InvaderRamModerator
call me crazy, but i think the rams gotta chance next week. but they gotta slow ap down.
InvaderRamModeratorone of the worst offenses in the nfl. yet they have 2 of the most explosive players on offense. a dominant running back. and a versatile double threat. both can score on you in an instant.
yet they have one of the worst offenses in the nfl.
kinda funny when you think about it.
InvaderRamModeratorhe reminds me of a lot of different running backs. in fact. i’d say there are bits of faulk, dickerson, and jackson in him.
and what’s really fun to think about is i don’t think he’s fully back yet. i think he’s lost some speed from college. but with time i’m thinking he gets that back. probably not until next year.
mostly i just feel priveleged that i get to root for him on this rams team. it’s the perfect marriage really.
but also i want to take some time and give a shout out to tavon austin. not just the yards and the touchdowns. but the down and dirty hustle plays he made this game and in previous games.
think about that. 2 of the most explosive players in all the nfl. they’re also taking a leadership role on this offense. it’s going to take some time. looks like it might not even happen this year. but i think the offense will ultimately be in good shape. just need to help those two guys out.
InvaderRamModeratori’m curious to know how this rams defense would fare against that pats offense.

InvaderRamModeratormaybe they should pick a qb?
InvaderRamModeratorif i’m the rams, i actually think i try and pass the ball more this game. catch the 9ers off guard. get gurley involved more in the passing game. get some play action going.
this niners defense ranks last in pass defense. and i’m thinking this niners defense is going to go after todd in the running game. teams have three full games of tape to study this gurley led offense. i’m thinking the rams can catch them being overly aggressive defending todd. give foles and the receivers some confidence.
and hopefully kendricks is back.

October 28, 2015 at 10:11 pm in reply to: stuff from the net on Browns game including a must-read sideline report #33155InvaderRamModerator“In the first half when things weren’t going well, in the 2nd quarter they had come off the field, I think it was a 3 and out. He (the rookie) pulled the entire offense in a huddle, O-linemen, WRs and TEs and Foles and said, ” We are fine. We just gotta keep pushing. We are close to pushing through, I got ya’lls back. And I know you got mine. We gonna keep pushing”.
Not sure WOW even comes close…
yeah. that’s big. this is what i was hoping to read. he’s exactly what this offense needed.
and i’m sure lots of players do this. say the same things. but like i said before. it just means more when it comes from a todd gurley. i’m sure his oline and his receiver. shoot maybe even cook. blocked for him that much harder afterwards.
it’s the same thing jackson used to do for this team. and faulk before him.
just very encouraging to read.
October 28, 2015 at 9:27 pm in reply to: 101, 10/28 – Jamie Dukes says, superbowl for Rams if Foles gets hot #33152InvaderRamModeratoryeah. but for foles to get hot, the oline has to gel.
InvaderRamModeratorthat’s great news regarding kendricks. rams need all the help they can get.
InvaderRamModeratorcurrently on pace for:
53 receptions 499 yards 8 tds
37 carries 320 yards 3 tds
37 punt returns 363 yards 3 tdsnot too bad… that’d be career highs in receiving and rushing. not spectacular. but he’s gotten a little better. hopefully he’s better the rest of the way.
Project for the season, that would give him over 2k yards.
oh no. that is for the season. hahaha!
again. not great. but his best season so far. and just hoping that he gets better as the season goes on.
that would be 1182 total yards and 14 touchdowns.

October 27, 2015 at 6:19 pm in reply to: network analysts & others on Gurley (the Gurley-fest thread) #33097InvaderRamModeratoralso i’ve read some people question his speed. well his top speed was 21.21 compared to peterson’s 21.89 and bell’s 20.03. i think the speed is there. i think the explosiveness is there. especially on that 15 yard touchdown to ice the game. i think there’s tremendous power there in his lower legs as evidenced by the 100 yards after contact.
???
100 yards after contact. unreal.
i would still be monitoring his carries for the entire season. that’s just me though.
October 27, 2015 at 6:15 pm in reply to: network analysts & others on Gurley (the Gurley-fest thread) #33095InvaderRamModeratorhe puts a forearm shiver on a defensive end. just shruggs him off on that 48 yard run. crazy. tremendous lower body strength to break tackles.
another thing. on that 48 yard run. i think most guys barrel forward and try to get whatever they can. and it would have been a good run. gurley has not only the vision but the speed to cut across the field and get maybe another 35 yards. though obviously he gets some big help from tavon on a terrific block as well.
InvaderRamModeratorhekker. is this guy seriously the greatest punter in rams’ history?
InvaderRamModeratori could be wrong, but i think cleveland is better than people think and the niners are worse than people might think.
but it’s divisional game so will be tough.
October 26, 2015 at 10:59 pm in reply to: stuff from the net on Browns game including a must-read sideline report #33041InvaderRamModeratorwell the leadership stuff is the stuff i was hoping/waiting to read about gurley. it’s one thing to have a leader. but it’s an entirely different thing to have a leader who can just flat out dominate like todd can. rams haven’t had that since steven jackson. but like steven jackson he needs an offense surrounding him.
InvaderRamModeratorSure, it seems reasonable to expect incremental improvement from the passing game.
Except that I haven’t seen any.
I don’t swim in a stats-filled pool, so I can’t back up my impressions with data, but I would say that I think the most impressive Foles performance was the first game against Seattle.
As I recall, the Rams put together 3 80-yard drives in that game. And, iirc, we haven’t seen anything to match that since.
In fact, the Rams flat out suck.
I don’t know what else to conclude from the fact that the Rams are #1, or near the top, in first down yardage, and at, or near, the bottom in 3rd down conversion, and that they just don’t accomplish sustained drives. I mean, remove the Seattle game, and where are the Rams statistically on offense?
They SUCK, people. The offense SUCKS. You give the Rams a middle-of-the-pack defense, and they are 0-6 right now. Maybe 1-5.
So, yeah, Foles sometimes makes some great downfield throws. But for every one of those, he throws the ball over the head or behind a receiver 10 – 15 yards away from him 3 times.
Yeah, and maybe Quick gets better, and maybe Foles gets better, but I’m not seeing the OL as being the big problem here, and it sure as hell isn’t Gurley.
The Rams can’t pass. They can’t. They can’t make first downs, they can’t control the clock, and they scare nobody in the passing game.
They can contend. Jared Cook will make a big play now and then between his pulled-short routes, and phantom blocks, and Foles will hit a guy once in a while. But they aren’t going to win when it matters because they can’t.
Having said that, I am enjoying the season, and I look forward to December, and I hope they get a playoff game.
But this team needs a QB and a WR.
if it’s the same story by game 16, i’d say yeah. try and find a quarterback in the 2017 draft. see what les’ qb scouting skills are like.
InvaderRamModeratorwhat i’d like to see is the rams do more no huddle with gurley seeing more action the passing game in the no huddle. i mean how does a defense deal with a todd gurley running AND catching the ball. it’d be much harder to defend than a todd gurley just running the ball i’d imagine.
if i’m cignetti, i’m working on expanding that part of the playbook. kinda like how the steelers use bell.
October 26, 2015 at 9:41 pm in reply to: Miklasz: If Anything, the Rams Defense is Underrated #33034InvaderRamModeratorwe’ve seen this defense go against high caliber quarterbacks and not only limit them but really punish them. palmer, wilson, roethlisberger, and rodgers. and not just great quarterbacks, but some pretty exceptional backfields as well.
should be fun to see this defense play out the last 10 games.
InvaderRamModeratorwell i’m at the point where i think the talent level is good enough to have a winning record. so if they don’t have a winning record this season, i’m seriously reevaluating whether a change needs to be made.
but i don’t necessarily anticipate the rams having another losing record. i think they make a run here. no excuse making for me. the oline as it is right now is good enough to get this team over the hump. and i have every reason to believe that it continues to get better as the season goes on.
i’m also curious to see if the rams incorporate more no huddle going forward. the passing game did look better in the second half.
InvaderRamModeratorI thought that this was the Rams best game this year. Some players who I thought had their best games this year: Hayes, Jenkins, Barron, and Fairley. I think the Oline is improving.
the best part? their next game could be even better!
team just has to keep focusing on getting better every day.
InvaderRamModeratorthe good thing about all this is there’s still potential to get better. offensive line is still shaky. but there’s lots of potential there. as opposed to years’ past where what you had was what you got. nick foles can get better. he’s only in his fourth year.
maybe we see some more of this no huddle stuff in the future? does that play to foles’ strengths? cignetti is still trying to figure out how all the pieces fit together. my guess is this offense looks totally different at game 16 than it did today. again. i don’t know if i could have said that in the past.
InvaderRamModeratoroh. well. the dbs hit hard anyway.
i guess brandon fisher is dbacks coach now.
he’s doing a great job. this is the best i’ve seen it since fisher’s been here. losing gaines was tough. but joyner has come a long way since last season. jenkins and johnson having their best seasons ever. safeties are all over the place.
i doubted that hiring. but fisher seems to be doing a great job.
InvaderRamModeratorchuck cecil.
InvaderRamModeratori have no reason to believe there should be any kind of letdown.
but i’m still nervous.
InvaderRamModeratorcan’t wait until kendricks comes back. healthy. should help the running and passing game.
i think the rams missed him today. i really believe that.
also. i liked seeing the gurdle. that was special.
InvaderRamModeratorThis defense may not be elite but they are elite hitters. They are absolutely vicious out there!
if they aren’t already, i think they’re getting there.
i think they’re at least in the top 5 right now, but their goal should be to be the best.
InvaderRamModeratorafter watching janoris today i change my mind. if he can play like this the whole season, i hope the rams can re-sign this guy. if they have to let long or laurinaitis go, i would even go there.
i like barron at linebacker. am i crazy?
i like this defense. just need ogletree to come back healthy.
InvaderRamModeratorTo see Gurley dominating makes me feel smart for fist pumping and exclaiming “yes!” when the Rams drafted him on April 30, 2015.
I had the same reaction. Glad to see it was really warranted.
i still remember that moment. realizing gurley was still on the board and hoping against hope the rams would draft him. my favorite draft pick since steven jackson i think.
October 25, 2015 at 9:13 pm in reply to: Fisher, Foles, Gurley, McCleod, Donald, Jenkins… transcripts #32935InvaderRamModerator(On the effectiveness of Austin’s crackback block)
“Yeah, that means a lot. It’s important to the team for guys as little as he is to block.”that’s funny.
