InvaderRamModeratori’m not gonna feel comfortable with this team until 10 years and multiple superbowls from now.
InvaderRamModeratorya know. not that it matters. but he plays the most important position on the nation’s most popular sport. in the nation’s second largest market.
if he can achieve success, he’ll be la’s hottest athlete since kobe. unless kershaw can win a world series. which he possibly could. the dodgers are playing historically well this year. well there’s trout too. but he doesn’t really play in los angeles.
not that it matters.
InvaderRamModeratorthe sense i get is this practice is going much better the second time around.
InvaderRamModeratorwell i feel that if brown was really taking off at the new position, mcvay wouldn’t feel the need to try different combinations. i still want to see who starts this saturday and where.
InvaderRamModerator11 on 11 just started Havenstien at RT Brown at RG
not quite sure what to make of it. i’m guessing if havenstein starts this saturday it’s more than just experimenting.
InvaderRamModeratorWell depends on what you mean by prove it. Show progress and the ability to develop? Win a lot? Either way you would think McVay knows what he’s looking for.
i think the ability to prove he can be a starting qb.
specifically i have no idea. but yeah. i’m sure mcvay knows. and he’ll be around him every day. i think he’ll know by the end of the year.

InvaderRamModeratorThat said if it becomes clear Goff can’t handle the job I couldn’t take another Tony Banks length tryout .
i have no doubt mcvay will pull goff if it’s clear he isn’t the guy. and it won’t take long.
my bet is he’s got one season to prove it. and if he isn’t rams go after cousins if he’s available.

InvaderRamModeratorTodd Gurley Touchdown Run
Check out this touchdown run by Todd Gurley during the Rams’ joint practice with the Chargers at StubHub Center.

reports on gurley seem to be unanimously positive including those from mcvay himself.
goff still seems to be a work in progress although that isn’t particularly surprising.
excited about gurley though.

InvaderRamModeratorUnder McVay, the Redskins’ offense excelled at throwing the football but ranked 20th in the NFL in rushing yards per attempt in 2015 and 2016. In that two-year stretch, however, McVay’s offensive line coach Aaron Kromer oversaw a Bills unit that helped Buffalo lead the NFL in rushing in back-to-back seasons.
yeah. one key is how mcvay and kromer can find a way to blend in the running game with the passing game. that should be interesting.

InvaderRamModeratori sometimes have visions that gurley goes back to being that running back we saw the first half of his rookie season. kupp wins offensive rookie of the year. woods finally gets to shine in a passing oriented offense. and higbee and everett provide goff with big targets downfield and in the red zone.
i can’t wait until next saturday. it’ll be one of the best saturdays i’ve had in months.

InvaderRamModeratoryeah a lot of it depends on injuries and who is available. and it looks like capwise it’s not possible right now.
i did read that they are using him like fisher used him, but i actually take that as a negative. i take it that he’s not adapting well to the mcvay offense and what he requires of tavon with mcvay just trying to make whatever use he can out of him. but if guys like coop and thomas can adapt i see tavon being phased out this year.
of course that depends on if these guys can even play so a lot of things have to happen to get to a point where the rams are willing to cut tavon.

InvaderRamModeratorthis might be just me projecting. but the rams will be looking for any excuse to cut tavon when possible. he’s not a mcvay guy, and they’re probably thinking the money could be used elsewhere. austin will have to pretty much make it impossible for the rams to cut him.
with what i’ve been reading about coop (pharoh that is). and the reports are generally positive from what i can tell. i just don’t see tavon having a role. again. unless he can play lights out.
as it is i see woods and kupp as the outside guys (similar to garcon and jackson). and then i see coop in a crowder type slot receiver role.
of course there isn’t a jackson type deep threat among those three. but that’s where thomas would come in.

InvaderRamModeratorGood job, collecting all the tweets, zn.
yes. great job. nice reading the tweets and then seeing it happen on the videos. great stuff.
InvaderRamModeratori do agree about the toughness. i think goff has it. i think the problem is processing the information in front of him. that’s just being overwhelmed. hopefully, mcvay simplifies that for him. but yeah. i think the kid is tough enough.
InvaderRamModeratorwell. we’ll find out. by the end of the season, we’ll have a decent idea of what the rams have at qb. or at least mcvay will.

InvaderRamModeratorsounds like gurley is doing good things. goff too but still lots to work on.
it’s only one clip, but whitworth looks like he’s in total command. i hope he’s got three years left in him.
InvaderRamModeratorwell if everett is the next reed and kupp is the next harrison and higbee is the next kelce, then the rams should be just fine i think.
InvaderRamModeratorHemmingway getting a lot of work with “1’s”. I think he will contribute this year.
hemingway’s a sleeper. he’s got length. big hands. athletic. he’s just raw. but if anyone can develop this guy, i’d think it’s mcvay.
InvaderRamModeratorsamson ebukam too. he and sam will be special teams demons for sure with a chance to make some plays on defense and offense as well.
and you know their teammates will love them.
InvaderRamModerator3) Johnson This is actually my highest value pick. He doesn’t jump off the list, and he’s not even expected to do anything this year … but you have a Free Safety with the skillset of a CB and the size of a box safety. And he’s smart. This gives us options this year and next year at the safety position.
i agree with almost everything except he doesn’t have the size of a box safety. not even close. but i think it’s worth keeping an eye on him with joyner’s contract coming up.
besides him kupp, rogers, and ebukam are the guys i see making an impact. maybe not immediately but in the near future.
InvaderRamModeratornice to hear on ebukam. hopefully he can help out with the pass rush too.
maybe even become a starter in the future.
InvaderRamModeratorsounds almost too good to be true.
i guess we’ll find out.
i suspect a lot of it is the way the offense is taught.
taught in terms of learning concepts rather than just trying to digest an entire playbook. i personally found that to be the most effective way of learning anything really.
mcvay seems to love teaching more than anything. we’ll see soon enough.
InvaderRamModeratori like that mcvay is covering receivers. i like the energy.
i just hope he isn’t actually able to successfully cover them. that would be a little worrisome.
InvaderRamModeratorThey used a draft choice for him, so I figure they have a place for him.
well yeah. i figure he makes the team, but i hope he can actually carve out a significant role in the offense.
i like him. i wanna be cheering on guys i like. not guys like britt.
ha.
InvaderRamModeratorhe should have a show where humans hunt other humans.
…
was that too much?
InvaderRamModeratori’m really rooting for this guy. not just cuz he’d immediately become my favorite player. i think he could do serious damage blocking and catching the ball.
i just hope mcvay finds ways to incorporate a fullback into his offense.
InvaderRamModeratorwell let’s hope it happens. i think this defense has a chance to do some great things. maybe even become something special.
InvaderRamModeratormaybe, but it gives cooper and spruce a tiny opening. if they can make a strong enough impression, who knows?
also special teams has to be taken into account. do spruce or coop have any value on special teams?
InvaderRamModeratornot saying goff is gonna be eli.
but i hate eli. extremely overrated qb.
i’m hoping he can be another dan fouts.
