i’d still get rid of that rams logo on the shoulder, but it definitely looks better without the gold.

i don’t have a problem acquiring more offensive linemen.

Hey i.r. … I wasn’t disagreeing with you, I was more in “agree and then add more by changing the topic somewhat” mode.

I didn’t think you were against acquiring linemen the Vermeil way.

    i know.

two defensive linemen i want to watch tomorrow.

i don’t have a problem acquiring more offensive linemen. just not in the second round. not even the third round.

just not worth it. not when you can get a cornerback which would be much better value for your pick. or a defensive lineman. and there will be plenty there.

if that player has a chance to be exceptional, then go for it. but i don’t see any linemen available in the second round with the chance to be exceptional. the offensive line is young. maybe the coaching staff can develop them.

there’s gonna be guys on defense available who could be great players.

my hope is that running backs go early. and then of course qbs get over drafted. that’ll allow some defensive backs and defensive linemen to fall lower than they should.

the more i read and after this first round of workouts, i’m becoming more convinced that this is an extremely weak offensive class.

i was thinking oline in the second round, and while it’s urgent that they fix the offense, i’m now thinking they should just draft defense. it’s so deep in corners and defensive line, they should just go with strength and try to develop what they currently have on the roster.

i got this feeling that defense is gonna blow this combine out of the water.

drafting on need is going to kill this team.

i like elfein too. i was also pleased to see that he measured at 6’3″ 300 pounds. i was actually expecting him to be smaller. i just don’t know that they can get him with the limited number of draft picks they have.

i know they can’t change the jersey yet, but when they do, get rid of the gold and get rid of that stupid rams logo on the shoulder. i hate that rams logo.

    36 1/2″ arms. 10 1/2″ hands.

very long. has room to fill out. very good basketball player. supposedly got some looks from college teams there so must be athletic.

just extremely raw from what i’ve read. i want to see how he does in the drills, but assuming he checks out there, i would absolutely take him in the second round. again supposedly very impressive in the senior bowl.

then look heavily at secondary in the later rounds. perhaps defensive line too.

“Yeah,” Shanahan said, “he’s been ready for a while.”

yeah. my suspicion is that it’ll be similar to what mcvay went through with gruden. once the system is installed and mcvay wants to sit back and look at the bigger picture he’ll hand over playcalling duties to lafleur as long as he’s comfortable with it. probably not this season but maybe next season.

one guy i’m keeping an eye on is julie’n davenport. he’s not in the top 50 but i could see him shooting up draft boards depending on his combine performance. he killed it at the senior bowl.

yeah. seems like healthcare or access to healthcare. or things like clean water and clean air. or say a habitable planet would be bigger priorities than say a terrorist attack which would be less likely to kill us all.

i think it’s the right choice. they need possibly 2 cornerbacks. so unless they could sign one in free agency, they’d need to draft 2. i just don’t see that happening with any kind of success, and i think this defense has a chance to be really good.

keep tru for at least one more year. draft one. and then draft one next year if they decide to let tru go then.

and it’s not just the cornerbacks. they need to draft a safety this year as well.

i think they should tag him and hopefully eventually re-sign him. then draft a free safety.

The key is….it’s what the players can and can not do.

yeah. he’s going to make adjustments here and there, so it won’t be exactly like the denver d, but he’s had so much experience converting defenses that he’ll find a way to get it done.

still i expect them to make some additions to the front seven either through free agency or the draft.

so then what would be an answer moving forward?

cuz i haven’t heard a solution that makes any kind of success.

i just hear a big shit storm coming our way.

i’m very optimistic. i think mcvay, olson, and lafleur have the ability to develop a qb and a passing game as long as the talent is there.

but then i also think kromer has the ability to develop the oline and the running game. and i also hope lafleur can add something to that side of the offense as well being around shanahan for so long.

on paper it looks like a good mix.

but i’m also prepared for more of the same. it’s just been so long since the rams have had any success.

i think it’s possible. phillips has done this before. convert a 4-3 to a 3-4 one gap defense. several times actually.

I agree ZN, I am impressed by the quality of this coaching staff. Seems to me the people that put this plan together and executed it really did their homework. Just listening to the interviews they all seem to fit together. Time will tell but maybe removing Fisher when they did gave them a jump on forming the new staff.

very true. a lot has been said about the quality and experience they’ve surrounded goff with.

but the same should be said of gurley. kromer was part of the number one rushing attack in the league. lafleur came from the number five rushing attack in the league. he’s learned under a coach who’s always been strong in both the rush and the pass.

the rams need to find a way to blend in both gurley’s and goff’s abilities into what is hopefully (HOPEFULLY!) a dynamic offense.

    i like it so far.

and as far as defense goes no more needs to be said. excellent defensive staff.

and then bones of course on special teams.

I say all of those things combined is good for 4-5 more wins right out the gate and that’s regardless what else happens.

very possible. and with a strong draft and free agency?

    a winning season???

i’ve heard this too many times to get my hopes up just yet. maybe after the draft…

i’ve said this before, but i know lafleur must have gotten plenty of exposure to the shanahan passing game, but i wonder how much of the zbs he was able to absorb during his time with mike. which was a long time.

if they could marry elements of that running game with anything kromer might have absorbed with his time under that greg roman offense (quite possibly the 2 most potent running games in the league last year). well that would be something.

and not only that but shanny’s ability to marry the running game with the passing game so effectively. i hope lafleur can bring that to the table as well.
