nittany ramModeratorDid Brockers play at all? From ESPN…
• Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Michael Brockers, who has 4.5 sacks, earns a $125,000 bonus for 5.5 sacks this season. Brockers needs one sack versus the San Francisco 49ers for the payout.

nittany ramModeratorDid they volunteer for this?
I think it is payment for being allowed to move back to LA.
December 30, 2017 at 1:36 pm in reply to: Eagles Fans Are Convinced Rams Are Tanking To Play Them #79776
nittany ramModeratorAnd 49er fans think the Rams are afraid to play them straight up because they will lose.
The 9er fans got awfully smug in a hurry.
I hope the back-ups put a beating on them.
Mannion for 4 TDs. Malcolm Brown for 150 yards on the ground.
Sam Ficken for 5 field goals.
Most importantly for me…I want Garoppolo to really stink. Something along the lines of a 45% completion pct and 4 picks. I would love it if the 9ers fans went into the offseason a little unsettled about their QB situation.
December 30, 2017 at 12:58 pm in reply to: informal poll…was the winning TD in Tenn. a 4th quarter comeback? #79768
nittany ramModeratorKurt Warner only had 9 comeback wins for his career. One less than the great Mark Sanchez.
Tom Brady leads all active QBs with 41 comebacks.
Surprisingly, Aaron Rodgers only has 12.
nittany ramModeratorI think McVay is a lock for Coach of the Year.
nittany ramModeratorMy first impression of Bonsignore was that he was LA’s version of Miklatz. And there are times when he can act that way.
He’s Miklasz. IMO.
Doesn’t make him wrong.
Just makes him Miklasz.
He may be Miklasz as you insist. I have no opinion on that.
My only contention is that he’s no Miklatz.
And I stand by that.
nittany ramModeratorHey. I agree with Vincent. How about that?
I totally agree that being in the best physical and mental condition possible outweighs the bracket.
My first impression of Bonsignore was that he was LA’s version of Miklatz. And there are times when he can act that way.
But overall, he’s usually pretty reasonable.
My take: I hate the idea of sending the 9ers and their fans into the offseason feeling good about themselves and their team. But I also agree that being healthy and rested for the playoffs trumps any other consideration.
nittany ramModeratorGoff was 7 – 12, 128 yds and 4 TDS against the Titans’ blitz.
I think the author exaggerated Goff’s ‘struggles’ against the Titans to make his point.
Not to say Goff can’t be thrown off his game, but we’ve already seen what that looks like this year. And even when that happens he usually still makes plays.

nittany ramModeratorThe Rams have clinched a playoff berth with their division title so now there isn’t a ton of reason to force their starters to play this Sunday versus the division rival 49ers.
Sean McVay told reporters in his press conference today that he will probably sit all of his playoff team’s starters for their New Years Eve contest versus the San Francisco 49ers.
This may upset some people who want to see the Rams get a nice win in the last home game of the regular season but it doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Rams to risk injury to one of their starters that could cripple their playoff hopes before they even play in a playoff game. The one reason to play your starters in this one would be to retain the number three seed that they could lose to the New Orleans Saints but overall it doesn’t really even matter and might actually benefit the Rams depending on who they end up playing.Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers are on a tear, riding a four-game winning streak as they look to finish the season 6-10 after losing their first nine games. It’s improbable but it’s what happens when you acquire a QB like Garoppolo mid-season. The Niners will definitely look to head into the off-season on a high note winning five-straight so the Rams can expect a team they barely beat 41-39 with Brian Hoyer to be a lot better this time around.
As for the Rams two things to watch out this weekend if they indeed sit their starters. First off, the Rams would likely have an increased possibility of playing the Nick Foles-led struggling Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the playoffs as opposed to a brutal match-up in Minnesota versus the Vikings. On top of that the Rams would get a prime chance to find out what exactly they have in backup third-round QB Sean Mannion. The fact that it’s no guarantee Mannion is on the roster after this season is a reason but also it’s important to go back and remember what Matt Flynn did the year the Packers sat Aaron Rodgers. Flynn threw six touchdowns and built up his stock so much that he received a hefty deal from the Seahawks. The Rams however, do not have to worry about Mannion walking in free agency so they could actually use a potential dominant performance to shop Mannion for a draft pick or two. That is something to seriously ponder…
Stickin’ with Ficken
During today’s press conference McVay confirmed that the team will stick with kicker Sam Ficken this week against the 49ers. He was sure to emphasize the trust he has in him. Whether or not he is able to come through this weekend is another story but for now Ficken is the guy and likely the guy moving into the Rams first playoff game since 2004.
nittany ramModeratorI think the Vikings have been the most consistently good team this season. They are machinelike in that they have no weaknesses and they play to their full potential every week. Not to say the Rams couldn’t beat them because they could. I think the Rams have a higher ceiling than the Vikings and when the Rams are playing their best they are the better team.
nittany ramModeratormerry christmas!
man the only thing i’ll be able to think of is rams all day.
but it’s all good stuff!
This is going to be a damn fine Xmas.
nittany ramModeratorCome back, ag.
nittany ramModeratorOk, so they get a home game win or lose. But a win or loss still has bearing on the opponent.
Interesting.
…btw, Goff needs almost 200 yards to get to 4000. I’d like the kid to get 4000.
w
vWell, the most important thing is not to send the 49ers into the offseason feeling good about themselves.
Which team the Rams steamroll in the first round of the playoffs is secondary to that.
nittany ramModeratorSeattle looks like they bounced back. Good for them…I hope they win.

nittany ramModeratorgurley is getting big time publicity for mvp honors.
i gotta think he at least wins offensive player of the year.
and donald gets defensive player of the year.
that’d be cool.
Anything less than MVP for Gurley would be a crime against humanity.
nittany ramModeratorOh sure–you’d feel that way. Disposable kickers, huh? Just throw them away like a used diaper, huh?
What happened to your Amish roots? What happened to the value of things? What happened to taking a pair of old shoes to a cobbler? You move up north and suddenly you’re just tossing away kickers.
Get with the times, dude.
The Amish have finally embraced the consumer ethos of their English neighbors.

nittany ramModeratorLet’s hope Ficken doesn’t create any during his time with the Rams.
Of course, if he fickens up this week they’ll sign another kicker for next week and so on…
nittany ramModeratorThis may or may not be a big deal. Have to wait and see.
The Rams did try out 10 kickers before they decided to go with Ficken.
So they must have seen something they liked.
And Ficken has never kicked in the NFL, but it’s not like he hasn’t made big kicks in meaningful games before. He played for Penn State.
It’s not like he played for West Virginia, where the biggest kick of his career would have been to erase a goose egg late in the 4th quarter against a McNeese State team that was up by 40.
nittany ramModeratorBack injury. Ugg.
Lord, it all comes down to a…Pennsylvania State kicker?
Cursed.
w
vYou managed to find the one bright spot in all this.
He’s never attempted a kick in the NFL either.
nittany ramModeratorApparently he’s been battling the back injury all year…
December 20, 2017 at 6:59 am in reply to: reporters on the SEATTLE game, including tweets n articles n vids #79199
nittany ramModeratori said before the game there was no excuse for the rams to lose this game. even playing at seattle.
they were just way too injured to put up any kind of resistance unless the rams just had a collective brain fart the size of la county.
maybe i didn’t expect quite that level of an ass beating. but the rams did what they were supposed to.
I agree that given the injury status of the Seahawks defense, the Rams offense should have had a big day, as they did.
But the way the defense dominated Wilson and the Seahawks offense – that was amazing.
7 of the Seahawks’ 15 drives ended negative net yards. SEVEN.
nittany ramModeratorAfter everything that’s happened this season, how surreal would it be if the Chargers went to the playoffs and the Rams didn’t?
nittany ramModeratorI’m glad Moore lost, but this doesn’t imply some sort of “new direction” for the country.
White men and women still voted against Jones by a two to one margin.
A larger than usual turnout from black voters is the only reason Moore lost. And they turned out despite Alabama’s best efforts to prevent them from doing so.
nittany ramModeratorThis of course is just the beginning.

corporotacracy:http://www.businessinsider.com/security-robots-are-monitoring-the-homeless-in-san-francisco-2017-12Robots are being used to deter homeless people from setting up camp in San Francisco

A security robot has been put to work in San Francisco in an attempt to deter homeless people from forming tent cities.
The robot uses lasers and sensors to monitor an area for criminal activity. Rather than intervene during a crime, it alerts human authorities.
The robot’s owner, the San Francisco SPCA, said it has seen fewer tents and car break-ins since it deployed the robot in the city’s Mission neighborhood.
In San Francisco, autonomous crime-fighting robots that are used to patrol parking lots, sports arenas, and tech company campuses are now being deployed to keep away homeless people.
The San Francisco Business Times reported last week that the San Francisco SPCA, an animal advocacy and pet adoption group, put a security robot to work outside its facilities in the gentrifying Mission neighborhood. The robot’s presence is meant to deter homeless people from setting up camps along the sidewalks.
Last week, the City of San Francisco ordered the SF SPCA to keep its robot off the streets or be fined up to $1,000 per day for operating on sidewalks without a permit, according to the Business Times.
Krista Maloney, media relations manager for the SF SPCA, told Business Insider that staff wasn’t able to safely use the sidewalks at times because of the encampments. Maloney added that since the SPCA started guarding its facilities with the robot — known as K9 — a month ago, the homeless encampments have dwindled and there have been fewer car break-ins.
I can think of better ways for the SPCA to spend its donations.
On the other hand, their employees have to be safe.
Of course, the ultimate responsibility for this falls on a mental healthcare system where inpatient care is discouraged (so people are on the street) and the medications that could help are too expensive.
nittany ramModeratorBiggest game in….How long?
w
vA week.
nittany ramModeratorWhy don’t you just move to Russia if you love the Seahawks so much.
Where do you think I’m posting from?

nittany ramModeratorThey held Wilson to 198 yards passing in the first game. With just 3 sacks.
More on that.
In that game they held him to 198 yards passing as you say, and also 16 yards rushing. Outside of that game this year he averages 277 yards a game passing and 39 yards rushing. So his average yards per game is 316 and the Rams held him to 214.
Outside of that game he averages 0.75 INTs a game. The Rams intercepted him twice.
On average he is sacked 2.25 times a game. FWIW the Rams 3 sacks beat that average.
His qb rating outside of that game averages out to 97.1. In that game his qb rating was 76.2.
Outside of that game Seattle averages 24.8 points a game, which would be ranked 8th. 16 points, which is what they of course scored in that game, would be ranked 31st.
All that’s true but Wilson is playing better right now than he has at any point in his career. And the Seahawks added a probowl LT to the lineup since the last times the Rams faced them.
nittany ramModeratorI liked the chances of the Rams against the Vikings, the Saints, and the Eagles.
The Vikes beat them.
They beat the Saints.
The Eagles game was there for the taking, and the Rams’ inexperience cost them that game.
The Seahawks…well, the Rams nearly beat them in spite of 5 turnovers, including the Gurley fumble that fate could have turned the other way, and the Rams could have gone up big right there. Even so, they had the ball in the end zone as time expired, and could have won. They outplayed Seattle that day, except for 5 turnovers.
Now Seattle is down Chancellor, Sherman, Avril (again), and maybe Wagner. So although it is in Seattle, the Rams ought to have superiority in numbers. Superiority in talent on the field.
Both teams are going to want this game badly, obviously, so it will be an all out battle.
If that Rams lose, I will have to attribute their position in first place more to the mirage of a bad early start by Seattle than their own power as a team. I won’t doubt they are headed in the right direction, but I will see going 1-3 in these Big Games as evidence they don’t belong yet with the Big Boys.
They ought to win this game. Seattle is pretty badly damaged on defense, and the Rams are second in the league in scoring, and have a very good defense that should get the better of the weak Seattle OL. Wilson is a handful, and his receivers are good, and this will be close.
Seattle’s m.o. on offense is to snap the ball to Wilson who will then scramble around until someone gets open deep and then he chucks it to the open guy. It’s been very effective. My concern is a that a secondary down a starting corner will have difficulty covering receivers for an extended period of time.
When the Rams used a 4-3, Quinn, Sims, and Hayes could keep Wilson in the pocket while Donald and Brockers collapsed it. Not sure the current defense will be able to do that as well as they have in past years.
I still like the Rams’ chances though. The Seahawks haven’t faced a Rams offense this good since 2003 or 2004. I think the offense is better than it was the first time they met. Gurley is the new ‘beast mode’ and Goff is more comfortable in the pocket than he was when these teams met earlier in the year.

December 11, 2017 at 11:03 am in reply to: Michael Bennett’s dirty play may lead to suspension #78729
nittany ramModeratorThe Rams could be facing a Seahawks defense without Bennett, Richardson, Jefferson, Wagner, Sherman, Chancellor, Avril…
What’s with Wagner? Is he hurt?
I doubt that Bennett, Richardson, and Jefferson are suspended. Bennett might be. The other two guys will be fined.
I’d take that, though. A Bennett suspension.
Wagner hurt his hamstring. Not sure what his status will be for Sunday.
