i’m glad for ej gaines. haven’t watched the game yet but sounds like he was a key player.

i feel much better about the secondary but he needs to stay healthy.

by “cut it” i mean maintain a winning record.

but yeah. there’s probably always outliers when you’re talking about 9-7 teams.

plus this offense is consistently improving from week to week.

curious to see how they fare against buffalo.

was the bucs offense this bad though?

in terms of total yardage we’re getting out gained every week. that’s not going to cut it i don’t think. maybe i’m wrong.

Maybe the Rams running game is just inherently weak due to what…poor run blocking, defenses not respecting the Rams passing game? Both? Neither?

well i wonder too. might there be something going on with gurley? is he not seeing the holes?

if the rams are playing well and keenum is playing well yeah keep it like it is. except in the case of a blowout or something and you could give goff a series or two to get his toes wet.

was gaines the difference for this d? sounds like this d was a lot more consistent than the first three games. wasn’t able to watch it. only heard it.

but shoot. from beginning to end. it sounded like the rams d had the cards offense contained. i hope this lasts.

and keenum again did enough to get another win. shoot. sounds like he did more than just good enough. he played well. he’s making defenses pay. now hopefully this gets gurley going in the future.

carnitas. yes. pork cooked in its own juices.

i’m jealous. i will probably just have some chips and guacamole.

or if i get out i’ll have me some chicken tawouk.

You guys must get out more than I do. You eat all these strange foods. Besides, cheeseburger/fries and pizza, what is there? OK, breakfast and pie.

if you like burgers and pizza, i bet you’d like chicken tawouk. it’s marinated skewered chicken.

    chicken tawouk

ok. not quite but that was by far his biggest year of his career. rams will need an effort like that from todd.

    division leading rams…

    ha!

i’m having difficulty believing they’ll pull out a win tomorrow.

although i do agree with them that pulling out a win after traveling all the way across the country is impressive.

When was the last time we were 3 – 1?

    haha. i don’t even know!

rams offense is going to have to make a huge improvement to win this game.

fisher has said that gurley is close to breaking out. wondering if they’re seeing something on film that leads them to believe that.

they also comment on gurley’s attitude post-game interviews. i think he’s just pissed. lindsey seems unimpressed by todd, but i think he’s just not pleased with his performance so far. if he can get loose, rams have a chance.

then a few series later, Goff suddenly turned into Alan Alda from the movie Paper Lion, (at least he didn’t run into the goal post)

i think at that point a lot of regular players had been pulled. not sure. i think it was partially due to him. partially due to being out of sync with his teammates.

i think he’s pretty close, but fisher wants to get him as ready as possible before throwing him in.

besides keenum is doing just enough to get the rams by. so no pressure yet to rush him yet.

i think fisher knows what he’s doing. he did a good job with mcnair. and i think fisher has a genuine like for goff unlike young who was forced on him.

as zn and others have pointed out he’s not only done this with qbs, he’s done this with guys like donald and quinn. and to a certain extent gurley although it could be argued that gurley sat out because he was recovering from the acl injury. and while those guys still played on a part time basis you can’t do that at qb.

this is his mo. if goff is who we think he is and who fisher thinks he is this won’t even matter in the long run.

that being said i hope he’s starting next week.

edit. i included quinn, but fisher did not coach quinn his rookie year. oops.

Donald may now be the best defensive player in the NFL.

Reading that makes this Rams fan proud.

    .

yes. yes yes yes! proud for sure. rams can’t let this go to waste. they need to put the pieces around him and quinn (hopefully he can stay healthy for many years) and build a complete defense. a great defense.

wondering if the oline can work out some kinks before this sunday.

what i wouldn’t give to see a truly great rams defense in my lifetime. that would be something else. i liked the gsot and all. but i want to see an all-time rams defense.

shore up the secondary. be consistent. and stay healthy. that would do it.

quinn and donald are certainly special. they’re young, so lots of football left to play.

but since i’ve been watching (since 1995) i haven’t seen anything like that duo.

carter and little were great defensive ends. i think both for a short time showed the explosiveness and playmaking ability that quinn has. and that for me is where quinn needs to separate himself. he needs the longevity. so far this season i’m encouraged that he can get himself back to the level that we saw a couple years ago. i think he needs to do it for 4 more seasons at least to separate himself from those two.

aaron donald. i’ve never seen anything like him on the rams at the defensive tackle position. beyond special i think he has the ability to be transcendent. on top of unreal athletic ability just absolutely relentless. forget about that. i don’t think i’ve seen a rams player as relentless as him on the defensive side of the ball. bar maybe london fletcher.

the two of them together could be unreal. comparing them to merlin and deacon? personally i can’t say cuz i never really watched those two outside nfl films clips. but at this point those two are almost mythic to me. so it’s hard for me to compare these quinn and donald to 2 seemingly deified football players.

    Top defensive grades:

    DT Aaron Donald, 84.4

    LB Alec Ogletree, 84.3

    S T.J. McDonald, 81.7

    DT Michael Brockers, 76.5

    DE Robert Quinn, 73.3

Well, I guess we can conclude that the Ogletree to MLB experiment is a huge success.

The run defense hasn’t suffered with Tree at MLB (it may even be better) and he covers a lot more ground than Lauranitis did in pass defense.

That was one calculated risk that paid off nicely, anyway.

yeah. alec is another of my favorites. was having a huge year last year until the injury. good to see him pick up where he left off. at a new position even. and with all the leadership and responsibilities that go with that.

i want to see more consistency though from this defense. too much talent and too many mental lapses for my taste. but the secondary being in such shambles may have something to do with that.
