
I don’t have answers–just questions today.

The secondary for the Rams is very underrated.

PA RamParticipantThe most embarrassing part of that commercial is the voiceover.
———————-
No the embarrassing part is his performance of “Im a little Tea-pot.”
Back in the early 80’s when i was majoring in Elementary Education,
i had a music class, and I had to perform I’m a little Teapot,
and Eensy Weensy Spider (also known as Itsy Bitsy Spider).I am not impressed with Gurley’s performance. It
lacked enthusiasm and the proper gestures. You have to “BE” the Teapot.
w
vThat’s very impressive, wv.
If you could film that for us today and put it on the board I’m sure we’d all like to compare performances. In fact maybe we can have a “Teapot” dance-off with the board regulars and a panel of judges consisting of me and lyser and Mac will secretly convene to laugh…er… decide the winner.
Pie for the winner. Oh–and tea, of course.

Mine are from pro football reference

I get a different set of rankings from

That’s all well and good but who is going to win?
I went with a tie–17-17. I have no fear making this type of prediction. It has happened with these two teams twice before.

November 3, 2015 at 9:15 am in reply to: Prediction thread – Minnesota Vikings – out of doors #33450PA RamParticipantMinnesota has not lost yet at home.
They are
DEFENSE
9th on defense
2nd in points allowed
8th in passing defense
10th in sack percentage
15th in rushing defense
OFFENSE
29th on offense
21st in scoring offense
5th in rushing yards
30th in passing
28th in sack percentage (ie. sacks allowed)
Our stats seem to have some slight disagreements. 9th in total defense? I have 7th for the Vikes.
I got my stats from NFL.Com–the OFFICIAL stat site for the NFL. Where did you get yours from–a box of Cracker Jacks?
I haven’t used that line since I was ten years old. Some things just don’t get old.
Anyway–if you’re going to post all those stats you need to step out with a prediction. Don’t be scared.
I went with the Rams: 20-17.

November 3, 2015 at 9:02 am in reply to: Prediction thread – Minnesota Vikings – out of doors #33448PA RamParticipantThis game is like two Mike Tyson clones boxing each other.
Rams are 6th in overall defense–Vikes are 7th.
Vikes are 9th against the pass–Rams are 10th.
Rams are 9th against the rush–Vikes are 15th.
Vikes are 29th in total offense—Rams are 30th.
Vikes are 30th passing the ball—Rams are 32nd.
Rams are 3rd in rushing—Vikes are 5th.
Vikes played the Broncos tough–Rams played the Packers tough–both lost.
So….this SHOULD end in a tie.
However, the Vikings always bring a sinking feeling to my gut. The last three contests have been blowouts for the Vikings. Maybe their horns have more power than Rams horns–I don’t know. But I never like playing them–and this goes back to the 70s.
Vikes own a 20-14 all-time series lead with 2 ties.
Flip a coin on this one on a neutral field. Since the Vikes are at home I have to give them the edge.
20-17 Vikes win.
I hope I’m wrong.

Rams have more than one passing touchdown in one game this season (Cardinals, Week 4)—————————————————————————————————————–
Even Fisher is scared of the passing game. He’s more concerned they’ll screw up than do something right. Their own coach doesn’t have much confidence in it–no matter what he says. And sadly, he’s probably right.
