Got to take Darius Rush. Second choice, Israel Abanikanda.

four picks in round 5.  i saw rush is still available.

The thing is when you take him. His potential “fit” is beside the point. Take him in the 4th and you lose out on players at positions of immediate need. As in, potential starters. Wait for known backups. Those guys will still be there after the potential starters are long gone.

    i agree.

    i gotta say though.  he’s small…

but he’s got MASSIVE HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  hahahaha!

    10″ hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  wowsers!

    can’t teach hand size, man.  mobile too.  4.67 40 and a 4.2 short shuttle…

if everything goes well, we never see him play in the regular season or postseason.

they need a backup qb. i just question whether he would have been available later.

He would have. And most scouts would argue he wasn’t the best available QB. They had much bigger needs to fill at that spot, and several talented players sitting there who won’t be there when the Rams draft again at #161.

no i agree with you.  that’s why i disagree with the pick.  i think the rams could have waited.

i thought this was pretty funny.

payne durham.  i want a tight end out of this draft!

he’s not your modern tight end.  but he’s a guy who can block and move the chains…  from the descriptions i’ve read at least.  i have never seen him play.  not even youtube clips.  but i think an all around tight end would be better for this offense.  maybe even free up higbee more in the receiving game?  i don’t know.  i do know they got that dolphins tight end hunter long.  but that guy has done pretty much nothing his first two years in the league.

durham probably went down in the draft because of a slow 40 (4.87).

mcvay is like a phil jackson. jackson wasn’t really a developer of players. but what he was good at was taking veteran players and molding those parts into a cohesive whole.

Looks like the monster TE, Darnell Washington, finally came off the board, to Pittsburgh. If memory serves, more than a few Rams fans wanted him in horns. He does have massive potential, given his size and athleticism.

there are reports of a knee issue with washington which is why he fell.  but he went to the steelers.  they know their football.  they know their tight ends.  i’m very disappointed.  i wanted him on the rams.

i don’t like this pick.  one year of so so production.  meh.  now hopefully he proves me completely wrong.

i don’t know anything about him, but his combine numbers scream speed and explosion.

    4.43 40

    38″ vert

    11′ broad

his 3-cone not that impressive though.  7.19.  and he’s not the biggest guy.  he’s also 25 years old.

also.  i was wondering why darnell washington was falling.  apparently he has a knee injury that is scaring off some teams.

By the way, Steve Availa is our future at Center, next year.

that would be my wish.  i really did want washington, but i also wanted the rams to address offensive line, so i’m glad they made this pick.

i hope he can play center at this level.  that would make this pick that much better.

    Who you thinking of.

i really hope the rams pick darnell washington. lots of untapped potential. he’ll impact every phase of the offense.

supreme athleticism but also appears to have the character to go along with his physical abilities.

Well, we’re talking about the thinking going into the trade, not after the fact. As in, there was no guarantee they’d win the Super Bowl with Stafford, and no reason to believe they couldn’t win it with Goff. Goff had a track record of making it to the Big Dance. Stafford didn’t.

ok.  i see.  before the trade i was in favor of keeping goff.  and immediately after the trade, i was still in favor of keeping goff.  but i have no idea how that would have gone.  would mcvay have had the patience to keep developing him?  i don’t know.

wow. i feel like there are still a lot of quality first round caliber players available. rams could get a good pick here. or maybe they trade down. i hope they don’t trade down.

but no guarantee of the superbowl.

i think i would go with the superbowl and stafford.

i don’t know if stafford comes back this year.  i don’t know how he stays upright…  hopefully, he’s got another five years in him…

i’d do it. i love coop, but the guy can’t stay healthy. he’s had two good seasons out of the six he’s been with the rams? the rest he’s been injured. and he’s gonna be 30 soon.

problem is no team in their right mind would offer that for him. maybe a team that thought he’d get them to a superbowl?

Was Ramsey’s contract guaranteed for 23 and 24 before the trade or after the trade?

my understanding is it was after the trade. it was the only way he’d agree to a trade.

someone should correct me if i’m wrong.

i think this is all being done in preparation for 2024. and if stafford was even just five years younger i’d be cool with it. but who knows how stafford looks in 2024. or maybe they have a plan there too.

after thinking about it i’m not sure what more they could have done. ramsey held all the cards on this one. and more power to him by the way. i’ll always. almost always. side with the player. if he wasn’t willing to budge on his demands and the rams were set on getting rid of him what more could they have really got for him?

if they try to get rid of him next year how does that impact the cap. does it just further delay the inevitable and waste another year of stafford? i don’t know. but it sure seems like they are conceding 2023. with hopes that they can be competitive in 2024. only problem is how good stafford will be in 2024.
