nittany ramModeratorYeah, I’m skeptical of hacksaw’s analysis. I don’t think PFF is wrong in rating him among the very worst tackles in the league. Boudreau said he holds a lot because he has bad footwork allowing the rusher to get him off balance which forces him to grab. Footwork and technique have always been his issues. No one questions his athleticism and potential but I don’t think the Rams coaches would reward an improving player who was “lightyears” better in pass pro from the previous season by benching him.
I don’t want to cut GRob. Move him to guard and let him maul people in the running game.
nittany ramModeratorWhen you see stuff like that you have to wonder if Devos could make things any worse…
Although, this sort of thing probably has more to do with US attitudes towards Israel and how those attitudes are shaped by the corporate media than with a failure of the educational system.
nittany ramModeratorWell see also, it’s pretty much enough that he doesn’t condemn it.
Well, you support what you don’t condemn. By allowing the white supremacists to feel empowered by his rhetoric he is supporting their cause whether that was his original intention or not. (It was). Whether he believes everything the white supremacists believe may be open to debate, but they share a common goal. They have the same vision regarding what this country should look like.
The movie “Conspiracy” was an excellent film that was based on a transcript of a meeting that German officials had to discuss how to implement Hitler’s “Final Solution”. The attendees’ copies of the transcripts were supposed to be destroyed but the Allies found one after Germany fell.
The belief that ‘the Jew’ was inferior was held by most of the attendees but not all. However, they all shared the conviction that ‘the Jew’ had to be eliminated, whatever the means. That is what mattered.
nittany ramModeratorWell i am not convinced he believes any of that white-supremacy or christian stuff. He might, i dunno. But mainly i think he knows how to USE that stuff to build a political-base.
w
vYou say he might not believe that stuff – he’s just saying it to build a political base. But if he doesn’t believe in that stuff, what’s the point of building a political base that believes in that stuff? I mean, he’s trying to create a world where that stuff is the norm, right? Why would he want that if he didn’t believe in it?
If you were trying to build a national leftist political base, what things would you say that you don’t actually believe in order to build that leftist base?

nittany ramModeratorChrist even Bernie voted for Matis. You’d think he at least would have voted against every nominee just on principle. Elizabeth Warren, the new face of the progressive movement? Wudda’ joke. I don’t know why I continue to hold out hope that the democraps could actually be useful someday. Gutless weasels. They talk tough on Twitter but when it comes time to take a stand they scurry away like roaches when the light’s switched on.
Those of us who oppose Trump are on our own as the dems in Congress cower under their desks.
February 4, 2017 at 11:38 am in reply to: an editorial I happen to agree with about "Black Bloc" violence #64833
nittany ramModeratorYeah, even though the vast majority of the protests have been peaceful, Trump supporters see the violence as validation of their preconceived notions of what the protesters really are – America-hating, entitled, jobless “libtards”.
Violence never forwards the cause and should be avoided on principle alone.
nittany ramModeratorI disagree with what Nittany will say, whenever
he joins in though. Just on principle.

The thing is, the author just didn’t need to make that point via a putdown of the women’s march. It actually makes zero sense to attack it from that angle. Shit. He should be applauding the activism, the passion, the enthusiasm for mass opposition to the status quo.
I agree.
The author also doesn’t seem to think that the danger to women’s rights posed by the Trump administration is, in itself, worth marching for. It’s 2017 and women’s issues are still being marginalized – even from those on the left who should be their allies…
Anyway, that’s why I called him a sexist ass.
Symbolically wearing your genitals on your head is surely an arresting image, but it is misplaced and duplicitous when one has not opposed the systematic brutality of the American empire’s ravaging around the world under Obama and Clinton.
nittany ramModeratorI can’t count the number of women I know who were in that march. And none of them are restricted to the stereotypes this limited-minded guy wants to promote.
Yeah, I agree. That guy is a sexist ass.

I mean, we’re a fascist state NOW.
But do fascist states come in flavors?

nittany ramModeratorThe possibility that the events of the past few days are just the result of an inexperienced but well-intentioned administration trying to find its way would be more likely to me if it weren’t for Bannon. He’s the wildcard in all of this. He was cunning and shrewd enough to get Trump elected in spite of Trump’s flaws and foot-n-mouth disease.
Therefore I’m more inclined to favor the head-fake scenario, which is the far more frightening one.
nittany ramModeratorThe last person I knew who had the sniffles and a slight fever died of Ebola…
nittany ramModeratorthe last coach that the Rams passed on who was then hired by SF was ………..Bill Walsh….
Was that supposed to make us feel better?
I don’t feel better.

nittany ramModeratorSeems kind of thin skinned to be insulted at the order in which people are interviewed.
I dunno. Shanahan may end up being a great HC but the more I read the more he appears to be a prima donna.
I’m not saying the Rams dodged a bullet by not getting him but I am happy with the way things worked out.

nittany ramModeratorObama’s bans were on those already covered by UN travel bans or who had alleged ties to terrorist organizations. There were no bans based on someone’s religion. The Iraqi ban, as PA points out, came after an attack in the US and was on all Iraqi nationals applying for a special immigrant visa and refugees. Iraqis weren’t banned based on their religion and at no time during the ban did the flow of refugees from Iraq completely stop.
I haven’t had a chance to see the video yet but going on the responses if Dore is claiming an equivelency between the Obama bans and the Trump ban he is incorrect.
nittany ramModeratorGood. The Niners hire a GM with no talent evaluation or scouting experience at all.
Matt Millen redux.

January 29, 2017 at 11:59 am in reply to: Gurley missed most of offseason program to take part in off-field activities #64501
nittany ramModeratorWasn’t that one of the unnamed source’s points, that the offense was the same ?
According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, the coaching staff said, “It’s the same [offense] he was in as a rookie. You tell me the difference.”
That’s incorrect. Boras changed the terminology so they had to go through a learning process.
In terms of just the general approach to offense, overall yeah it was similar.
The hard part about learning a new offense though isn’t the plays it’s the terminology.
For example imagine this–how long would it take for you to drive without overthinking it if suddenly overnight they they changed all the symbols, colors, and words for traffic signals and signs. You would get back to normal after a bit but at first it would be more hesitant.
Well they changed terminology during a move. The move just means less focus. How much less? Who knows, but it had an effect, I think.
..
..
but then you take a guy like britt where it didn’t seem to affect him much.
i also think a lot of it is not just the playbook but also game planning and playcalling. i’m guessing boras just sucked at that.
Yeah. It seems like Boras could put a decent plan together, but then couldn’t adjust when the defense countered his plan. He had no answer for that.

nittany ramModeratorOne of the biggest difference between TG’s 100 yard games in 2015 and the later not-100 yard games is long runs. Most of those came in the 2nd half as the team adjusted to how defenses were defending against the run. I think Cigs had a knack for that in ways Boras didn’t. This also shows up in points per quarter—the 2016 Rams were fine that way in the 1st quarter and from the 2nd quarter on plummeted to the bottom of the league in ranking.
I think it is also entirely clear that TG contributed to this. This is not the first time we heard that he was not as dedicated in the off-season as he was in 2015. He visibly lost some weight, strength, and explosion.
To me all this is a perfect cluster storm of combined causes. IMO the people trying to narrow it to one cause are generally missing the whole picture. BTW that’s not aimed at other posters in this thread. I don’t see you guys as doing that.
.
So maybe some of the flaws in Gurley’s game that people have been talking about this season (poor vision – not seeing the holes, impatience, etc) have always been there but last year they were mitigated by the occasional long runs and second half blocking adjustments by Cigs.
