Participantmy reaction to the Saints game.
1) The turf in the Super Dome is almost as ugly as it was in TWA dome… it looks like garbage… it’s painful on the eyes to see that carpet….
2) I used to admire Sean Payton, but he’s a bit of dick for running up the score and celebrating on the sidelines after each TD….I understand Williams may have thrown him under the bus for bounty gate, but fuck him……..
3) Drew Brees is underrated…. Brees, Russell Wilson, Matt Ryan, Carr and Aaron Rodgers are fun QBs to watch play….
4) Goff surprised me….. he looked good….

ParticipantGOFF IS THE REAL DEAL
In the spirit of fairness and full disclosure, a lot was said about Goff’s lack of NFL readiness in this space during training camp and preseason games. Simply put, the Goff learning curve going from Cal to the NFL was more demanding than imagined.
And that was pointed out by many.
That said, he’s grown by leaps and bounds since, and that progress was obvious while watching him during practice as the days, weeks and months unfolded.
So it wasn’t a major surprise to see him slinging it Sunday against the Saints, primarily in the first half as he ripped them for 167 yards and three touchdowns — including a gorgeous 24-yard pass to Tavon Austin for a first-quarter touchdown and an expertly handled two-minute drive to finish the half with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Lance Kendricks.
The sample size was small, but there is no doubting what we saw. Goff has an NFL-caliber arm, terrific feet to extend plays, touch, accuracy and a natural feel for the position.
In the big picture, that will turn out to be more important than the final score Sunday or even the Rams’ record to end the season.
“I don’t think there are any moral victories. For me, I felt a lot more comfortable in my second game,” Goff said. “From my experience, I just felt better out there and was just able to see it a lot better. The game slowed down for me a lot more today.
“But at the same time, I just wanna win. I don’t want to be out here saying I’m happy with what we did, or what I did, or anything in between; cause I’m really not if we don’t win. And that’s the bottom line.”Goff did look pretty good out there.
1) The TD pass to Tavon…. 3rd and 7 in front of 73K very loud N.O. fans, Goff gets the play clock down to :01 dropped a nice dime to Austin… that was very cool… a very nice pass indeed. I think we can’t underestimate this play for a rookie….. he went 3-4 on the opening drive in a loud dome…
2) TD # 2 to Britt…. Rams strike quick after the Bress T.O., a nice quick slant to Britt in stride to allow YAC TD.
3) TD #3… it’s 28-14, momentum shifted to N.O. Rams take the ball with 2 1/2 minutes left in the half….Goff goes 5 for 7 on the drive.. (I’m not sure why the Rams and Goff spiked the ball on 1st down with 3 timeouts left on that drive…….. anyway Goff hits Kendricks in stride for the TD pass on the play following the spike……….in that same drive, he had some very nice passes to Marquez and Kendricks….
I think what set the tone for the 2nd half was the Saints 1st play from scrimmage, the 60+ yard run, then the Rams have the Saints on a 3rd and 17 after 2 good defensive plays and Saints burn the Rams with screen for the TD…..
it’s too bad the Rams couldn’t covert some 3rd downs to counter in the 3rd qtr… just fell a bit short before the Saints snowballed the Rams…..
I think Goff is smarter than people give him credit for and looks very very calm….
Goff looked very encouraging….

ParticipantI do my best to do 105 push ups per day and walk 2 miles.
————
105 ? Wny 105 ?
Thats a lot, btw. How many can you do in a row?
I used to be a big ‘pull up’ guy. I liked pull ups. But now, at my age, its tough to get my elbow joints to go along with pullups. But I’m still gonna try and see if i can get my body to go along with them.
I rewatched a dvd of ‘Pumping Iron’ with Arnold and Ferrigno a while back. On the special features they kinda hinted that a lot of the drama was kinda ‘created’ just to add some pizzazz to the film.
w
vsomeday i’ll add a pull up bar…I’m not sure I can actually do one right now…..my elbows used to get sore and make noises but the push ups actually helped over time….
I do 3 sets of 35 push ups…… I’ll throw in squats, lunges, plank, chair dips for the triceps etc as time permits ….. but as a minimum I do my best to fit in the push ups daily…. push ups can be done almost anywhere……….BTW, I used to do 150 per day (3 sets of 50) but that stopped when I “stroked out” in 2007, ……… when I started playing softball again a few years I re-started the push up routine…….
I also make a priority to walk 30 min in the AM that includes 5 sets of stairs on the walk……….

ParticipantPenalty Breakdown:
URL = http://www.footballdb.com/stats/penalties.html?sort=numpen
RAMS:
1st in delay of game penalties (at least Goff didn’t get flagged for that on Sunday)
4th in false starts penalties (once again the Rams opened up the game with false start)No excuse for the above mention penalties. None, unless the refs spots the ball late for delay of game.. otherwise, no excuse.
I defense of the defense on the last drive, those very questionable calls on Aaron Donald, IMO should not have been called.

ParticipantWilton 6-3 league record
Danbury 2-7 league record
Wilton won the game 28-0
more on the fine culture of Wilton HS……
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilton_High_School
In 2007, the state of Connecticut enacted legislation preventing physical restraint or seclusion of special needs students except in limited situations,[15] largely as a result of allegations of mistreatment of four special education students in Wilton High School and other Wilton schools in 2005.[16][17] Jill Ely claimed that, without notifying her,
-
the school forced her retarded son into a room at the high school that was held shut until he became completely quiet.[17] She said that her son injured his arm trying to get out and once, she later learned, “he was left crying and whimpering for almost the entire day.” An investigation by the Wilton Bulletin in 2006 found that the high school “safe room” had never been inspected by the fire marshall and lacked a Building Department certificate of occupancy
.[18]
-
Maryanne Lombardi made similar claims that her 9-year old autistic son, who did not speak, was routinely sent to a “padded cell called the timeout room” at another Wilton school.
[17][18] Gloria Bass, the grandmother of two special needs students, also said that one child had been restrained for months in a storage closet without her knowledge.[17][18] Superintendent Gary Richards defended the schools’ actions saying: “We do the best we can with kids who sometimes are very challenged.”[17]
In March 2007, a controversy arose which achieved national prominence when Principal Timothy Canty, on the objection of a student, cancelled an original student play by an advanced theater class concerning the Iraq War, a project he had originally approved. He justified his action by claiming it “might hurt Wilton families ‘who had lost loved ones or who had individuals serving as we speak,’ and that there was not enough classroom and rehearsal time to ensure it would provide ‘a legitimate instructional experience for our students.’”[19] The play, “Voices in Conflict”, had been written and produced by students under the direction of 13-year English teacher Bonnie Dickinson. It was supposed to have been performed in school during the day. School officials, including Superintendent Gary Richards, notwithstanding national attention over the cancellation and a letter protesting it signed by Stephen Sondheim, Edward Albee, Christopher Durang, John Guare, and John Patrick Shanley, refused to allow the production to be performed at the school.
Theater groups rallied to the students’ defense, and the play was subsequently performed at the Fairfield Theatre Company, The Vineyard Theatre, The Culture Project, and The Public Theater.[20] The play was produced for Connecticut Public Television, and Bonnie Dickinson became the official 2007 Honoree of the National Coalition Against Censorship and the winner of the Connecticut Center for First Amendment Rights 2007 “Freedom Award.”[21]
In 2013, after the Wilton Board of Finance returned its proposed budget with instructions to reduce it by $750,000, the Board of Education voted to impose “pay-to-play” fees on all athletics and school clubs, with a fee of up to $100 per sport and $50 per club.[22]
In 2016, the night of Friday, Nov. 11, the Wilton High School football team played against Danbury High School at Fujitani Field[23] and a group of Wilton students were heard chanting “build the wall” — a phrase commonly heard at Donald Trump’s presidential campaign rallies in reference to a wall[24] he has publicly stated he wants to build at the United States-Mexico border to keep immigrants from coming into the country. Minority enrollment at Wilton High School is around 12%,[25] however minorities make up more than half of Danbury High School’s student body and a high number are Hispanic.[26] Nov.17, the Mayor of Danbury, Mark Boughton, issued a request asking that Wilton High School publically apologize.[27] They did.

ParticipantI really wanted the Rams to trade Bulger and keep the greatness of KW.
But Bulger won me over with some great comeback games. SD, Bears, and Sea… you couldn’t count Martz’s Rams out of a game back then….
Bulger….”, his most impressive game to me was a game he played in the rain in Pittsburgh.
He was a good QB, but not real animated and didn’t seem to be very vocal
joemad
ParticipantI remember all those games…. The Everett game was on national radio…freaking Eason Hail Mary jacked it up….
I think the Rams were 0-5 when they played Oakland with Bulger and beat a good Raiders team..
I still have all 1999 games on VHS. I still have Warner’s 1st game on tape.
I hope Goff is successful
joemad

He isn’t even president yet, has no cabinet, and has announced no policies, but you want to take credit for a strong dollar.

ParticipantI wonder if he got 2 marriage annulments to remain with the Catholic team…….at the alter with his 2nd wife with 2 buns in the oven…….then domestically abused her………..
Bannon
Bannon’s first marriage was to Cathleen Houff Jordan. They had a daughter, Maureen. Following their divorce, Bannon married former investment banker Mary Louise Piccard in April 1995. Their twin daughters were born three days later. After Piccard and Bannon divorced in 1997, Bannon married Diane Clohesy. That marriage also ended in divorce in 2009.[50]
Bannon was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, battery and dissuading a witness in early January 1996, after Piccard accused Bannon of domestic abuse. The charges were later dropped when his now ex-wife did not show up to court.[51] During the divorce proceedings, Piccard also stated that Bannon had made antisemitic remarks about choice of schools, saying that he did not want to send his children to The Archer School for Girls because Jews raise their children to be “whiny brats”. Bannon’s spokesperson denied the accusation, noting that he had chosen to send both his children to the Archer School Bannon’s association with the alt-right movement, along with his aforementioned alleged antisemitic remarks, have contributed to accusations of white nationalism from the Southern Poverty Law Center and other advocacy groups, commentators, and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid

ParticipantI’m not sure what to expect with Goff… what I haven’t seen or heard from him is his desire to start or seen any frustration from him for not being announced the starter… Maybe he’s being supportive of Case and team or feels that he’s not ready, or maybe a laid back personality….
for a Smart Catholic HS school kid that went to Cal, he doesn’t know how to spell immediate with lack of attention to detail on his HS resume….below
Personal Statement
I am a 6’4″ 190 lbs Pro-Style QB from Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, CA. I am in the class of 2013 and have started on Varsity since my sophomore year. My career record with my team over the past 2 years is 25-2. This past year I earned All-State honors, All-Metro honors, North Bay player of the year, MCAL League MVP, team MVP, and was selected to the Semper-Fi Proving Ground National Combine in January. I have a 3.7 GPA and have yet to take the SAT.
I am interested in a school that provides great athletics as well as academics. I am interested in schools all across the country, but preferably the West Coast. I have not yet decided what I will major in, but I’m very interested in Statistical Analysis. Ideally, I want to make an

ParticipantThe Great
1) Britt. I haven’t been able to watch his whole game on TV … can’t see his routes from that angle for some reason, or how well he runs them in comparison to everyone else. He’s on pace for 1250 yards this year if my math is close … and he’s honestly the best offensive player. Over Gurley. His routes are precise, he battles at the POA … and he gets upfield after the catch. I know we’re all bummed at the offense this year, and rightfully so … but Britt is playing good football.
Great Britain…. props to the Union Jack…..
His season career high is 48 catches with 750+ yards for the season……. he already has 44 this season with 693 yards….

ParticipantI wonder if it is time for Pharaoh Cooper to take over return duties from Tavon Austin. I mean let Tavon be just a WR, while the kid learns as the return guy. What do you think?
I noticed Cooper replaced Austin for NY’s last punt…..
Tavon once again signaled fair catch inside the 10 yesterday…. I’ve had it with him.
Tavon Austin has been very disappointing, he’s no where close to Ron Brown, Henry Ellard, or Az on special teams… Frankly he sucks.
I forgot one… Tony Horne….

ParticipantPersonally, I would have worked really hard to understand his positions, try to decipher the practicality of them, and the practicality of how he would finance them. He might have even had a minute chance to flip my vote. To that end, all the people who are out there
just curious, did you really work this hard to understand Trump’s positions?
What are they? Other than increasing import duty on Mexican and Chinese goods? having the Mexican’s pay for a wall and putting HRC in jail?
Do you honestly believe that these are practical and will better the country?
Because we all know none of these will happen….

note the diner’s customer comments….some feedback from the Rams equipment room…. a slight conflict of business interest…..

ParticipantWell, crap, ya know…Keenum isn’t why they are losing. They can’t run the ball. They cannot run. The running game is not working.
Goff could come in and elevate the Rams some…maybe. But at best they will still be #6 and out after one game.
They need to fix the running game. From 1st and goal 1 yard out…and no TD?
From Fisher?
WTF is wrong with the running game?
Seriously, if Gurley was averaging – whatever – 80-90 ypg – what would the Rams’ record be?
It isn’t Keenum. At least, he isn’t the main reason.
yes, the running game isn’t meeting expectations….
but Keenum’s 11 picks with only 9 TDs in 9 games is also a factor for the loses….. throwing 11 picks is not exactly game management……
joemad
ParticipantNot sure why, I know we won, but it does not feel like it. Anyone else have that feeling.
it’s not easy for West Coast teams to travel back east and win.
“”””Since the start of the 2003 season, West Coast teams have gone just 61-111 (35.5%) against East Coast teams.””””
joemad
ParticipantThe Rams are close, they are converting 3rd downs….defense is getting good pressure to the QB……. they are due for a win streak…, Brit and Kendricks (despite the Jackie Smith TD drop) are playing well……Once the run game gets consistent they should be balanced.
I hope the Rams destroy New York this Sunday…..
BTW, …..I remember hearing this audio below on Tuesday Sept 13 (the day after the week 1 MNF loss to SF)…….. I circled Nov 13 on my calendar… Mike Greenberg (from the ESPN Mike and Mike Show) who bashed the Rams is a big Jets fan
Following the Los Angeles Rams’ embarrassing 28-0 loss to the 49ers in their first game after moving from St. Louis, Mike Greenberg laid out just how bad the team is
“Yanking his team from the good people of STL to get additional billions of $$$$”.
“Hey STL, enjoy this!”
“#1 pick in the draft inactive”
“Case 17 of 35”
“The Rams are worse than the Browns…..they are a college team below the Philly 76ers…”

ParticipantZN SAID
“””””For me two things.
First, just focusing on economic policy alone, Trump will be far worse. And that’s not an apologist saying that. I was railing against Clinton in the Obama/Clinton primaries way back when, while also saying I didn’t think Obama was the least bit of an advance in terms of economic policy.
Second, that’s while fully acknowledging Clinton’s fucked up predisposition toward neo-liberal policies.
I agree with you that Trump took advantage of frustrations. But that’s just because the people who bought into that did not look any closer. “””””
you nailed it. People are too fucking stupid and lazy to see through this….. …. Trump is a salesman that sells the sizzle on a shitty cut of steak… a used car salesman selling garbage cars that people bought… he conned everyone into buying his rust bucket ….
it won’t be long before that Earl Scheib paint job will start to expose the rust bubbles and leave a giant oil stain in your driveway. we’re stuck with a lemon…..

Participant“””””Might even still have it in a bookshelf in my basement. They would have to take the western part of Oregon and Washington with them.”””””””
someone would need to re-write the lyrics of “America the Beautiful”… .from sea to shining sea…..
throw in Nevada too… we’ll take Vegas…
joemad
ParticipantAaron Donald is fucking great………
I watched the replay of the Carolina game last night….. pass rush was very effective with some key sacks to kill drives and put Carolina out of FG range….
.. once the Rams get the running game rolling at an optimal level they will be very dangerous…..
the past few years the Rams have had a late season meaningless game run… this year, the games are not meaningless YET…. still a chance to win the division……, but I think they start a mini win streak this week against the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS JETS….
joemad
Participant“”””My guess is few people here will go out of their way to see it, but I think you should. Just watched it and it surprised me.
For most of this campaign, when I tuned in to see her, I found her to be rather wooden, with her shields up, mostly incapable of connecting on a human level with her audience. Too wonky, etc. Not really all that comfortable in her own skin, etc.
But this speech, which may be her last in public? She did connect. The crowd seemed to be really moved. Her tone was just right, IMO, and her words were gracious and, at least relative to her political peers, “classy.” If Clinton had been like this from the start, I think we might have had a different election result.”””
Many thought the same thing on Gore’s concession speech in 2000.
joemad
ParticipantSame here….. absentee voter….
joemad
Participantit’s been awkward watching the Rams convert 3rd downs….. the Rams have sucked at 3rd down conversions for years……
Our offense got better and we lost all three games.
I want the offense to suck, again.
That’s funny…..
Penalties still a huge issue… not only gives up yardage, but more importantly it turns the momentum of the game….

Zobrist was born and raised in Eureka, Illinois, by his parents Cynthia “Cindi” (née Cali) and Tom Zobrist, senior pastor of Liberty Bible Church in Eureka, Illinois He loved playing baseball since he was eight, so much so that he and his friends built their own wiffle ball field behind his house. After no pro scouts or college recruiters looked at him when he graduated, he thought baseball was over for him. “Baseball was not even a thought in my mind”, Zobrist said, “When I was done with my last high school game, I was driving around town just thinking I’m done with baseball the rest of my life.” After graduating from Eureka High School in 2001, Zobrist planned to attend Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri, but Zobrist’s high school coach encouraged him to spend $50 to participate in an annual summer event that showcased seniors in Peoria, Illinois He played in the showcase, and was given an offer by Olivet Nazarene University, which he accepted. In his time at Olivet, he pitched and also played at shortstop and second. He transferred to Dallas Baptist University for his senior year, where he played shortstop.
