InvaderRamModerator
kyren williams was awesome. what a difference a running game makes. part of it was the defense they were going up against but that’s the best the running game has looked since kyren left.
InvaderRamModeratorWell, maybe not the ‘team’ but more like the ‘season.’
yeah. it’ll tell us a lot about the season, but i will remain hopeful for the team as long as the young players continue to show progress and as long as stafford comes out healthy.
having said that the rams should be able to win this game.
InvaderRamModeratori’m thinking/hoping kyren makes a big difference.
InvaderRamModeratorI’m not saying I have the answer or that “out of sync” isn’t a real issue, but it doesn’t really tell us much. It can simply be a wastebasket term where we toss problems that are hard to identify.
well i would guess injuries would be the main culprit for being out of sync. but yeah i’m really only guessing.
InvaderRamModeratorAlso, if we can go beyond the Rams for the best running backs we’ve ever seen
barry sanders was the guy i grew up watching thinking he was the best i had ever seen.
InvaderRamModeratorof the ones you listed i only saw faulk, jackson, gurley, and bettis.
i think gurley had the intangibles that you say he lacked. i really just think it comes down to longevity for him. that knee just wouldn’t hold up. if it did hold up, i think he had a slight chance to challenge faulk for number one – although admittedly an extremely long shot. for one reason. he would most likely have played all his core years with the rams. i downgrade faulk slightly only because he started his career with the colts. even with that slight downgrade it would have taken a herculean effort from gurley to catch him. he would have had to have at least three more hof worthy seasons. meaning 1800+ yards from scrimmage, 15+ tds and two more offensive player of the year awards or an mvp. and also a superbowl.
of course i didn’t see dickerson play so i don’t include him on my list.
InvaderRamModeratoryeah. the whole offense is out of sync. health, lack of time together. all those things. stafford was out of whack until that last quarter. even then i thought the offense got bailed out with some timely penalties. it’s not just kupp although he’s definitely part of it. so a banged up and out of sync qb and a banged up and out of sync wr. combined with an up and down running game and oline troubles.
InvaderRamModeratorwell i too am in favor of installing a grass system in sofi. the tottenham retractable pitch only cost 30 million dollars. mainly because it slides out much like the cardinals’ do theirs. but it’s underground. to the north and to the east of sofi it’s all just parking lots. i’m not an engineer but i wonder if you could just dig up the parking lot and build an underground greenhouse and move the field there. you’d have grow lights underground to give the field adequate light. and then slide it back during game time.
i don’t know. i just don’t want to see players unnecessarily injured or have their careers shortened due to wear and tear of playing on the turf. one billion is excessive, but thirty million doesn’t seem like too much given how much money this stadium generates. not just from two football teams but all the concerts that are held there.

InvaderRamModeratorTotennham breaks up their pitch into 3 pieces and moves it below the car park. They have a turf field below the moving pitch for american football and other events.
yeah. tottenham has a system too. both i think would work in sofi. arizona cardinals’ system wouldn’t.
one problem. i think it cost real madrid one billion dollars to install their system. not sure about tottenham.
InvaderRamModeratorSo the grass would have to be interchangeable with other “flooring,” and where are you going to put a football field when it’s not in the stadium?
real madrid actually have a solution for that. a retractable grass field at the santiago bernabeu. ridiculous and insane. but cool to watch.
InvaderRamModerator“The grass is already being grown,” says COO Kevin Demoff of the natural grass playing fields the Rams will install at the new/temporary facilities. Hope is to get transitioned by offseason programming but team won’t hold training camp here in the short term.
would it be that much harder or more expensive to just have grass fields in sofi stadium?
InvaderRamModeratori wanna see the young players continue to develop and shine. that will give me good feelings.
nacua, young, turner, avila, the second and third year players.
doesn’t have to necessarily translate into wins. but if they can produce and keep this team competitive, i’ll be happy.
InvaderRamModeratori could easily see him play out the remainder of his contract which would see him play through 2026 – his age 38 season.
InvaderRamModeratorhe’s gotta be better than rypien. but now worried about how long stafford will be out.
InvaderRamModeratorInvaderRamModeratoryeah. i have doubts about whether the niners can afford young beyond this season.
i think the rams are in good shape. now is not the time to be making a trade like that.
InvaderRamModerator9ers all-in like the Rams were two years ago, although they gave up a lot less for Young than the Rams did for Miller. A lot less.
he’s younger than miller was when the rams traded for him, but his career has not been nearly as impressive. at least not yet. he is supposedly having the best year of his career to date.
InvaderRamModeratorit started out well enough. the defense was putting heavy pressure on prescott. and then the ticky tack illegal contact foul which extended the drive. and then it all fell apart from there. mistakes and another questionable non-call.
just very depressing. but probably most depressing was the stafford injury.
i don’t know what else to say at this point. don’t want to make any sweeping statements about the future of this team. there’s plenty left of the season to play out. i’m gonna try to reserve any such statements until the season is over.
InvaderRamModeratordisappointed. but yeah. lots of positives. kind of disappointing to have to say that. two missed field goals. unforced errors. and some really bad calls at the end that went against the rams.
but the offense isn’t clicking quite the way i expect it to. it’s not the running game. i think the oline did well today. it’s the passing game. kupp had his worst game in a long time. there was at least one miscommunication between him and stafford that resulted in an intentional grounding call. kupp is still working his way back.
yeah. i’m just hoping the team can keep improving as the season goes on.
InvaderRamModeratorThis topic is just going to have lots of different takes from different posters. In my view
for sure. it’s just interesting to think about. there are pros and cons to each – keeping goff or trading for stafford. no wrong answer i don’t think.
InvaderRamModeratorputting the superbowl aside. i wonder how the rams with goff and all those first round picks would be doing right now.
i still like stafford a lot. but i like goff too. maybe it was just mcvay and goff not being compatible. or maybe mcvay and snead we’re just a little too impulsive. maybe an older mcvay and snead don’t make that trade. but they were also desperate to win the big one.
InvaderRamModeratorI guess we iz gonna see Zach Evans, then? 5’11’, 202 Lbs. 4.51 forty yard dash. (is that fast? seems kinda average aint it?)
nothing stands out too much there. but his agility numbers are very good.
shorts shuttle – 4.25. 3-cone – 6.89.
and then it’ll come down to instincts. it should be pretty apparent pretty quickly if he can cut it at this level.
October 19, 2023 at 8:42 pm in reply to: Rams on the radar this year who weren’t before the season #146297InvaderRamModeratori had written atwell off. and he has totally caught me off guard. happy for him. a lot of people i think criticized that pick.
InvaderRamModeratorSo look for the Rams to throw it a lot.
seriously. i’ll be so annoyed if that happens. not just because it would play into the steelers’ strength. but if they do give evans a significant amount of playing time his biggest question mark is supposed to be his pass blocking. let evans run the ball.
InvaderRamModeratori like young at the edge. not trying to diminish what he’s done so far and look for him to continue to improve, but i would still like to see another edge opposite him next season.
i also like evans’ profile on paper but want to see him do it on the field. athletically he’s the best rb the rams have.
and a dominant end to help donald out would be cool. maybe with the rams first pick in 24?
also this may be the season the rams finally lose morris to a hc job. that would be a shame but also would be happy for him.
InvaderRamModeratorSteve Avila likes to play football. This is a guy who likes nothing better in life than to pancake some guy’s ass.
seriously haven’t been this excited about a rams offensive lineman since greg robinson… hopefully he turns out better than robinson did.
InvaderRamModeratorStafford and Donald are not getting any younger. I dont know how long the Rams window will be open after next year. Might be another ‘All In’ year. I dunno.
i worry less about stafford, but i think donald has about two years left past this season. there’s not many defensive linemen if any who can produce at a high level past 34 years old. 2025 will be his age 34 season.
InvaderRamModeratorwell that blows.
InvaderRamModeratoryeah. i don’t know much about ekeler. haven’t seen him too much. but if kyren williams can replicate him in terms of production. around 12oo-1300 yards from scrimmage. and then you get a second running back who can give him sufficient rest without too much loss in production. that would be ideal for me.
InvaderRamModeratorEither the Cardinals have a major run-defense problem, or the Rams are developing a physical running-game. Interesting ‘way’ to win a Ram/Cardinal game. What if teams in the future have to worry about a Rams…running game? Important division win. w v
i still would plan on strengthening the oline and finding another running back if i were the rams. they don’t need to spend major capital on that second rb. whether that is evans or some lower round draft pick i don’t know. i don’t know that williams can hold up over the course of an entire season by himself. but williams in tandem with another reliable solid running back would be super fun to watch. especially with kupp, nacua, atwell, and higbee catching passes.
at oline i would spend major draft capital on finding a left tackle. if they can find a left tackle and a second running back to pair with williams, i think the rams could have that dominant running game.
