nittany ramModeratorWell, I don’t think it will take three years if Goff progresses. Not when you consider the improvements made to the oline. Gurley appears to be refocused and should return to form. The receivers are a work in progress but it’s all about Goff. If he turns into the QB he was drafted to be then the offense will be fine.
If the Rams offense is still struggling two years from now that most likely means Goff was a bust.
nittany ramModeratorapparently this dr. dao is quite the feller.

Regardless, the only thing he was guilty of on that plane was not wanting to give up a seat he paid for. I know airlines reserve the right to unseat any passenger they see fit, but all this could have been avoided if they just offered more money after they asked for volunteers to give up their seats and didn’t get any takers. Somebody would have eventually given up their seat. No matter how much it cost it would have been much less than this little episode will cost them.

vPlease.
There are reasons why Hitler became a murderous despot that were outside of his control too.
Yet neither deserve our pity nor our forgiveness.

nittany ramModeratorThis is good…
Goff has already been in private coaching during the offseason with quarterback gurus Tom House and Adam Dedeaux, and he appeared to be noticeably bulked up.
nittany ramModeratorAs someone who routinely looks for tic-borne parasites including Babesia on blood smears as part of my job, I would say that it’s a stretch to say the smudge at the end of the arrow in the picture in the article can be conclusively assigned to anything let alone a Babesia-type protozoan.
Cool article nonetheless.
nittany ramModeratorOf course, once again, that has nothing to do with my argument which is that America is great except for the other people.
I can just picture you and Colin Kaepernick, drinks in hand, lounging around his heated pool in your 49ers gear laughing it up and ripping on America and everything we hold sacred.
April 10, 2017 at 3:19 pm in reply to: many MDs like single-payer because of their interactions w/ insurance companies #67242
nittany ramModeratorThat’s just one of the reasons my wife, Mrs Dr Nittany would prefer it.
The main reason is a philosophical belief shared by my wife and myself that people shouldn’t have to worry about being able to afford needed healthcare.
nittany ramModeratorWho makes the decision to fire scouts? Seems to me the scouting department would fall under Snead’s purview. Scouts never seem to stay anywhere very long – they are constantly being recycled from team to team.
nittany ramModeratorThe La Times reported $2.4 million had been raised between the 24 candidates but 75% of that went to 5 establishment candidates. One of the non-establishment campaigns could only raise $55000.00
That’s always going to be an issue. The establishment dems have all the money. How do you unseat establishment politicians if you can’t compete with them financially? The disparity in funds means they can simply flood the media and drown out the progressive message.
nittany ramModeratorThis is when Maher is at his best…when he’s ripping on the GOP for, well, being the GOP – or the democrats for being spineless or for being complicit in the GOP’s douchebaggery.
Where he and I part ways is when he starts discussing feminism, Islam, political correctness, etc…
nittany ramModeratorthat’s awesome.
i hope we can find life on another planet within the next 30 years.
NASA is sending a probe to Jupiter’s moon, Europa in the 2020’s. It will orbit Jupiter and take high resolution photos of Europa as it passes by to see if it has the conditions to support life as we know it. The probe will fly past it 45 times as it orbits Jupiter so there will be plenty of opportunities for good pictures. It is thought that Europa has a layer of frozen water on the surface and a liquid water ocean underneath the ice. The moon doesn’t freeze solid because tidal forces from Jupiter’s gravitational pull cause Europa to ‘flex’ which stimulates volcanic activity and generates enough heat to keep the interior liquified.
Besides Earth, Europa has the best chance to harbor life of any place in the solar system. If we don’t find it there we probably won’t find it anywhere. Although life almost certainly exists elsewhere in the universe, anything outside our solar system would be unattainable to us because of the distances involved (lucky for them).
nittany ramModeratorRegardless of how many players remain on the roster I think it’s safe to say that McVay is inheriting a lot more talent than Fisher did.
April 6, 2017 at 5:54 pm in reply to: Despite Trump ending the 'war on coal', utilities aren't going back to it #67035
nittany ramModeratorCoal should to be put to bed-now and forever.
I went to Congressman Peter Welch’s local town meeting. He talked about visiting a coal mine in WV. The entire operation employed about 12 people. 30 years ago it would have employed 300 people but all those jobs were lost to automation. So the coal industry itself had as big a role to play in the loss of coal jobs as the tree hugging environmental groups and politicians.
nittany ramModeratorMy favorite signing of the offseason thus far.
nittany ramModeratorI always thought it was because of our sins.
There may be something to that. Cancer was almost unheard of in the Garden of Eden.
nittany ramModeratorMany of the helmets look better in their rival’s colors.
Not the Rams though. That is hideous.
I was expecting to see a blue and gold or blue and white 9’ers helmet but apparently the Rams aren’t their biggest rival anymore, at least according to the folks that put this together. As a matter of fact, none of the other NFC West teams’ helmets were decked out in Rams colors. This isn’t a surprise although I bet if you asked Arians and Carroll which NFC west team they wanted to beat the most over the last few years, it would have been the Rams. Of course, Fisher was behind a lot of that animosity. Now that he’s gone Arians and Carroll probably won’t have such an emphatic circle drawn around the Rams game.
Let’s see if McVay/Phillips can do something about that.
April 2, 2017 at 1:21 pm in reply to: do people agree with this? my sense of how the Rams GM leads during the draft #66924
nittany ramModeratorI have no reason not to agree with it. Sounds plausible to me and it would make sense given the current situation.
nittany ramModeratorRepublicans’ views of blacks’ intelligence, work ethic lag behind Democrats at a record clip
nittany ramModeratorTrump voters fear diversity? Well-not all do. At least not in my neck of the woods. Most people I know who own their own business voted for the guy for one simple reason: they think he will lower their corporate tax rate and allow them to either buy more toys or expand their business. None of them appear to have any negative attitudes toward other ethnic groups. Their votes were simply -in their mind-a matter of economics. If they could use a diverse population in their own businesses they would-and from what I see-they have. But then again they are fairly well educated and would be considered “upper class”-whatever that means.
Well, yeah of course not all do. The article even suggests a correlation between education level and fear of diversity.
My experience is that race played a big part. The fear or distaste for diversity is evident among most of the Trump voters I know even though none say that is the case. But if you listen to them for any length of time it becomes apparent. The rascism can be obvious like when they talk about immigration and Black Lives Matter and it can be more subtle like when they talk about their aversion to the ‘nanny state’. But either way it’s there on display for anyone to see. They deny it but it’s there.
nittany ramModeratorHe’s already a free agent. Apparently he learned about the suspension on the same day he was visiting the Dolphins. Now THAT is the sorta luck one only has when they are associated with the Rams…

nittany ramModeratorI dont understand why Spiders need so many eyeballs. And i dont understand why humans only have two eyeballs.
Why didnt we evolve more eyeballs? I would think it would be an advantage.

March 28, 2017 at 8:00 pm in reply to: Rams' projected O-line: Robinson at RT, Havenstein at RG #66775
nittany ramModerator————-
Well, wv-ram is, like, TOTALLY worried about Hav at guard and Grob at Tackle.
I dont think Hav is a guard and i dont think GRob is a Tackle. But what do i know. Apparently the OLine coach thinks he’s a miracle-worker. Or else the organization just feels stuck personnel-wize.
w
vThat is precisely my response.
Well, I don’t know if the Hav-guard and GRob-RT experiment will work out or not, but even if it doesn’t it’s no big deal – simply switch Hav back to RT which we know he can play and move GRob to guard which he had at least a sliver of success with as a rookie.
I don’t know how any of this has DISASTER-level ramifications as stated earlier in this thread.
As a matter of fact it never would carry that much weight to a TRUE Rams fan – although I could see how a couple of Seahawk or LA Charger fans might claim it would to foment distrust of McVay and his staff which is likely what is going on here.
DISASTER would be the announcement that GRob is moving to center and Spruce is moving to RT but I’m almost certain that ain’t gonna happen.
nittany ramModeratorSpider eyes.
We have a winner! It’s a chart that depicts the unique eye patterns of different spider families.
Way to go, Ag!
BTW, Zooey has your $1000.00 in prize money.
When you ask him about it he’ll probably pretend he doesn’t know what you’re talking about. That’s just s little game he likes to play. Don’t worry, he’ll pay ya. Just keep on him about it.

nittany ramModeratorThat;s easy, those are helmet logos from the old NFL Ancient Greeks division.
Ah, yes…who could forget their great rivalry with the teams of the PFC (Persian Football Conference)?
Nittany,
Are you really cyrus about that? Cyrusially?
Never syracuse me of not being cyrus.
nittany ramModeratorFootprints made by various types of bacteria.
Yes, because bacteria have feet. 😊
It does have something to do with living things.

Ah, yes…who could forget their great rivalry with the teams of the PFC (Persian Football Conference)?
nittany ramModeratorThanks, Jack. That must take a lot of time.
I like the idea of getting Elflein in the draft but I’m still holding out hope they can land an experienced veteran center like Sullivan.
March 28, 2017 at 7:36 am in reply to: Rams' projected O-line: Robinson at RT, Havenstein at RG #66744
nittany ramModeratorI’m not worried about moving Havenstein to guard and GRob to RT. That could become a pretty good tandem to run behind. Worst case scenario – it doesn’t work out so you switch them back (GRob to guard, Havenstein to RT).
Hard to get too excited about any of this until they get a center though.
