InvaderRamModeratorthis must be a middle finger to jeff fisher from kevin…
he’s lost kevin now too…
just a bad joke, ok? i’m sorry!
haha.
InvaderRamModeratorwell i at least think it’s fair to now say that fisher has lost eric dickerson…………
November 28, 2016 at 12:48 am in reply to: Goff Goes Off! Rookie Throws 3 TDs in First Half | Rams vs. Saints | NFL – Video #59683
InvaderRamModeratorjust watched the first half. his feet and pocket awareness are so sweet to watch. and that arm.
one thing i found interesting while listening to the game on the radio. announcers were saying he wasn’t calling some protections right in the second half. needs to iron some things out maybe but would seem to be correctable.
that int. a little too careless.
InvaderRamModeratorand i also have to say that the defense has performed well overall. so yeah. fisher has to get credit for that.
maybe the oc needs to be changed. i don’t know. again i say all this while acknowledging that much of what i’m saying is speculation.
i just don’t think fisher comes away from this clean.
InvaderRamModeratorthat’s very true. i will say that solving such a crucial position on offense will make a lot of this go away. i’m certainly not denying that.
but we also know that qb performance is related to the pieces around him which is one reason why dak is doing so well in dallas. and one reason why case was having difficulty performing in this offense.
so goff being an answer doesn’t solve the other problems on offense.
InvaderRamModeratorwell we disagree obviously. and that’s fine.
it’s not just one mistake here or there. it’s the cumulative effect. not just of penalties. mental errors. tavon supposedly not being ready for the ny game. gurley not being prepared for the season. ogletree one year showing up not ready.
it may be a simple theory. then again just getting goff up and running is simple too.
usually it’s a combination of things. it might be a combination of those two factors as well as others such as needing a new coordinator.
who knows?
InvaderRamModeratorRams coach Jeff Fisher has never lost to the Saints in his 20 years as a head coach. He’s 5-0 all-time.
that’s not what i want to read. now i’m thinking he’s due for a loss. haha.
i know i know. it doesn’t affect this result one way or another.
InvaderRamModeratorwhen i say fisher has lost this team i don’t mean to say players are revolting against him.
i believe players like playing for him. i just think players have gotten way too comfortable on his team. there are no repercussions to the constant mental errors. i remember tavon saying that he was unprepared at the giants game. maybe they finally make changes on the oline this weekend. gurley not training as hard this offseason? well why not get him some more reps in the preseason. don’t let him off easy.
there isn’t a healthy fear of him. it’s too easy maybe playing under fisher. i don’t know. i could be totally off base here.
InvaderRamModeratorhe doesn’t have to be another brady. he just has to stay healthy and be better than bradford.
for the amount of draft capital they gave up and the inability to add talent with those picks. yeah he’ll have to be really good. he can’t just be good. he’s gonna have to be top 10 at least.
austin and quick get scrutinized cuz they’re not that good. it sucks. but that’s the reality. it’s part of why this offense is so mediocre. it’s not just the coaching. although that’s certainly part of it. it’s also that for whatever reason their skill position players have not panned out. austin, quick, pead, bailey, stacy…
constantly missing on these skill position players has hurt this team. hopefully, gurley and goff don’t fall in that category. that goes for higbee and cooper as well. i’d include spruce but he’s a udfa.

InvaderRamModeratornorv turner would be interesting. that would definitely give me good feelings.
InvaderRamModeratoralso on goff. because of the trade up to get him he better be way way way way better than bradford ever was.
i agree with ag. not a good move trading up.
InvaderRamModeratorthe brady argument is weak. i agree. no way anyone could predict that.
but the patriots as a staff have a knack for picking up retreads or picking up little known players in the draft and getting the most out of them.
ok now granted one can’t compare to belichick. i agree with that too.
but fisher and staff have a knack for drafting dumb players. they have a tendency to make untimely errors. is that coaching? do they need to focus maybe a little more on intelligence?
maybe they hit on the goff pick and all this is forgotten… if they don’t hit on this pick then i definitely see no possible way fisher comes back from that.
but i will say their track record on dbacks and dlinemen is very very good. i’ll give them that. they’re also pretty good at finding rb talent. i think.

InvaderRamModeratorSo, what separates some teams as better than others? The ability to make better decisions and commit less mistakes will give them an edge over the variations of chance. imo
well how does he compare to the other 31 coaches there?
i have no idea. is there even a website which evaluates that? ya know like a metric for nfl coaches.
pff should work on that.

InvaderRamModeratori remain hopeful with goff. and gurley for that matter.
i can only hope goff shows real promise down this last stretch and gurley looks like the gurley of his first six games.
that will give me some hope.
InvaderRamModeratorI know Belicheat does two things he cheats, he is the best at in game decisions and strategy, and he cheats.
He does two other things, he cheats, his teams make fewer mistakes, and he cheats.
jaja.
we said at the beginning keenum could win with a strong defense, a strong oline, and a running game. i still believe that to be true. this coaching staff has screwed two of those things up. on top of that the wr corps is a mess outside of mr britt.
i can forgive the problem at qb. it’s everything else on offense that’s been a disaster.
i just hope the gurley pick was the right one…
ack. and to be fair. a lot of these fisher picks i liked at the time. but i’m not the one getting paid to make these decisions thankfully.

InvaderRamModeratoryup. he did not get draft picks right. if he coulda hit on grob and austin. those 2 alone would have made a huge difference.
to be fair the austin pick was a hard one. hopkins maybe but no one saw him as an upper tier first round talent. many wanted patterson, but he’s been even worse.
grob, however, was a blown pick. and this is coming from someone who was really positive about the pick at the time. but looking back either lewan or matthews would have been a better pick.
InvaderRamModeratorWell he’s not Larry Fitzgerald is he. As we’ve discussed sixteen gazillion times by now, he is not a pure no.1 WR. Or even a pure no.2 WR.
He’s a dangerous punt returner, and a weapon the defense has to account for,
but seems to ABLE to account for fairly easily.he’s not even a dangerous punt returner now.
i was excited when they re-signed him. now. i’m thinking it was a huge mistake.
part of it is they aren’t using him right. i realize that. but this is also pretty much the same offensive staff intact. things like this shouldn’t be happening.
InvaderRamModeratordo we make anything of donald and gurley supposedly ducking interviews?
my opinion. he’s losing this team. maybe i’m wrong, but there’s no fear there. the team continually makes minor errors to cost them games, and no consequences.
but i blame the players too. gotta hold each other responsible. where’s the leadership?
InvaderRamModeratorI too, have constructed a new meaning for Thanksgiving. I use it as a time to reflect on the carnage offensive lines have suffered in the past,
and i give thanks for the Rams healthy but totally ineffective offensive line.w
vjeff should build a wall.
around goff.
InvaderRamModeratornever heard of the discovery doctrine. found this bit on wikipedia.
Chief Justice John Marshall had large real estate holdings that would have been affected if the case were decided in favor of Johnson. Rather than remove himself from the case, however, the chief justice wrote the decision for a unanimous USA Supreme Court.
yikes.
InvaderRamModeratorare you trying to say we immigrated to this country unlawfully?
…
someone pass the turkey and gravy!
seriously though. this world is pretty fucked up ain’t it?
InvaderRamModeratorI see them as seeing themselves as back to business as usual–and the truth is, that offense IS more productive than it was against Miami.
i don’t want to see business as usual. i want to see some winning football.
seriously though i do expect them to open it up a little this week. offensive line should have an easier time blocking.
i’m still looking forward to goff’s first regular season td pass…
InvaderRamModeratorturkey with all the fixings. and then usually some tamales and rice. and then sometimes some fried pork cutlets. pretty traditional.
InvaderRamModeratorkill all the animals and eat half the humans.
actually i’ll change that to kill all the animals. eat all the vegetarians.
badabing!

November 23, 2016 at 11:15 am in reply to: and the answer is more complicated than you might think #59313
InvaderRamModeratorOf course not. I’m just tired of the constant pigeon-holing of middle Americans as less thans because they don’t have any higher education on their CV’s. Why make a point of it? What difference does it make? Does it make me less informed or signify an inability to think critically? Am I somehow less enlightened? Do I think only linearly? Why shouldn’t I take exception to that? What if I constantly harped on the idea that college students don’t know how to think for themselves? What if I kept suggesting that colleges are like liberal cults that are breeding grounds for mindless twits who only know how to parrot the things with which they’ve been indoctrinated, and it’s THEY who are responsible for the past 8 years of moral regression and fiscal irresponsibility? Would it bother you if every article you read suggested as much?
my own personal belief. many humans are like this. not just the people who voted for trump.
i mean why did people vote for obama? as someone said before probably for some very superficial reasons. only because he was black. because of some stupid slogan of “change”.
these elections appeal to the most basic desires and fears of humans. it’s all dumb. in my opinion. the people who voted for obama are every bit as ignorant as the people who voted for trump.
not everyone of course. but it played a significant part.
InvaderRamModeratorA rumor is, he did not work as hard this off-season. Lost weight, and explosion. Bought into burger commerical fame in the big city.
i think the weight loss has made a huge difference. he doesn’t break tackles like he used to.
maybe it’s just a matter of prioritizing and rededicating himself.
on changing coaches. yeah. change just for the sake of change isn’t going to help anything.
but i wouldn’t be disappointed if it happened.
InvaderRamModeratorShowed the same pocket-presence and escapability and niftyness in the pocket we saw on the college vids.
yeah. he’s nimble. that’s the biggest difference i see between him and bradford.
hopefully we see the staff give him more responsibility as the season goes on.
InvaderRamModeratorwhatever it is it’s not headed in the right direction. although i have to also say that the dems were not headed in the right direction either.
InvaderRamModeratorif they do decide to go in a different direction, i can say that this should be an attractive gig. a talented defense, talent in the backfield. and i credit fisher for that.
one other thing i was thinking is they keep fisher and hire a new oc. maybe a hot oc candidate who fisher can hand the reins to in a couple years when fisher steps down to a cozy front office job…
one can hope anyway.
