Moderatorrules were different back then.
that offense in this era with all the protection qbs enjoy?
not as impressed. i think that san diego game was more impressive.
Well, yeah that was a really impressive performance against SD.
But what impressed me about the performance last night is that Minn is purported to have perhaps the best defense in the league, although perhaps it’s not as good as advertised. My memory may be off but I thought San Diego didn’t have a good defense when they faced the GSOT.

ModeratorRest of the league was busy shortly after the game changing their shorts . If the Vikes can’t stop you who can? Something about the short week messes with the Defense and the Offense goes nuts . What a fun night ! And the D notched 4 sacks including Donalds first two and JFM with the strip sack to ice the game wow. Goff is playing better than any QB out there right now I watched Mahones and got the feeling this guy has been lucky so far. Goff is a surgeon.
That was the greatest performance by a Rams offense I’ve ever witnessed. I don’t think that even the GSOT ever looked that good – not against a top flight defense anyway.
GSOS – Greatest Show on Surf.

ModeratorI’ve changed my mind. Rams win a close one.
Kind of like Swedish meatballs in an oil derrick fire.
The Vikings look good cooked that way. I think I would serve them over egg noodles. Deelish.

ModeratorRams 27, Vikings 19.
Vikings’ o-line is subpar, and in 12 years of Thursday night games no team has ever won or covered the spread when they’ve had to travel two time zones west.

ModeratorThe bad news for the Vikings is that if the past is any indication, they’re a lock to lose this week, and here’s why: No team flying from the Central time zone to the Pacific time zone for a Thursday game has ever won or covered a game over the past 12 years.

ModeratorSomething else to keep an eye on… Play-by-play sheet says Andrew Whitworth left the game with an injury late in the fourth quarter. I'm told he came out for precaution, during the kneel-down plays. Joe Noteboom played at the end.

ModeratorThis win was very costly. Rams defense became pedestrian without those great corners. Their loss really magnified the lack of pass rush.
Goff and the offense were outstanding though. Which is good because they may have to carry this team for awhile.
Let’s hope Peters and Talib’s injuries are not serious. I don’t expect to see them Thursday against the Vikings, I don’t expect to see Peters, not sure about Talib, but the rest of our Defense needs to step up though, if we want to pull of a win on Thursday.
Then again, it felt our guys on D had their minds elsewhere. Are tackling most of the day was like crap, and that is being kind. Maybe the guys minds were thinking about Thursday night or something.
Maybe even more serious is the lack of a consistent pass rush. They are getting nothing from their edge rushers and Donald and Suh aren’t wrecking the havoc I thought they would. Donald was completely invisible against the pass this game.

ModeratorMarcus Peters and Aqib Talib both left the win with injuries and any extended absences would leave the Chargers vulnerable at a particularly important spot on their defense.
Peters and Talib are so good that even the Chargers will be hurt by their loss going forward.

Asshole Culture has carved out a very clear, unsavory role in American film, literature and life. Entitled, wealthy, bros who take what they want, treat everyone around them like shit and then rise to positions of power is practically a cliche it's so common.

ModeratorThe “Fight for L.A.” is something that’s been talked about since the Chargers moved to Los Angeles, and on Sunday, they’ll finally get to face their crosstown rivals, the Rams. It’s their first regular season matchup since 2014 and the first with both teams in L.A., which heightens the excitement.
Uh. Los Angeles has the Dodgers, Angels, Kings, Ducks, Lakers, Clippers, Rams, Chargers, USC, and UCLA.
Of all those teams, the Chargers are at the bottom. This is a team that cannot sell out their stadium which seats 27,000.
They could leave Los Angeles, and more than half the city would be surprised to learn that they were ever there.
==================
I think the San Diego Chargers had the funnest team in NFL history. That Coryell group. And they had to play by the old-school NFL rules. Back when defenses could actually take yer head off.
I always have a bit of a soft spot in my football-heart for the Chargers because of the memories of that group.
Now that GRITS is in the sky, someone has to take over as board-charger-fan, i spose.
w
vYeah, they were perhaps the funnest team to watch. You knew any game they played in would be entertaining.
The Brian Sipe Browns were like that too.

Did you see the Miami playoff game? The “Winslow carried off at the end of the game” game? I remember seeing that game at the time.
Granted it was such a high scoring dramatic game cause SD had no defense (they were 27th). But still one of the biggest non-Rams games I remember watching.
…
The greatest non-Rams game ever.

ModeratorI’ll be curious to see how Rivers attacks this D.
w
vWith Rivers at QB and Gates at TE, I wonder if the Chargers would attack the Rams the way the Raiders did in the first half of their game? The Rams had no answer for it in the first half.
The Raiders couldn’t sustain it in the second half after Wade’s adjustments, but the Chargers are a lot better offensively than the Raiders, and despite the adjustments, I doubt the weakness that the Raiders exploited is fixed.

ModeratorThere have been murmurs of culling seals and/or sharks in light of the two shark attacks in Cape Cod this summer. I really hope it doesn’t come to that.
If you go into the water, you do so knowing that there is a chance you are going to get hurt/killed. And it’s not like it’s a significant chance. Even with all the white sharks at Cape Cod the odds of being attacked is incredibly small. The local marine life shouldn’t have to suffer because we choose to make their home our playground.

ModeratorI like Cooks better than Watkins.
But what the Rams may miss is Watkins’ downfield blocking ability. I think one of the reasons Gurley rebounded last season and broke off all those long open field runs was because of the improved blocking of his receivers – namely Sammy Watkins. It’s only been two games but he has yet to break off a big run.

ModeratorDems don’t like the “S” word.
They are too afraid of being labeled with it to ever hammer reps over its benefits as Maher suggests they should.
And truth be told most mainstream dems don’t like most socialist programs any better than reps do.
That’s why they shut out Bernie’s wing of the party. Some of them are now embracing certain aspects of Bernie’s agenda like single payer only because of his popularity among the next generation of voters.
But any current or future politico that espouses even a socialist-lite platform like Bernie’s will always be marginalized by the dems.

I’m shooting for the first quarter. Will tape the rest.
athletically this guy is a beast. i’ve talked about this before, but as excited as everyone was to read about the rams aggressively pursuing mack, the rams have a guy with lots of potential already in samson.
I read that the Rams made inquiries, but weren’t really seriously pursuing him. They were never among the teams that were in the running for him.
