Well, all those guys are lubed up to the gills, and giddy about their victory. But even after the euphoria wears off, I think they are going to want to try to repeat. I don’t know about you guys, but personally, I’m in favor of a repeat.

i really want whit to come back.

it sounds like donald wants to come back.

The Rams shouldn’t have won that game with all the injuries.

that drive with 5 or 6 minutes left will go down in not just rams lore.  but nfl lore.

like that elway drive in the afc championship.

the warner pass to proehl.  the warner pass to bruce.  were both stunning.  but this drive was just…  i can’t even find the words.  it just took me through all sorts of emotions.  a roller coaster of a drive.  just epic.

recorded the parade today and watching it now.

wow.  pretty big turnout.  super excited.  and lots of old school rams fans with their kids.  and their kids’ kids.

    very cool.

i think that watching whit and weddle. watching them on their last hurrah. it made donald and mcvay think more about their own careers. family. life after football…

maybe it got in their heads a little…

i don’t know. it was an exhausting season. even for me. and i didn’t even play or coach. that 1999 season went so fast. this season seemed like a grind. they’ll decompress. they’ll talk to friends and peers. ultimately it’ll be there own decision of course.

part of me would respect them if they just walked away. there really is something completely insane about pushing yourself to this limit year in and year out. it’s the best and worst part of being human…

of course i’d love it if they all decided to stay… whit and weddle included! haha!

there’s a lot of talk about whether stafford is a hall of famer.  well for one thing his career is far from over.  he’s got a chance to put up some big numbers.  i was just looking at it 15 minutes ago.  it should get very interesting if he decides to extend with the rams.

but also.  how does a quarterback shine on a team like the lions?  there’s questions about why he never made pro bowls or all-pro teams.  well troy aikman made no all pro teams and 6 pro bowls to stafford’s one pro bowl playing on a star studded team.  and he makes the hall of fame?

and before anyone says well barry sanders and calvin johnson made multiple pro bowls and all pro teams as lions, it’s different for a qb.  qbs on losing teams are just viewed differently than other position players.  i could be wrong about that.

i think that if stafford plays…  seven more years with sean mcvay as his head head coach.  i think that it won’t be a question anymore.

very impressed with ernest jones so far.

and holding out hope that bobby brown iii can make an impact next year cuz that guy had all the physical talent in the world.

Like only Aaron Donald could come through on consecutive 3rd and 4th and 1 plays with the game on the line. Jones made the tackle because he read the situation correctly. Donald made plays few can make.

i remember a moment where donald shoved burrow out of bounds on a perfectly legal play and the bengals started shoving donald.  and on the chat room you kind of joked and said don’t get yourself kicked out now.  maybe i’m imagining it, but i think a switch flipped for donald.  and after that he just ripped that oline to shreds.  kind of like jordan with the chicago bulls.  challenge him and he’ll just turn it up to another level.

I just think the Rams had to run the ball regardless of the results because the alternative was to just let the Bengals defense tee off against the pass.

i agree.  and i think mcvay did a good job calling the game.  i mean what can you do when you’ve lost woods, obj, higbee, AND blanton.  i mean what can you really do?  you can’t just pass the ball every time under those conditions.  i think he needed to keep cincy’s defense off balance just enough to keep them from teeing off on stafford.  even on the last drive there were some timely runs that kept the chains moving.  kupp and akers both made some clutch runs there.

i think the mcvay one is overblown.

the donald one…  i hope not.  but it sounds a little more serious to me.  rodney harrison did an interview with ad.  afterwards he revealed that donald told him directly that he was seriously considering it.  if they won.

maybe he just needs time to decompress.  it was a long season.

Ramaniac@RamaniacG People will tell you that Burrow thrives in pressure, about how he took 9 sacks and still won. Well he took 5+ sacks in 5 regular season games this year and they were 1-4 in those games. And they scored an avg of 19ppg in those games. -8 pts compared to their season avg.11 Not knocking Burrow, he’s been really impressive and deserves credit. But this mythic narrative of the Bengals unlockable defense and Burrow overcoming all odds is manufactured.

yeah.  and in the playoffs his numbers have dropped when under pressure compared to the regular season.  the rams dline has to come with it and go off on joe.

His completion rate dropped from 64.3% when pressured during the regular season – top three in the NFL – to only 47.6% in the playoffs. He’s averaging only 4.3 yards per attempt in the playoffs compared to 9.7 in the regular season, and his passer rating under pressure has dropped 54.6 points from 94.6 to only 40.0 this postseason.

Obviously, this is all very good news for the Rams, who have allowed a passer rating of only 10.8 when the quarterback is under pressure, giving up zero touchdown passes and picking off three passes, yielding a completion rate of just 26.5%.

As Rams pass rush peaks in playoffs, Joe Burrow’s stats under pressure have slipped

DOWNTOWN RAMS [DTR]@DowntownRams Cam Akers and Sony Michel could be in for a big game on Sunday. Bengals have allowed 312 yards rushing to running backs in the postseason for 104 YPG and 5.7 YPC. Cincinnati’s -0.001 Rush EPA on defense and 49.2% success rate ranks 13th out of the 14 postseason teams.

i really think a key for the rams is committing to the run.  wear down the bengals defense.  keep the bengals offense off the field.  keep the rams d fresh.

then the rams d has to shut down the bengals run game and put insane pressure on burrow when he drops back.

if they try to get into a throwing contest with the bengals, i think the bengals can beat them.

    simple right?

i’m encouraged by this stat.  either burrow doesn’t do as well against pressure against higher quality opponents.  or the pressure is starting to get to him after being hit so much.  regardless of the reason i hope it continues.  and i hope the rams can put tons of pressure on him.

His completion rate dropped from 64.3% when pressured during the regular season – top three in the NFL – to only 47.6% in the playoffs. A month ago, Eric Weddle had been out of football for two years. Then he received message from Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. L.A. needed a safety for the playoffs.

    that was a good read.

i’ll be honest.  when i first read that weddle had signed with the rams, i thought it was a joke.  i thought the rams had surely lost their minds.  and then i thought well it was a good season.  just too many injuries to overcome.  the rams were done.  but not only did the rams get to the superbowl, but weddle played a big part of that.  and now i’m beginning to realize it was even an bigger contribution than i thought.

if evero does indeed leave for denver, it’d be cool if weddle came on as a secondary coach.

Blaine Grisak@bgrisakDTR There seems to be a narrative that the Rams can’t run the ball. 3 of last 4 teams they played were SFx2 and TB. Those are two of toughest run D’s in the NFL. Michel ranked 3rd in rushing yards from Week 13-17. Michel + Akers had 113 against AZ in divisional round. Key to this game is up front where the Rams should win the battle. However, with a bad offensive line, don’t be surprised to see Bengals rely on quick passing game. Burrow’s average time to throw this season with 2.69 seconds. That was the 10th-fastest in the NFL. Sosa

Kremenjas@QBsMVP Matthew Stafford is 315 passing yards away from having the most passing yards in a single postseason in NFL history.

Hayden Winks@HaydenWinks Stafford is 1st (by a ton) in success rate versus blitzes and 24th versus 3 or fewer pass rushers. Expecting a very soft coverage game plan from Cincy again, similar to last week. Where Patrick Mahomes ranked against 3 or fewer pass rushers out of 33 QB qualifiers going into last week per @football_sis: + Most dropbacks (by a ton) + 25th in total EPA (-8.6) + 25th in success rate (39%) + 32nd in pressure rate (39%) An elite game plan by Cincy.

don’t fall for it, sean.  i think this defense might match up well against the rams offense.  they sat back against mahomes and mahomes couldn’t crack the code.  i think they take the same approach with matt.

just pound the ball.  don’t worry about records.

this worries me.  could this be another game where stafford has a handful of turnovers?  that’s the only thing i see derailing the rams.  maybe this is a time to pound the ball in the running game?

I read somewhere that the Rams have $39 million in dead money coming off the books next year for Goff, Gurley, & 3 other guys. I don’t remember who. So OBJ and Miller can probably fit – if that’s what everybody actually wants to do.

i also read the salaries for donald and ramsey and others kick in so much of that 39 million gets used up. whit may retire so that will give some relief. but i think they’ll still be over the cap.

for example donald and ramsey only count like a couple million each this year. in 2022 they’ll count 25 million each.

some players are gonna have to restructure their contracts.

i think morris did a good job. not great.

but then look at what staley did in san diego. they did nothing on defense.

a lot of moving parts during the season. difficult to mold them into one unit. and then you not only have to replace both of your starting safeties, but you pick up a guy who hadn’t played for two years.

it was a good season for him.

Anybody know when Donald circled up the defense?

according to d’marco farr it was after the niners had just scored.  the niners scored a touchdown in the third quarter, so i assume it was after that drive.  their only other scores were 10 points in the second quarter.  they never scored again after that third quarter touchdown.

Saw a stat: Most pressures in the playoffs:

    Von Miller 16

    Aaron Donald 16

    Nick Bosa 13

Most sacks taken in a postseason:

    Wade Wilson 14 (1987)

    Steve Fuller 13 (1984)

    Len Dawson 13 (1966)

    Joe Burrow 12 (2022)

really want to see von miller and aaron donald have a huge game next week.  i think that’s the key.  the whole front seven really.

also would love to see miller come back for a couple more seasons.  i think that above stat shows he’s got plenty left in the tank.

Burrow is at his best when facing man coverage. He ranked third against single-high safety looks. But against two-high looks, he’s been more in the middle of the pack. Rams are a zone-heavy team. They’ve played the 3rd-lowest percentage (15.6%) of man coverage in the NFL.

also read that he is great against the blitz.  so hopefully rams can get pressure on him with just four guys.

Luna and the suspect were recorded in a Niners tailgate area.
