InvaderRamModeratorjared goff leads the league in yards per attempt at 8.5.
he’s second in adjusted yards per attempt which factors in touchdowns and interceptions at 9.0.
he’s first in net yards per attempt which subtracts sack yardage and includes sacks as part of the attempts at 7.81.
he’s first in adjusted net yards per attempt which factors in touchdowns and interceptions into the net yards per attempt number at 8.28.
he’s also first in yards per completion with 13.9.
most likely he does not maintain these numbers especially with these string of games coming up. but it’s impressive.
by comparison. brady only ever led the league in four of those five categories once. he ranked first in ypa, aypa, nypa, and anypa. he failed to rank first in ypc.
peyton manning led the league in all five of those categories once in his career. and never more than 2 of the 5 in any other season.
aaron rodgers. one season in which he led the league in four of the five categories. he ranked first in ypa, aypa, nypa, and anypa.
dan marino. one season. he ranked first in ypa, aypa, nypa, and anypa.
joe montana. one season. he ranked first in ypa, aypa, nypa, and anypa.
steve young. four seasons in which he ranked first in ypa, aypa, nypa, and anypa.
dan fouts. one season. he ranked first in ypa, aypa, nypa, and anypa.
philip rivers. one season. he ranked first in ypa, aypa, nypa, and ypc.
matt ryan last year led the league in all five categories.
guys like brett favre and john elway never did it.
i’m rambling. and probably this post won’t get read. but i guess my point is this is really freaking hard to do. if he can finish the season first in four of the five categories, he will do something that is rarely done. what’s insane is young doing it 4 times!!! everyone else i looked at. never more than once. peyton and matt the only ones to lead in all five categories for one season. i don’t know if i missed anyone. aikman never did it.
i also read that he leads the league in yards per attempt on play action at 12.1.
InvaderRamModeratorrams rankings in football outsiders
offense – 11th
defense – 1st
special teams – 1stfor what it’s worth. i’m not sure i’d consider the rams the best defense in the league… i dunno… i haven’t seen a lot of the other teams.
for what it’s worth.
minnesota
offense -7th
defense – 9th
special teams – 14thnew orleans
offense – 2nd
defense – 5th
special teams – 25thphiladelphia
offense – 5th
defense – 8th
special teams – 6th
InvaderRamModeratorso i went on football outsiders to see how they ranked goff after week 10. they now have him ranked fifth among all starting qbs…
just behind case keenum! well. should be interesting game this week. for what it’s worth keenum also ranks third in espn’s total qbr stat! he’s fourteenth in passer rating.
also. football outsiders has brees ranked third. wentz sixth. so rams will be facing three top 6 qbs in the next four weeks. yikes. not to mention russell wilson and marcus mariota after that.
it’s gonna be a ride for sure.

InvaderRamModeratorand ya know what’s crazy. i remember when luck and rgiii were supposed to be generational talents. now they both might never play another snap again. winston and mariota were consensus number 1 and number 2 picks. they’re both struggling. goff and wentz? experts laughed when the rams and eagles traded up. shoot i questioned the move at the time. and of course there’s lots of football left to be played, but those 2 look the best of the bunch right now.
of course this could all change, but both guys seem to be in the right environment to continue developing.
November 14, 2017 at 7:16 pm in reply to: tweets (including a few gems) + articles etc. on the HOUSTON game #77462
InvaderRamModeratorAnd he’s only in his, what? 17th game? Somethin like that.
and just raw coming in. he’s only 23. turned 23 in october. and came from a system that doesn’t develop pro qbs.
by contrast wentz will be 25 in december and learned in a pro style offense.
he just needs to stay healthy and needs consistency around him.
but yeah. he looks like he’s got a legitimate chance to be very very good.
November 14, 2017 at 6:27 pm in reply to: This stats shows how remarkable Jamon Brown's turnaround has been #77453
InvaderRamModeratorcan the rams afford both brown and havenstein?
at some point whitworth and saffold’s contracts are up, and they’ll most likely be replaced with relatively cheap draft picks. just wondering. those two have been a revelation.

InvaderRamModeratorThere’s holes. Goff isn’t that accurate or consistent yet. But that it’s already this good with so much ceiling left is scary for the rest of the NFC.
that’s what’s so exciting. he hasn’t really just flat out dominated in any game yet. he’s looked really good in spurts. you can see the talent. he just needs seasoning.
his accuracy needs to get better. it should. offseason should be huge for him and the receivers. more than anyone else i think.
InvaderRamModeratorgoff is currently first in ypa with 8.5…
first.
InvaderRamModeratorthe rams can totally compete against the vikings. i don’t think that can be questioned. they can compete against any team in the nfl.
can they beat them? i think they can. i think this team is good in all phases. that’s always tough to beat.
InvaderRamModeratorgoff. 101.5 qb rating on the season so far. he’s not playing lights out. but he’s hanging in there. seems to keep his cool. what a pass to woods. right on the money.
woods. what a signing. i was lukewarm on the signing. i wanted garcon. but shoot. i was wrong. more dynamic than i thought.
yeah. i agree with you. team win. defense hung in there. they did get a little lucky at times. but really turned it around in the second half. as did the offense.
these next four weeks. whoa, man. whoa! how long has it been???
InvaderRamModeratorthrew 2 ints keenum did, but he’s hanging tough. came back to get them in fg range.
InvaderRamModerator3 touchdowns in 1 half for keenum. vikings up 28-17.
InvaderRamModeratorthat’s the game i’m watching. case looks tough as usual.
rams could lose that game. but i still think the eagles game will show me who the best team in the nfc is.
InvaderRamModeratorya know to be fair this was written before the rams traded for watkins….
heeheehee…

InvaderRamModeratorI just checked ticketmaster.
The game is going to sell out, or come very close to it. Both ticket websites I checked show only a few HUNDRED seats for sale.
i see a lot more rams gear around these days.
momentum is building.
Are you in LA?
When I was there last October, the Rams were everywhere.
No sign of them in this August anywhere in the city.
well now i’m in santa barbara county. but my wife and i have family and friends back in los angeles, so we go there a lot. lately i’ve seen more gear everywhere. in los angeles. and even occasionally up here. jerseys. bumper stickers. i went to three games last year. the first game i went to there was rams gear everywhere because it was gameday and the rams had just arrived. but by the end. the niner game in december. there were a lot less. and in fact i was surrounded by niners fans the entire game.
i haven’t gone to any rams games this year. but just casually i will see people in rams gear. driving down to los angeles, i see cars with rams bumper stickers on and such. i think momentum has been slowly building up again especially with the team being away for a month and just pummeling other teams. so if they can come back to the coliseum and lay a beatdown, i think fans will jump on the bandwagon.
i could be imagining things. but i see a difference between just this past august to now in november.

InvaderRamModeratorThis game scares me. It’s the perfect game for a letdown. They are something like 11 point favorites–they’re getting great press. Things are going so well.
Still–they say they are taking them all one game at a time. I hope that’s true.
They should win this one. SHOULD.
i think they will not have a letdown.
they haven’t played a home game in like what? a month? and no i don’t count the arizona game as a home game.
the last time they played at the coliseum was against seattle. it was a big letdown. home crowds have been sparse.
but since then they’ve gained a tremendous amount of momentum. i think they’ll come out wanting to prove something. i think they want to get la on their side. the playoffs are over, and a big win over houston would go well with la fans getting over the world series loss.
my guess is they’ll want to come out and just smear them. bury them under an avalanche of touchdowns. and i think the fans have been watching from afar the past month and there should be a bigger turnout.
i don’t know. i just get the sense that people here are itching to hop on the bandwagon, and the rams really want to come here and prove that they’re for real at home. that combo should be enough for no possibility of a letdown tomorrow.

InvaderRamModeratori will say blythe has been a pleasant surprise, but i’d rather sullivan stay healthy.
InvaderRamModeratorsean still has a long way to go obviously. we have no idea where this journey is going to take us.
but supposing sean coaches here for 20 years. he’d be 51 years old. by contrast belichick was 48 years old when he accepted the head coaching position with the new england patriots.
i hope it all works out and he can stay here for awhile.
also wondering what tidbits he can glean from sonofbum on the defensive side. just being a head coach and knowing wade isn’t gonna be here forever.
InvaderRamModeratorSo glad Woods is a Ram. He sounds focused to me they all do but Woods is as McVay says the right people and he also says something I’ve been saying since Woods came out of the draft he’s faster than you think he is.
and contrast that with britt who was the exact opposite of what you want out of a veteran.
great signing. and he’s most likely headed for a career season. i was kind of lukewarm on the signing when it happened, but boy am i happy i was wrong.
InvaderRamModeratorI say this reaches a critical point after 2018 in the 2019 off-season, but, they probably do something about it in 2018.
keep adding guys and let kromer develop them.
i think brown and havenstein shouldn’t be too hard to replace. maybe they could even keep one of them. it’s whitworth i worry most about replacing. just reading around it sounds like he’s playing about as well as any left tackle in the league.
InvaderRamModeratorI’m no film guy, but I wondered all of last year how much of Goff’s “confusion” was actually just no open receivers much of the time.
yeah. that’s true too. that’s a good point. i mean i can’t say for sure, but i think it’d have to be a factor.
InvaderRamModeratorJ.B. Long@JB_Long
No.1 in red zone opportunities, but only 16th in league in red zone TD%. (Plus, 12 total giveaways.) #LARamsi just think about how impressive this offense already but also how much better they can get. young guys still. give them an offseason or two, and they’ll get those things squared away.

InvaderRamModeratori still think it’s rams or eagles. i don’t know which. i’m still looking at the box scores of eagles games and thinking wow. that’s a tough team.
these next four or five games will be fascinating. vikings, saints, and eagles. meaningful games the rams are playing. it’s crazy.
InvaderRamModeratorthat’s the exciting part. we don’t know if other teams catch up to these guys. or if the rams continue to ascend.
InvaderRamModeratori wanna say this. and i don’t know that it’s been mentioned before in relation to three of the five fastest ball carrier being rams this past weekend.
this was done in pouring rain. i don’t know what conditions the other two ball carriers were running in. but to me. that’s impressive. this wasn’t in some dome. on some turf. it was done on wet grass. well ok. not on grass. it was on field turf. but still. that’s pretty impressive.
InvaderRamModeratorlance dunbar?
different type of rb i know. still. this opens up a spot.
InvaderRamModeratorWhy not keep Mannion as the Rams backup?
i guess the question would be does he want to remain a backup?
goff looks like he’s the starter. for awhile. if mannion is ok with remaining a backup with no chance of being a starter, then yeah. keep him. but he might want to go to a team where he at least has a chance to be a starter.
InvaderRamModeratorMannion is here one more year.
i wonder if the rams during some blowout should try and feature mannion with the intention if trading him for a pick. definitely think they need to draft a replacement for him at some point.
Tavon is a lot cheaper over the last years of his contract, $9 million/yr. and they don’t save a lot to cut him next year. So, there is a chance he stays.
i’m actually wondering depending on how the contracts go with other players if the rams could maybe try to hold onto him. he’s really effective as a decoy although part of me thinks that cooper could do a capable job in that role. wouldn’t be as effective as tavon but maybe effective enough.
InvaderRamModeratori don’t really watch other teams unless they’re playing the rams of course. so it’s hard for me to say how good goff is compared to the rest of the qbs. but he seems to generally be ranked among the top 10 qbs.
football outsiders has him ranked 4th based on dvoa. 5th based on dyar.
espn.com has him ranked 10th based on total qbr.
he’s ranked 9th based on passer rating.
i’m not sure how but pro football focus only has him ranked 21st this year. maybe that doesn’t include the giants game.
those 5 grades average out to just under 10. that seems right. i don’t know.
that pro football focus ranking is weird. they rank goff 21st. todd gurley is ranked 14th. woods is 44rd. watkins 34th. kupp 38th. the last ranking of the rams oline was october 10th, and they ranked them 12th…
and the rams are the highest scoring offense in the league and third in total offense? that’s just really odd. mcvay must be one helluva coach. “we not me” i guess.
