ModeratorMarcus Peters and Aqib Talib both left the win with injuries and any extended absences would leave the Chargers vulnerable at a particularly important spot on their defense.
Peters and Talib are so good that even the Chargers will be hurt by their loss going forward.

ModeratorThis win was very costly. Rams defense became pedestrian without those great corners. Their loss really magnified the lack of pass rush.
Goff and the offense were outstanding though. Which is good because they may have to carry this team for awhile.

ModeratorClick on the tweet to read the entire thread. It’s really good.
Asshole Culture has carved out a very clear, unsavory role in American film, literature and life. Entitled, wealthy, bros who take what they want, treat everyone around them like shit and then rise to positions of power is practically a cliche it's so common.

ModeratorThe “Fight for L.A.” is something that’s been talked about since the Chargers moved to Los Angeles, and on Sunday, they’ll finally get to face their crosstown rivals, the Rams. It’s their first regular season matchup since 2014 and the first with both teams in L.A., which heightens the excitement.
Uh. Los Angeles has the Dodgers, Angels, Kings, Ducks, Lakers, Clippers, Rams, Chargers, USC, and UCLA.
Of all those teams, the Chargers are at the bottom. This is a team that cannot sell out their stadium which seats 27,000.
They could leave Los Angeles, and more than half the city would be surprised to learn that they were ever there.
==================
I think the San Diego Chargers had the funnest team in NFL history. That Coryell group. And they had to play by the old-school NFL rules. Back when defenses could actually take yer head off.
I always have a bit of a soft spot in my football-heart for the Chargers because of the memories of that group.
Now that GRITS is in the sky, someone has to take over as board-charger-fan, i spose.
w
vYeah, they were perhaps the funnest team to watch. You knew any game they played in would be entertaining.
The Brian Sipe Browns were like that too.

Did you see the Miami playoff game? The “Winslow carried off at the end of the game” game? I remember seeing that game at the time.
Granted it was such a high scoring dramatic game cause SD had no defense (they were 27th). But still one of the biggest non-Rams games I remember watching.
…
The greatest non-Rams game ever.

ModeratorI’ll be curious to see how Rivers attacks this D.
w
vWith Rivers at QB and Gates at TE, I wonder if the Chargers would attack the Rams the way the Raiders did in the first half of their game? The Rams had no answer for it in the first half.
The Raiders couldn’t sustain it in the second half after Wade’s adjustments, but the Chargers are a lot better offensively than the Raiders, and despite the adjustments, I doubt the weakness that the Raiders exploited is fixed.

ModeratorThere have been murmurs of culling seals and/or sharks in light of the two shark attacks in Cape Cod this summer. I really hope it doesn’t come to that.
If you go into the water, you do so knowing that there is a chance you are going to get hurt/killed. And it’s not like it’s a significant chance. Even with all the white sharks at Cape Cod the odds of being attacked is incredibly small. The local marine life shouldn’t have to suffer because we choose to make their home our playground.

ModeratorI like Cooks better than Watkins.
But what the Rams may miss is Watkins’ downfield blocking ability. I think one of the reasons Gurley rebounded last season and broke off all those long open field runs was because of the improved blocking of his receivers – namely Sammy Watkins. It’s only been two games but he has yet to break off a big run.

ModeratorDems don’t like the “S” word.
They are too afraid of being labeled with it to ever hammer reps over its benefits as Maher suggests they should.
And truth be told most mainstream dems don’t like most socialist programs any better than reps do.
That’s why they shut out Bernie’s wing of the party. Some of them are now embracing certain aspects of Bernie’s agenda like single payer only because of his popularity among the next generation of voters.
But any current or future politico that espouses even a socialist-lite platform like Bernie’s will always be marginalized by the dems.

ModeratorKnocked off the rust in the first half; dominated in the second.
I never get down on this team after a bad first half(well I do, but afterwards I always say I won’t ever again). McVay and Phillips are absolute masters of half time adjustments.

ModeratorFor you east coasters who have to work tomorrow AM, how much of the game do you think you can watch?
I’m shooting for the first quarter. Will tape the rest.
athletically this guy is a beast. i’ve talked about this before, but as excited as everyone was to read about the rams aggressively pursuing mack, the rams have a guy with lots of potential already in samson.
I read that the Rams made inquiries, but weren’t really seriously pursuing him. They were never among the teams that were in the running for him.

ModeratorI’ll mainly watch the Vikings/Niners but will also keep an eye on the Giants/Jags to see how Saquon Barkley does in his debut.

I have little hope in this team’s ability to win a championship this season if they can’t even get to the playoffs.

ModeratorWait just a second, Mr Science. That chart makes it seem like the Wooly Mammoth was the same size or smaller than a regular ole Elephant.
thats gotta be fake mammoth news.
Nice try though.
w
vThe woolly mammoth was only about the size of an African elephant. They are very closely related to the modern Asian elephant which is even smaller. The huge mammoths that were bigger than modern elephants were the Steppe and Colombian mammoths. There was also a cow-sized mammoth that survived on Wrangel Island above Siberia until the pyramids in Egypt were built. Scientists think that was most likely just a coincidence, though.

ModeratorWell I notice the modern wolf is friendlier.
He looks at the camera and grins, for one thing.
The dire wolf? He’s all hostile and growly.
….
Thus the name, ‘Dire’ wolf.
Dire: adjective, from the Latin dirus, meaning fearful or threatening.
