nittany ramModeratorNo it isn’t. Far from it. When your models do not work don’t claim success. When your models don’t work with cherry picked data then you should expect your funding to dry up. Which it will when Trump is president.
bnw, I’ll give you this. Unlike Trump, I truly think you don’t believe in climate change. I don’t think Trump really believes climate change is a hoax. He just doesn’t care that it’s happening. He is more concerned with profits than averting environmental disaster. That’s why he will declaw the EPA and defund all clean energy research. So you, unlike Trump, have integrity. You believe what you are saying. You are dead wrong, 😉 but at least you are a man of conviction. Trump has no conviction. His only concern is his bottom line. He’s really not worthy of your admiration.
But that’s just my opinion.
nittany ramModeratorI got nuthin’.
And I think any sparse benefits will surely be overshadowed by all the disasters.
I mean, Hitler signed the ‘Reich Nature Protection Act’ that saved several endangered animal species from extinction including the Eurasian lynx.
Funny how that’s never the first thing that comes to mind when I think about his impact on the world though.

Yeah, we’re rapidly approaching the falls. The final outcome has pretty much already been decided. The only question left is how soon do we get there. I’ll continue to paddle against the current but it’s important to look up and appreciate the view every now and then. It’s very easy to get consumed by this stuff. It gets me very angry. I know I come off as some arrogant inflexible left-wing asshole to a lot of people (not here. I know I am beloved here 😉 ). I have lost friends over this and I’ll probably lose some more. It hurts but I can’t help myself. It’s that important to me. But in reality we have very little control over these events and those to come so it’s important to maintain some perspective and remember to focus on the good things in our lives.
nittany ramModeratorThe Rams will burn the Jets like a book in wv’s oven.
nittany ramModeratorya know. my guess is humans will eventually just make their way off this planet and infect the entire galaxy.
i like your thinking, but we’re too primitive a species to be able to do that.
robots on the other hand…
Unfortunately invader, humans will be extinct long before we have that capability. There’s no place to go. There’s no lifeboat. Our only option is saving this planet. We do that or we die.
nittany ramModeratorI think it’s telling that the only climate skeptics on earth are in this country and in the Republican Party. As stupid as denying the evidence is, I could almost admire their tenacity if not for the fact that they couldn’t care less if climate change was happening or not. These are not deeply principled men sticking by their guns, they are greedy fucks that are willing to unleash an environmental catastrophe so as not to dampen their profits.
nittany ramModeratorIs it too late for the meteor?
It could still come, right?
The rest of the world should be arming itself.
nittany ramModeratorAll programs researching alternative energy sources will be gutted. Roe v Wade will be overturned. Science funding will be gone. Planned Parenthood will be gone. The irony is that Planned Parenthood prevented way more abortions than it performed. More teen pregnancies, more abortions only now they’ll be the back alley variety which means higher morbidity and mortality and an increase in medical costs. Privatization and development of publicly held lands, millions losing their healthcare coverage, civil rights legislation overturned. At times Trump has said he supports and has said he doesn’t support Affirmative Action so who knows what will happen with that…
There are no silver linings here. If he appoints 4 SC justices this country will be set back 100 years and likely won’t recover in our lifetimes.
I agree with all the above, and WV’s comments. Yep. The only silver lining is the end of the Clinton dynasty.
But the know-nothings are now in charge of all three branches of government, and you can bet they’re going stack the courts all across the country as well as SCOTUS.
If I had the money to do so, I’d leave right now in a heartbeat for Europe. I’m still hoping to retire there in a few years.
We’ve now entered what may be known as the anti-intellectualism era of American history.
If there was a god I’d be praying for it to save us at this point.
nittany ramModeratorWhat’s Nova Scotia like? I always thought that would be a nice place to live. Pictures I’ve seen of the Maritimes are beautiful.
So what’s the housing sitch there? 😉

I am at a Trump rally in Manhattan, and thousands are chanting “We hate Muslims, we hate blacks, we want our great country back”. Disgusting
nittany ramModeratorI dunno. Lets see…they are 3 and 5……i guess i see three more wins. Fisher was right. No more 7-9 bullshit.
at jets Win
miami Loss
at saints Win
at pats Loss
atlanta Loss
at seattle Loss
SF Win
Arizona LossI dont like this team.
Have i mentioned that. I dont like it.
w
vJets should be a good shot at a W…they barely outlasted Cleveland.
Miami should also be a legit shot at a W. Their O is almost as out of synch as is the Rams…might be a 6-3 ball game.
Saints game is gonna be a rematch of the Lions game with a different outcome.
Pats and ATL both are gonna be a longshot to pull off.
Seattle is struggling…they just brought Percy from his couch…it is winnable but will be a fight…could go either way.
SF and AZ both wins6-2 the rest of the way.
I doubt they’ll go 6-2 but I agree that most of them are winnable games.
And nobody, not even the Pats ‘wants’ to play the Rams. Even if they think they will likely win the game, they still don’t want to play them. I think in our misery we forget that this team isn’t a pushover. They could beat almost anybody, and even in the games they don’t win they usually manage to beat the hell out of the other team.

#Rams Fisher in changing QB’s “I don’t think Case’s play today was indicative of raising the question”Joe Curley @vcsjoecurley 13m13 minutes ago
Fisher supported Keenum in postgame presser. Said loss wasn’t on him. Said he didn’t hear chants for Goff. @CVRamsClub #CARvsLAFisher has developed a blind spot with Keenum.
At this point it shouldn’t matter if the loss doesn’t solely fall on him.
He may not be the reason they’re losing, but he’s not helping them win either.
Start another QB. I would prefer that it be Goff because he is the future – I mean, obviously they didn’t see Mannion as the future or they wouldn’t have traded away next year’s draft for Goff, right?
But start another QB. Mannion, Goff, somebody.
And this isn’t a knock on Keenum. I like him as a back-up QB and would like to have him back next season. But he isn’t the right QB for an offense that has to rely solely on the QB to move the ball.
Goff has those kinda skills. Let’s see what he can do. And nobody is expecting Goff to shine. Personally I expect he’ll be really inconsistent. He’ll likely look really bad at times but we’ll also see flashes of what he can/will be. The playoffs are gone so I don’t see a downside to the kid playing now.
————–
Well we are ALL kinda screwed right now. Keenum isnt good enough to win without a running game. Goff is not good enough to win without a running game and he might get kilt out there with so many third and longs.
And Fisher obviously cant fix the running game this year or he woulda done so by now.
Ram fans are in for some dull, ugly football this year. Year five.
w
vI don’t think Keenum is getting killed though. He gets sacked but I don’t think he’s under constant pressures like Bulger was. I don’t think Goff will get hit a lot unless he holds the ball too long – which rookies sometimes do, but Goff taking too many hits isn’t a big worry for me.

nittany ramModeratorSo, why couldnt they beat a mediocre team at home, after a bye, in a must-win game ?
w
vWell the Panthers may not be a mediocre team. It is essentially the same team that went to the Super Bowl last season. It looked like they got their groove back last week against the Cards. But the Rams have failed to live up to everyone’s expectations including Fisher’s. At some point he has to be held accountable.
nittany ramModeratorI didnt think they’d be able to run on Carolina, but i expected an ugly win by the Rams.
At home, rested after a bye, relatively healthy, playing a mediocre team, in a Must Win game. And the D gets Zero turnovers, and the O only has a field goal with thirty seconds to play.
At this point, comrads, i would not pick up Fisher’s contract. I would like to see a change next year. It wont happen, but I would like to see a change.
w
vYeah I’m not sure this coaching staff knows how to fix this offense. They badly misjudged this offense’s ability in the offseason. The oline can’t block, Gurley isn’t Gurley and Keenum isn’t the kind of QB that can make those around him better.
nittany ramModeratorWell the playoffs are gone. Might as well start Goff. Manion may be more ready but obviously he’s not their guy or they wouldn’t have traded next year’s draft for Goff.
nittany ramModeratorMissed FG. Rams needed that. Hard to see the Rams offense coming back from 2 scores down.
nittany ramModerator<span class=”d4pbbc-font-color” style=”color: blue”>Go for it.</span>
Throw the percentages out the window when it comes to the Rams. They are now 2 for 8 on 4th down. I’m guessing thats well below the league avwrage

nittany ramModeratorHard to imagine a scene like this in the Hamptons, isn’t it?
Originally the pipeline was supposed to go just north of Bismarck but that plan was abandoned because of fears it would poison the city’s water.
Bismarck is 92% white.
The Standing Rock Sioux never had a chance.

Another issue: The FB(facebook)ization of media, news, information. Heard a discussion on BBC radio this morning, caught just waking up. So I didn’t get all of it. But it hit me as one of those “duh” things, and provoked more thought beyond what they were saying.
Algorithms. Riffing off the Netflix idea of personal likes and dislikes generating suggestions for other films and TV, etc. We’re heading toward a day when the only sources we consume will be on our likes list, or those the algorithms suggest. Which obviously means folks will build their own little bubbles, and won’t venture beyond them.
The Black Mirror series sorta touches on this stuff.
One aspect of the Facebook-ization of media that is really disconcerting is the endless list of agenda driven “news” producers that inundate news feeds with bogus stories. Seems like there are thousands of them representing libertarian, tea-party, conservative and liberal viewpoints and most of their ‘news articles’ or memes are patently and sometimes ridiculously false yet they are swallowed up like a Gino’s cheesesteak as the truth. And these fictional articles are being paraded around as proof in social media political arguments. It’s frightening how easily people are duped by this stuff. Whenever I see one of these shared stories in my newsfeed I just post the snopes.com refutation and move on.
People are just not willing to view a claim with a discerning eye when it supports their belief system no matter how ridiculous it is.
nittany ramModeratorI would very much like to have Keenum back next year as a back up.
