There are 6 million 6 hundred and 6 reasons why the USA has become the Ecocidal Death Machine it has become. Big reasons and medium reasons and small reasons. One of the Big-Reasons is the evolution of corporate-capitalist-propaganda in all its pervasive forms, whether reflected in movies, ‘education,’ books, blogs, institutions, tv-shows, advertisements, whatever.

I discovered one of those examples of propaganda the other day when i watched a show I didnt know much about: Landman. With Billy-Bob Thornton. I watched it, because I liked Billy-Bob Thornton. I dont like him anymore. I dont like Demi Moore anymore either. She’s in it. I dont like anyone who would be in this thing.

If you’ve never heard of it, its a popular series about the Oil Bizness. Set in Texas. Jerry Jones even did a scene in it. The show has speech after speech after speech explaining how their is no alternative to the oil-based economy, and how alternative energies are supported by Russia, and the Oil Industry is what makes America great, and the big Oil Billionaires are very concerned about their workers, and climate change is a hoax, and fracking is actually good, and — get this — the Oil Industry is actually battling the Cartels and terrorists and making America safe for democracy.

I swear, this show is just like watching Fox News. Even the actresses on the show look like Fox News hosts.

The acting is good, the dialogue is snappy, its very slick and entertaining.

We are all doomed. And thats a good thing.

I agree with much of that about the show but would quibble in a few areas.

The billionaires in the show do not come across as caring about their employees. They care about their money and making more.

The oil industry is not fighting the cartels, at least in the first season, it’s all about turning a blind eye so each can do their own business until their is a falling out and even then, a desire to go back to live and let live.

There is a small nod to eventually needing to come up with something else with a giant dose of until then this is the bull we have to ride.

People who like this show, imo, are also likely to like Yellowstone and Tulsa king.

Indiana’s team has a lot of fourth and fifth year seniors. They’re older and more experienced than their opposition and have been all year. I’ll take Indiana and I think they win by two scores.

Well, said wv! I was thinking of doing the same thing as I read Zoey’s post, then I got to yours.

If Lake is what was missing on the defense, the Rams may go all the way this year.

    That game made me unhappy.

Some excuses for the offense because of the offensive line. Defense should have played better.

If they can get healthy, they can still peek

    That ending sucked.

    I’m also sad.

I hope they learn from their collapse in all three areas in the fourth quarter.

Surprised they didn’t bring more pressure on the two point conversion.

If you had told me before the season that the Rams would be three and one after their first four games, I would’ve taken it and been happy.

    So I’m happy 🙂

Two black field goals one of them returned for a touchdown. Ugh

If they stay relatively healthy, they proved they can play with anyone, but what a way to lose

I like it when they win.

They may just be pretty good this year.

A win next week would be pretty incredible. It could happen. 🙂

It’s only one game, but in my opinion, Bennett looked like a good NFL backup. It was his apparent confidence/decisiveness that does it for me. If he looks the same that for two more games then he makes his case to be a number two quarterback in this league. If they keep him on the team this year I think it gives them additional options for next year.

I dunno. I just dont see any top-notch physical tools. His release isnt lightning fast, he’s not particularly quick, his arm talent just looks average…. I dunno. I guess McVay knows what he’s doing. Hard for me to fathom that SB is the best they can find.

I agree with all that, which imo, if he keeps up this better play, would make him a decent number two quarterback. What he displayed last weekend was better than many backups in the league.

Thanks for pointing that out. As I was reading through the draft analysis, I was trying to figure out the reason behind the couple of commentators who stated we needed help at linebacker, when We drafted help at linebacker… 🙂

Everything they did made sense to me. I like that They scored the first round pick from Atlanta for next year.

I also like that they moved around in the draft to get the players they wanted where need meets value for where they had them rated and where they did not want to take risk cause they might not fall further. I like that they seem to be taking Aaron Donald‘s advice to heart and getting players who wants to play. The game.

The only potential positions they did not fill and I think, in my opinion, that would’ve been good to have was a swing offensive tackle and a cornerback, but the off-season also is not over.

It wasn’t an exciting draft for me, it seemed very workman like and precise.

Efficient and, in a way, calculating.

    From Brady Balhorn

Out of 100+ draft-eligible D1 tight ends in my database, Terrance Ferguson was:

    – 1st in YAC per reception (9.0)
    – 5th in receiving yards (591)
    – T-5th 40 yard dash time (4.63, fastest at the combine)

Big time talent, nice pickup for the Rams.

Me: comes from a team with a good culture and was productive with several QBs. I believe he only did 15 reps on the bench and his big issue , I think, is he probably he needs to get stronger

I watched a lot of Oregon ducks games and the write up is spot on imo.

The one thing it did not include is his yards after catch is excellent.

Has the potential to be a solid number one tight end if he can continue to improve a few things.

Not powerful as a run, blocker nor tenacious at it, but if he can improve that he could be used a little bit in the Cooper Kupp role imo

Taken an earlier than most mock drafts, but I think there were only a couple consensus day two tight ends left on the board, it was one of the positions with less depth in this draft. And the consensus also is that players between about pick 16 and 100is not that different from each other, it’s just pick the one that you like.

I’m surprised they did not trade down again, but McVay must really have wanted a pass catching tight end

I’m guessing they’d trade out even if Dart was still there. They really have 15 to 20 players rated about the same and they don’t have any specific need, then they essentially traded a third round pick this year for a first round pick next year. Sounds good to me.

Perhaps the humidity dropped to move around and get the quarterback they want next year? Let’s hope Atlanta goes zero and 17 next year. 🙂
