December 18, 2016 at 3:03 pm in reply to: Jeff Fisher ‘caught off guard’ by Rams firing | FOX NFL KICKOFF – Video #61290
nittany ramModeratorYou might wonder how could he be caught off guard by his firing given the circumstances, but remember Fisher consistently said that Stan understands the situation and that they are on the same page. They probably were for a while but the blowout losses, the dissatisfaction of the fans, the Dickerson saga, the leaking of the extension, etc became too much.
nittany ramModeratorOf the names being bantered about I like Shanahan and Shaw the best, although I am having to supress a deep seeded revulsion to the possibility of anyone named Shaw being associated with the Rams again.
I could live with Gruden too. The rest of the names don’t trip my trigger.
December 17, 2016 at 11:06 am in reply to: Bleacher Report on coaching changes, says the Rams are targeting McDaniel #61258
nittany ramModerator<span class=”d4pbbc-font-color” style=”color: blue”>I am not a fan of McDaniel. Besides he cheats. I hate that.</span>
I agree. I think McDaniel would be a disaster.
December 17, 2016 at 10:19 am in reply to: Bonsignoritorial: Rams providing little support for Goff #61247
nittany ramModeratorVinnie doesn’t like the idea of exposing Goff to so much punishment in meaningless games. Fair enough.
But something tells me if Goff wasn’t playing he’d be complaining about how the Rams are inhibiting his development by not starting him.
nittany ramModeratorI will remember that I am a Rams fan and this is what we do. We suffer hardships that would destroy fans of any other team. We endure soul crushing defeats as a matter of routine.
So after the Rams are swept by a 9’ers team whose only two victories will be against them I’ll just smirk and say: “Shit, is that all ya got? I remember when the Rams lost to the 49’ers even though their entire team was sick with the flu…”
nittany ramModeratorThere’s nothing wrong with Goff that can’t be attributed to being a rookie on a bad team. If/when the Rams are able to put talent around him you’ll be amazed at all of the instincts he suddenly possesses.
December 17, 2016 at 8:17 am in reply to: informal poll — Donald and Gurley not acting like leaders? #61226
nittany ramModeratorThe Rams have always been such a young team under Fisher so they never had a lot of veteran leadership. They released the only true leaders on the team prior to season in Long and Lauranitis. I think part of the recent collapse is due to nobody filling that leadership void.
nittany ramModeratorWill we still be alive to see our Rams win another Super Bowl? Just wondering.
Yes the mods will let you live another couple of years. Just to watch the team win their next superbowl.
.
We’re not going to let *everyone* live though, right?
I mean, you promised…
December 16, 2016 at 12:44 pm in reply to: Janoris Jenkins: Rams players aren’t allowed to speak to Kroenke #61195
nittany ramModeratorGuys, I personally don’t care if the owner is criticized, I personally have no need to defend him, and when a story like this comes out you don’t just shoot it down. You add it to the mix of info. Add all the other tidbits up and you get a picture of the owner, and to me it’s not flattering. Not that I care. I follow a team not an owner.
Having said that, I can’t imagine a world where players are told NOT ever to talk to the owner. Weird.
And it;s not like the 31 other owners AREN’T busy too.
.
What you say is all true but I’m not convinced JJenks was really told he couldn’t speak to the owner if he saw him walking through the locker room. Kroenke has been the owner a while now and I haven’t heard that from any other former player.
December 16, 2016 at 10:05 am in reply to: Janoris Jenkins: Rams players aren’t allowed to speak to Kroenke #61181
nittany ramModeratorI don’t have an issue with it. Kronke may have social issues. Where he is not comfortable talking to people. He has a few associates that he feels he deals with, and comfortable with as when it comes to business, but not everyone is known as personable.
I agree, Jack. This is a non-story.
December 16, 2016 at 6:41 am in reply to: vid link: Snead part of coach search & Demoff not looking for a GM #61167
nittany ramModeratorI’d be fine with keeping Snead. I think he is a good GM, especially on draft day.
nittany ramModeratorNot sure what he was thinking, slowing up like that, no slide, no effort to get out of bounds. You gotta learn to protect yourself. There’s a good reason the good ones play many years without a lot of injuries.
My guess is Goff was trying to get knocked out.
Like the rest of us, he just wants the nightmare to end.
Awesome helmets though, huh? I hope the new unis are blue and white.
December 14, 2016 at 4:51 pm in reply to: how many of these movies have you seen? an arbitrary list #61070
nittany ramModeratorMy Darling Clementine was featured on an episode of MASH.
I’ve seen 16 of those movies. My favs from your list are Dr. Strangelove, Goodfellas, A Fish Called Wanda and Glory.
nittany ramModeratorAlltime fav of the Fisher era is the tie at SF in 2012.
All the victories against the division rivals are memorable to me. I loved how the Rams were such a tough out in the division under Fisher.
The blowout victories over the Colts and Broncos were also pretty sweet.
nittany ramModeratorJackPMiller cares about one thing, and that is winning Super Bowl trophies. He would work nonstop for those things.
Yeah, but that’s all Les Snead cares about too, Jack. Wanting a thing and being capable of getting a thing are two extremely different things, if you catch my drift.
However, if you promise to fly members of this board out to LA and supply sideline passes along with rooms in a fancy hotel all at the expense of the Rams I might be ok with it.
PS. The coach will have total control over all personnel decisions, right?
December 14, 2016 at 1:07 pm in reply to: informal poll: how good is this roster for a new HC? #61034
nittany ramModeratorIs Williams gone as DC ?
Most likely a new coach is going to want to bring in his own staff but it’s possible he might want to keep Williams. I hope they do because the type of players currently on the roster fit and know his system. But Williams is probably gone.
December 14, 2016 at 1:03 pm in reply to: informal poll: how good is this roster for a new HC? #61031
nittany ramModeratorI think the roster has more talent than what most new coaches find when hired by a perennially losing team. As you say, a lot depends on the type of players a coach wants. I doubt many coaches would favor Barron at LB but who knows? If the o-line is salvageable then it shouldn’t take too much to turn this team into a winner.
December 14, 2016 at 11:18 am in reply to: informal poll: how good is this roster for a new HC? #61027
nittany ramModeratorWill they keep Johnson and what else do they have at corner? Depends on the new coordinator.
The obvious keepers? (IMO.) Donald, Brockers, Tree (though not necessarily at MLB), Kendricks (as a good middle class type), Tavon, and presumably Goff.
Well, I think just about any coach is going to try and resign TruJo, especially with the Rams’ cap situation in such good shape. He is one of the best corners in the league and the rest of the corners are either unproven or meh.
nittany ramModeratorOh NO!
Yeah I feel like we dodged a bullet there.
nittany ramModeratorSo much for the Vegas odds makers…McDaniels isn’t interested in interviewing for Rams job.
nittany ramModeratorSo much for the Vegas odds makers…McDaniels isn’t interested in interviewing for Rams job.
nittany ramModeratorEnh. I don’t buy most of this stuff. I see a lot of hyperbole about Fisher. He seems to set some people off.
To me he’s an ordinary story—another good coach whose team didn’t turn the corner and he took the hit.
I really don;t get the hyperbole.
…
I don’t get the hatred a lot of fans have for Fisher. Fisher may not have gotten the Rams over the hump but he’s leaving the cupboard pretty full for the next coach. It’s not like he was a complete failure. He turned a historically bad team into one that no other team wanted to face up until a few weeks ago. He desperately tried to build a winner. He failed but he did his best to turn the Rams into a contender. It didn’t work out – ok, so now the Rams are moving on but you would swear by the hatred in many of the posts by fans out there that Fisher intentionally set out to destroy the Rams.
nittany ramModeratorAndy Reid? Way to dream big there, Pa.
I wish Jeff Fisher had been more like Chuck Knoll. You know, with his 4 Super Bowl victories in 6 years…
That is the kind of spelling I expect from spellingly deficient science types who spell stuff like H2OS04.
By the way, the Trojans are going to kick your sorry ass all the way back to Happy Valley. Cappy.
Knoll is the original spelling. I spelled it that way to honor his Gaelic ancestry of which the late coach was so proud.
USC will suffer the fate that eventually befalls all Trojans. They’ll be stretched, pulled, abused, tossed aside and quite possibly flushed away.
nittany ramModeratorLast week, I said the Rams needed better numbers on sacks and turnovers.
I don’t think I was specific enough.
I mean the Rams need to take away the ball from Seattle, and sack Wilson.
Way to go.
Your vagueness cost Fisher his job.
Welp, I can think of one family that won’t be having a very nice Christmas this year.
Tell ya what, Mr. Not-Obvious, when Fisher’s children ask their mommy why there isn’t any money for presents and why they hear the muffled sounds of their daddy crying into his pillow at night, why don’t you man up and tell them the truth…Santa isn’t coming because you couldn’t be bothered to take an extra couple seconds to be more specific.
nittany ramModeratormike freeman @mikefreemanNFL
Source very close to Jim Harbaugh just texted me: “Jim isn’t leaving Michigan. He may never leave Michigan.”Of course with a major bowl game still to play he wouldn’t say anything else.
nittany ramModeratorAndy Reid? Way to dream big there, Pa.
I wish Jeff Fisher had been more like Chuck Knoll. You know, with his 4 Super Bowl victories in 6 years…
nittany ramModeratorThe Rams know how to beat Seattle. It’s just a matter of recycling the old game plan that always works. And players usually take it personally when their coach gets fired. They will be motivated to play well.
So I give them a puncher’s chance.
December 13, 2016 at 9:42 am in reply to: Rams will wear Blue and White helmets on Thursday vs Seattle #60917
nittany ramModeratorWhat year did you become a ram fan?
1974…the year my family moved back to the states from down under.
Why do those Aussie’s throw shrimp at Barbie?
December 13, 2016 at 6:47 am in reply to: Rams will wear Blue and White helmets on Thursday vs Seattle #60900
nittany ramModerator
nittany ramModeratorActually I didn’t think Spags should have been fired in the first place.
And now he’s a little more seasoned. He’s had time to reflect. Take stock.
He’s ready. I’m ready.
Time for the Spaniard 2.0.
