Eternal RamnationParticipant
of pleasing appearance; handsome.
Thanks wv I feel like I know myself now.
Eternal RamnationParticipantGoff was 26 out of 33 for 465 and 5 tds, Warner and Greene were 27 out of 34 for 465 and 5 tds but Kupp taught me a new word comfortability so there is that. I have a track record of zero decorum and I do not know what seemliness is but I did predict the Rams going to the Superbowl in July 99′.
Eternal RamnationParticipantRest of the league was busy shortly after the game changing their shorts . If the Vikes can’t stop you who can? Something about the short week messes with the Defense and the Offense goes nuts . What a fun night ! And the D notched 4 sacks including Donalds first two and JFM with the strip sack to ice the game wow. Goff is playing better than any QB out there right now I watched Mahones and got the feeling this guy has been lucky so far. Goff is a surgeon.
September 27, 2018 at 2:22 am in reply to: reporters set up Vikes game (articles, vids, tweets) & what Vikes fans R saying #91524Eternal RamnationParticipantEternal RamnationParticipantThe Vikes OL is terrible and Cousins is getting the same treatment Bradford got
Eternal RamnationParticipantAbout what I expected minus the injuries. Last year of course we had the vikes until we lost our starting corners.Goff keeps proving me correct. The DL is seriously underwhelming at this point sure they get close and force errant throws but these guys are supposed to dominate and Donald and Suh are not. The Chargers are in the bottom half of OL ratings and the big three are just not getting it done to an acceptable level considering the personnel and it’s price tag . Third game together , full week of prep up against rookies and backups noway it should’ve been that close. I love Cooks but I think Woods is probably our best pure wr.Cooks had some great blocks which surprised me pleasantly and Kupp is like Popeye Amendola after he eats his spinach , so smart and no quit , he squeezes ever last drop of effort out on every play. The Ol play was impressive and of course Gurley as he has so many times just took control of the game late.
Eternal RamnationParticipantMy reaction is pure joy. I’m all in sold on Goff. I think Donald said it best , paraphrasing of course he said they hadn’t really got going yet and when they do they’re going to be scary. That secondary already is! Talib, Peters, JJIII, Sam Shields, Christian and Robey-Coleman just freaking spectacular today.Cooks is so explosive, I really do like him in this offense way more than Watkins. He’s ballin on every play always where he’s supposed to be and never quits on routes. Woods and Kupp have different skill sets but they’re all at a higher level right now. They tried to take Gurley out of it and make Goff beat them and he went full shred on their asses.
Eternal RamnationParticipantI have to say that Goff’s blown pass to Woods was mystifying. The play before that one, he threw about as pretty a pass as a QB can. A pass that had exactly the right trajectory to hit his receiver when he was very well covered.
The next play, Woods was completely uncovered in the end zone, and Goff botched it.
He talked about it in his post game, said he apologized to Woods.

S John Johnson
Johnson’s stat line looks good with nine tackles, an interception and a pass defensed, but it was hardly representative of his play. The second-year safety really struggled on Monday night, missing tackles, getting beat by Jared Cook repeatedly and looking shaky in coverage.
Johnson was the primary defender on Cook for most of the night, and while he didn’t surrender all nine catches for 180 yards by the tight end, he was on the wrong end of many of those plays. He redeemed himself a bit by picking off Carr in the end zone, but there was more bad than good in this one.
QB Jared Goff
Like Johnson, Goff’s stat line doesn’t look terrible: 18 of 33 for 233 yards and two touchdown passes with a rating of 97.2. Not bad, right? Well, that stat line could’ve been much better, and at the same time, much worse.
He overthrew Robert Woods on a couple of occasions, while also missing Kupp in the end zone on an inaccurate throw. The pass was nearly intercepted, but it could’ve easily been a touchdown.
Also in the red zone, Goff almost handed Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie after it was tipped in the air by the former Giants defensive back, falling harmlessly to the turf. His fumble was almost a disaster after he didn’t feel the pressure from Bruce Irvin, but Rob Havenstein bailed him out by falling on the ball.
Goff simply wasn’t very accurate on passes 15 yards beyond the line of scrimmage, missing open receivers several times.
CB Troy Hill
Hill was a non-factor on defense, but he had an impact on special teams. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the good kind of impact. He was flagged twice on consecutive punts for holding the Raiders’ gunner, leading to 10-yard setbacks for the offense. Special teams penalties are never good and can really hurt a backup like Hill’s value.
Depth players
The Rams stuck to 11 personnel for just about the entire game, only putting Johnny Mundt and Gerald Everett on the field a couple of times. Josh Reynolds was spotted only once or twice, while Pharoh Cooper didn’t appear to get any chances at wide receiver. McVay leaned on his top playmakers, as indicated by the box score.
Tyler Higbee wasn’t targeted once, while only five players caught passes and carried the ball all night long.

This makes me wonder if the author watched the game? Goff was off in the 1st half as one would expect after not taking a single snap in preseason, both PIs Cooks drew were on accurate passes and also a few drops that looked like no preseason rust to me. I’m not sure how 6’200lbs JJIII is supposed to cover 6’5″ 254lbs that runs 4.5 but maybe bend don’t break shrink the field and shut him out of the red zone would work.Pretty obvious to me anyway that the starters that again didn’t play a snap in preseason needed the reps since the depth players were played extensively in preseason.
Eternal RamnationParticipantThere’s a trade off with Cooks , he’s a non-factor blocking for anyone but he is way more productive than Sammy was. 80 to 90 yds in PI penalties and that no fluke he did the same last year . The game was about what I expected , being in Oakland late on Monday night no tape on Gruden to study and a huge interior OL plus Lynch. Wade and McVay both made some great adjustments. Goff is much better than he gets credit for, he stays cool and doesn’t get down on himself. Those deep throws to Woods and Cooks were mighty close to being tds . Does anyone think they won’t sync up and soon ? Stafford Jimmy G Bradford and Carr all looked pretty bad in comparison. It reminded me of last years WA game , I see a lot of positive growth. Ebukam and Littleton were flying around all over the place.
Eternal RamnationParticipantRams in 1st. place already. I thought Jimmy G looked like crap but thats easy to do against the Vikes D. Still it was pretty awful 3 ints one of them being a pick six. The one shot of Bradford and a Card fan kid in the stands looking on in disbelief after a horrible int yikes!
Tavon had one rush for one yard and 2 punt returns for 15 yards total, so much for lining him
up all over the place like I heard early onEternal RamnationParticipantVikes vs 9ers + cycling between AZ vs WA Sea at Den and KC at LA for the late games basically scouting the nfc West and curious to see what Sammy Watkins does for 16 million. Oh yeah probably check in on Dal at Car to see how Tavon is doing.
September 7, 2018 at 3:04 am in reply to: chat room, 10:15 et/9:15 pt…Monday game, what's your prediction? #90474Eternal RamnationParticipantI only want them touching the field with their feet one foot at a time for very small amounts of time milliseconds. with 2 yards between each touch. Ebukam will not be stopped. I wanna see Cooks and Goff hook up on a deep td or 3 just like Hadl to Jackson against Dallas !
Eternal RamnationParticipantThe Oline’s ability to keep Goff healthy.Goff made clutch throws to Kupp and Watkins so I don’t put that on him he can’t catch the ball for them.

“Two first rounders is too much to pay for Mack”Ok… would you trade the last two first rounders your team picked for him?
Rams last 3 1st round picks…… Goff, Gurley and Donald. I would not in a house, I would not with a mouse.
August 31, 2018 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Rams, Aaron Donald Agree to Terms on Six-Year Extension #90166Eternal RamnationParticipantI’m so giddy I feel like Coach McVay.
Eternal RamnationParticipantI’ve watched the TD run so many times and to me anyway it looks like a street comp run at the X Games. The spinning , crazy change of direction and incredibly stable balance you can tell he’s a skater.
Eternal RamnationParticipantThe starting D is scary without 99.I think Kelly is better than Brown and Davis can’t stay on the field.I’ve seen enough of Hemingway, terrible hands and a fs. He did make a nice block to spring rb Holley against the 3s but there are too many really good players fighting for a spot to waste one on him. I think he’s safe on the practice squad.2-1 and they’ve yet to play the starters save Brown .
August 25, 2018 at 1:33 pm in reply to: informal poll: what do you think of the "no starters" preseason? #89818Eternal RamnationParticipantI don’t know how I feel about it. If it works and they’re ready when they play the Raiders I’m okay with it.
Eternal RamnationParticipantKhaDarel Hodge’s First Impression
Clarence Dennis
STAFF WRITEROn Sept. 4 at 1:00 p.m. PDT, all 32 NFL teams must have their rosters reduced to 53 players.
The September 4 date will send approximately 37 Rams packing. A few will be invited to the practice squad, others will move on to other opportunities, some may even seek a complete career change altogether.
A job in the NFL is a hard job to land. According to the NCAA, there are over 70,000 NCAA football participants in 2018, many of whom dream of a career in the NFL — and have since Pop Warner. For some, playing professional football is bound to happen, for others it’s about opportunity and a bit of luck. Walk-ons pay tuition, superstars win the Heisman, the good, but not that good pursue a different career, and a fortunate 253 are drafted to the NFL.
The NCAA’s website says 1.6-percent of college football players will go on to play “major professional sports.”
Rams’ receiver KhaDarel Hodge is doing everything in his power to join that one percent.
In the first two preseason games, Hodge has recorded four receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown — good, considering the Rams’ lack of offense early in the preseason, but not exactly numbers to write his hometown of D’Lo, Mississippi about.
Hodge’s impression on head coach Sean McVay and the powers that be in L.A., has come in the form of big-time plays. Three of Hodge’s four receptions in the preseason have been highlight-reel material.
In preseason Week 1 against the Ravens, Hodge scored the Rams’ only touchdown of the game by making an athletic, lunging grab on a low ball, with Ravens’ corner Stanley Jean-Baptiste draped over him in the end zone.
On Saturday against the Raiders, Hodge made his mark with a pair of plays. The first came in the second quarter with an outstanding 47-yard reception in-front of the Rams’ bench. Nearly back-peddling, Hodge leapt backwards, extended to catch the ball delivered by quarterback Sean Mannion, and pulled it to his chest with Raiders’ corner Nick Nelson all over him.
“It was basically a go-route. I know I had the win,” Hodge said confidently. “So, I just dug out and I’d seen the ball in the air – and at that point it’s just having the fundamentals. I didn’t get ahead of myself and made a big play.”
Mannion expressed similar confidence in Hodge when talking about the play.
“He knows where to be on every play. That was a situation where we got the right look to take a shot. I just tried to put some air under it, give him a chance and he went up and made a great play,” Mannion said.
So far, it seems as that if anyone gives Hodge a chance, he will make the most of it.
In the same game, Hodge made another impressive grab early in the third quarter on a high pass by quarterback Brandon Allen. Hodge pulled the ball down from over a Raider defender and toed the sideline en route to a Rams’ field goal.
Hodge is an undrafted free agent out of Prairie View A&M in Prairie View, Texas. Hodge’s time at Prairie View A&M was his third and final college football stop, after starting his career at Alcorn State in 2013, and then spending time at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi.
To add to the list of largely unknown stops of Hodge’s football career, the 5-foot-11 rookie receiver is originally from D’Lo, Mississippi — a dot in south-central Mississippi that just over 400 people call home. In fact, over 200 of Hodge’s hometown populations could have fit in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday to watch him haul in passes over Raider defenders.
While many of Hodge’s friends and family were likely watching, impressing coach McVay and his staff might be of greater importance to Hodge. A first impression in the preseason is critical for an undrafted and unproven player like Hodge, who is low on L.A.’s receiver depth chart.
“For him to continue to take these steps in the right directions and then being able to demonstrate that play-making ability has been something that you definitely can’t help but notice and it’s been good to see,” McVay said.
The training for a job in the NFL is rigorous. Players must make sure each rep in minicamp, OTAs, and training camp is meaningful. Studying systems and learning extensive playbooks is essential to becoming a pro. The job training wraps up with the preseason — an opportunity to make an impression with pads on, play tackle football in a stadium with with screaming fans, and make plays against a team other than your own.
After doing just that for the second consecutive week on Saturday — just over two weeks until the Sept. 4 roster deadline, Hodge stood in the Coliseum locker room in Los Angeles — a city over 1,800 miles from D’Lo, and with 3.9 million more people than D’Lo — addressing reporters with humble smile.
“I’ve been in these situations before where I’ve had to come from the bottom and stuff. So, this is nothing new to me.”

Eternal RamnationParticipantEternal RamnationParticipantMannion looked much better, Hodge was impressive, the D was playing like they had a bunch of free agent all-pros come in camp and share their knowledge. JFM stands out. At least this game was apples to apples, definitely more fun than last week.
Eternal RamnationParticipantThey’re eating plant based diets, a football is made from cow hide so are lots of cleats .
Eternal RamnationParticipantBummer but at least the Rams are deep at CB . Another DT though ?
Eternal RamnationParticipantI watched the highlights all both of them. I don’t know if I will watch the whole thing . With it being the Ravens 2nd game and the Rams playing lots of guys I never heard of against the Ravens starters in their first game I don’t feel so bad as when I saw the score on my phone.I like Kelly. Did Davis fumble ? He looked pretty good in the little bit I saw
Eternal RamnationParticipantI didn’t get to watch them much, we didn’t have a TV but listen to them on the radio. I’d say my perception was at 10 years old that the Fearsome Foursome died when Jones left.
Eternal RamnationParticipantI’d like to see the D dominate so completely that it gets Donald into camp 52 -0 aught to do it.
Eternal RamnationParticipantTwo more outstanding reports! After the first week I went looking for fan reports from other teams first the NFC West then the Eagles and Vikings . You know what I couldn’t find one anywhere! I did find a couple of videos on Youtube . The one that I remember was of the 9ers and they were very leisurely at that particular practice . I have no idea why it is only Rams fans do it but it’s very cool. When you read the reporters reports there isn’t much difference.
Eternal RamnationParticipantWow! that video really helps understanding the reports, the reports are outstanding. Ram’s fans give the best reports !
Eternal RamnationParticipantI agree it was a great movie. I watched it at the theater and enjoyed it then watched it again at home and I still enjoyed it.
