i’d like to see just two things this season.

i’d like to see donald extended.

and i want to see goff at least in the top 15 of all nfl qbs.

yeah. if goff is going to be the answer, we’re going to see evidence of this immediately. not that he’ll be a pro bowl qb. but we’ll see definite signs.

and mcvay can help him get there. and a better offensive line and receivers can make his job easier.

but ultimately, it’s up to goff. and i’m reading all the right things so far. but maybe i’m just being too optimistic at this point.

i do wonder how much time goff will get in the preseason games. i think he should get as much time as possible. i think it’s imperative for goff and the whole offense to get as many valuable reps as they can. i’ll be paying closer attention to these preseason games than i have since bradford was drafted.

i will say this. i think the rams got the best guy to help goff realize his potential. i like his demeanor. i think it’ll be a good marriage.

Said he was not one who was jumping up and down thinking Goff was going to be a star and must go 1 overall but said those calling him a bust right now are no more right than those saying they know he’s a can’t miss talent.

this is the main thing i take away from that. basically we have no idea. and much of it depends on goff.

if the rams hit on this guy, it’ll take care of a lot of problems. if they bust, then yeah the rams are in deep shit.

but like polian says we don’t know yet.

also glad to see goff putting on weight. ideally i think he’d be around 230 pounds or so.

yeah. that’s 25 years of oc/qb coach experience (excluding what kromer brings) compared to… do i have this right? two years of oc/qb coach experience the previous year?

    yikes.

although mcvay was never a qb coach. but he was offensive coordinator and worked with cousins i’m sure.

And the entire Fisher-led staff entered 2016 with one season of directly coaching NFL quarterbacks.

    yeah.

    that’s just ridiculous.

compare that to now with mcvay, lafleur, and olson.

i suspect mannion is not as good as goff.

that’s just my opinion. and dickerson certainly is around the team more than i am.

i also don’t think for a second mcvay keeps mannion on the bench if he thinks he’s the better play.

was he not around when griffin got replaced by cousins?

he wasn’t the offensive coordinator the whole time, but his first year as offensive coordinator was when cousins took the job from griffin iii for good. maybe he didn’t make the final decision. it was probably gruden, but still. mcvay probably learned from that experience. play your best damn players.

goff being a number one pick isn’t gonna change that. he’ll get first dibs, but if mannion is better, he’ll play.

although yes. i was against the trade up.

there’s a synergistic effect to be sure.

not just across units (i would also say improvements at wr should make goff better and in turn should make the line better).

but within the unit as well. they need not just experience as individuals. and they should be a year wiser. but they need experience playing together. they also need consistency. hopefully, this oline can stay together and players can stay at their position consistently and get some chemistry going.

lots of things to watch this training camp.

shoot if i was a team who needed a running back, i’d give him a try.

shoot if i was sean mcvay, i’d try to convince him to return. it’s not a sure thing that gurley will be a success.

The Rams defense is the least of my worries given their overall talent level and Phillips’ history of immediately improving them. I think it’s more likely that it takes a step forward than a step back, anyway.

i agree especially with joyner moving to free safety. plus i think quinn moving to linebacker will help him especially if he loses some weight which i think he should.

not to mention the addition of barwin on the other side.

Don’t know if it was merely a coincidence, but almost all of Saffold’s injuries seemed to occur while playing left tackle. The Rams’ thought Saffold’s strength and mobility could be best used at guard. The Rams’ now-former line coach, Paul Boudreau, once told me they liked Saffold best at guard, followed by left tackle, and then right tackle third.

    i agree.

Demoff is riding high at the moment – and has never been more powerful in the organization – after helping to steer the team out of St. Louis and into the land of milk & honey, and greater profits.

    blarg.

    such a great player.

only problems were getting nicked up by little injuries and playing on some pretty crappy teams.

    and what a stiff arm.

oh man i hope the rams made the right decision.

    i think they did.

i’ll say this manziel was a mental case and weeden was overdrafted of the first rounders.

and i haven’t read about a single prospect among those names who had the arm talent of goff.

i don’t doubt that players loved to play for fisher. i don’t doubt that they played hard for him.

i think the mistake was hiring boras and in general a bunch of inexperienced coaches combined with a young roster of offensive players. maybe it wouldn’t have made a difference. maybe with the move and with a journeyman qb and one of the greenest rookie qbs possible it would have made little difference but i don’t think it helped. it was short sighted of fisher.

and maybe options were limited. but my gut says boras was not the guy. and i write this knowing i write it with the benefit of hindsight. cuz i was hopeful at the time of the hiring that it was the right one.

I am ready to move on from Johnson. Besides, I don’t think the Rams can keep everybody next year.

so who on the defense would you want to keep?

of the ones who will become free agents of course.

correct me if i’m wrong, but that would be joyner, alexander, ogletree, barwin.

an inexperienced unit? how much experience would higbee even add?

hopefully everett and hemingway step up. they still have harkey, and maybe we even see some sam rogers.

an aside note. i’m a little worried about mcvay trying to handle both hc and playcalling duties as a 31 year old rookie hc. moreso after reading about gruden.

i’m hoping he eventually hands the playcalling duties to lafleur.

he reminds me at least in terms of frame of von miller.

with one difference. his arms are slightly shorter. 32.5″ compared to von miller’s 33.5″.

in terms of explosion and agility numbers, ebukam actually scores slight higher in explosion numbers (40, vertical, broad). unfortunately, in the agility numbers (3 cone and short shuttle), ebukam actually scores lower. 7.02 and 4.31 compared to von miller who ran 6.70 and 4.06.

i value the agility numbers more. but phillips definitely has a guy he can mold.

why wouldn’t they send him to prison?

is it so that higbee can earn a salary and pay the victim for damages?

or cuz it was one punch and not a continued assault?

    confusing.

i like ogletree too. it’s just weird that pff has never had more than lukewarm things to say when it comes to him.

they don’t even mention him in any of the above articles but do about easley and barron.

wow. pff doesn’t seem to think much of ogletree.

wonder if the rams would be better off just drafting someone rather than re-signing alec.

and i’m guessing what that tells us is he has no problems throwing the ball. it’s everything else about being a qb that’s the problem.

i’d also like to know where his adjusted completion percentage ranks. not just the difference.
