Should be easy to identify whether his hands were up or not from the bullets entry location. If the entry wounds are on the under side of his arm
    his hands were up

Holt was talking last year about how Quick should be on the JUGS machine every day, nice to see the dedication also nice to see Casey
who is IMO a very good reporter at camp ,her interviews are always interesting she asks good questions and gets good info with them.

If Quick and Britt maintain their current level of play we’re solid.Bailey comes back in Oct and we’ll be rolling. Kendricks was doubled on the TD catch, maybe not by design but in effect. Britt was also in heavy traffic for his catch. With Britt I don’t think 50/50 is accurate more like 95/5 for contested throws. The Offense doesn’t worry me near as much as the D at this point. No PI penalties great but very little pass defense as a whole and the run D is worse

Gilbert to Franklin deep ball to beat Roberson
Oh yeah! I like hearing that. Franklin makes plays

Donald is already incredibly strong. He’s a rotational interior pass rusher from what Fisher said. The Pack’s OL focused on him. Running no huddle in the preseason seems like game planning to me.I can see how they would want to practice but they knew the Rams wouldn’t blitz,I even heard it was agreed on before hand.I think there is method to this madness although I was still too disgusted to see it yesterday.

From what I’ve read Fisher has really been emphasizing they were very basic on D. I hope they are hiding the real Rams D until the regular season and I hope it’s a successful strategy but I can’t remember that ever happening?

i agree. i read nothing but positive things about this guy. and he had an impressive catch against new orleans. don’t think they should let this guy go.

I read an interview where Franklin explained how he set the CB up, got him to flip his hips and then came back to the ball. For a small school Junior Rookie that is very impressive. I think his experience playing CB in HS helps his game, knowing how to get open and protect the throw with body position.

Receivers Austin Franklin and Stedman Bailey had strong outings in the one-on-one passing drills. Franklin caught back-to-back touchdowns against Rodney McLeod with some sharp route running. Bailey continues to consistently get open and make plays when the opportunity arises.

I hope Franklin gets the spot a least until Bailey gets back from suspension, the guy is a player.

I mean, yeah. That’s what I said. Starters were sitting, new guys in, etc.

But there is a unit identity thing that can transcend individual players. A character of the whole.

And the thing is that the whole look of the way the unit played resembled that of recent years. Disappointingly so.

I was really hoping to see the look of a unit being re-defined by a transformative DC. I didn’t see that. I was disappointed.

You know, young kids can make mistakes. But, Lord, I’d like to see clear evidence of both talent and effective deployment. How about stuffs on HALF the runs? Just show you can choke off the running game HALF the time. These guys weren’t even close.

As I said. There’s time yet. But, what I saw from Williams’ bunch last night did NOT scream, “We are an emerging elite defense!” There’s some distance to go to get there. And the clock is ticking on the season …

I hear you RFL . I didn’t see what I wanted to see either but let’s take the 99 Tampa Bucs D and sit Sapp ,McFarland,Brooks,Lynch,Barber and Abrams in a preseason game and see how they do. I did see some guys making plays and guys learning from their mistakes. There was a rough patch there that looked like a bunch of kids that didn’t know who they were or what they were doing because that is pretty much what it was. Those guys , many of them are competing against each other for roster spots so the team concept is going to suffer until the cuts are made Also when Bradford,Long,Wells and Saffold play and crank up the running game I doubt this D is on the field as much as they were in the first preseason game.

I honestly think the really BAD series of plays had as much to do with them playing Gaines, McGee, Armstrong, Dunbar at MLB, Donald, and Carrington as anything else.

I don’t think Langford saw the field.

    If that’s right, that’s 6 starters out.

That unit didn’t even look confident at first. They had a half-step behind, anxious to catch up feel to them.

    .

Langford was held out over half of the starting D was held out.My concern would be if JL’s injury is more severe than we’ve been told.JL is a very important part of this D just from a leadership standpoint, he’s the brains of the organization.

    Bailey. Yeah, nice.

From what I’ve seen the defense has some work to do, especially in the running game, eh? Clearly they will be putting a ton of pressure on QB’s. The response will be quick passes.

EJ Gaines looked no different than at Mizzou. Physical, great tackler. Occasional mistakes and up and down in coverage. I think he’ll be a decent pro player.

I thought Gaines did well ,when he made a mistake he would come back the next play having learned from it.The run D will be greatly improved when the starters actually play. We’ll definitely see the short passing game but the way Donald was penetrating last night, put Brockers or Langford next to him and JL,Jenks,Tru and Joyner behind him and the short game is no walk in the park.

Austin Franklin’s TD was an impressive bit of route running,he made his rep count one target one TD.

I think that was the dark, hysterical, gossipy version.

You know the type. Like I say “Breakfast at Joe’s Diner wasn’t as good today for some reason.” And the guy I am talking to then writes a letter to the editor about how “the collapse of Joe’s diner leaves a gaping hole in the town’s restaurant industry, and forces us to ask, who or what CAN we trust?”

    Like this.

Middle linebacker James Laurinaitis has evolved into a savvy vet, but there’s little evidence that he can carry a unit Ray Lewis-style. It’s disconcerting that, even with a domineering front four, the Rams last season were gouged repeatedly on the ground, especially by zone rushing attacks.

Not that he watched any games and diagnosed JL as an issue. He just jumps to bad inferences from misread stats. Fact is, after the first few games, the Rams run D improved to the point where it was game by game one of the best in the league. Someone who knew the team would know that.

I agree, this guy knows nothing about the Rams or 9ers and hawks who have experienced heavy losses particularly on defense while the Rams have gained

As I remember Snead wasn’t worried about Quick he knew it would take time and used Vincent Jackson as a comparison. When I heard about the Britt signing I was very negative. He won me over during OTAs I watched some highlights and read some reports from people I trust and I just saw it happening in my head the Britt/Quick combination. Yeah I know it’s not scientific but every once in a while I see stuff that way so I just bought in to it. It’s happening write it down.

Oh yeah! He looked unstoppable at times and what he was able to do last year as a rookie with a rookie qb and all the veteran wr’s banged up was impressive as well. When Watkins gets going(after last night I’m convinced that will take longer than most thought it would) the Bills will have a good passing attack.

Yeah somehow that didn’t get out there…that Wells was just ill. Only Thomas said anything (that I recall).

It sure would be nice if he could hold up this year. He has some skills beyond just being the smart guy who makes the line calls. Jackson, when he was here, said that Wells was very quick getting to the 2nd level–SJ even said it was something he had to adjust to.

    .

I wonder if Richardson’s troubles correlate with Wells absence ? Anyway good news it’s not an injury and if he holds up and Long makes it back Joseph complete again Katie bar the door!

Mac, I was suffering with frequent headaches and I read something about “oil pulling” (swishing oil, coconut oil being the best , in your mouth for about 20mins ) Believe it or not it helped. Your situation is much more severe but might be worth a try.

Maybe Givens feels he’s been pushed out of the starting line up with the Rams going run oriented . Just a thought but most the reports I’ve read have him working with the 2’s and 3’s not getting a lot of 1st team reps.

I wish one of these guys would mention the huge roster losses to every other team in the NFC West. Bradford has shown more bad than good in his career ? Has he ever even seen Sam play? I remember one game where Bradford looked bad (Thurs. against the 9ers) But more bad than good ? Was the ROY a pity prize?

ER: if our OL fulfills it’s promise with Quick and Britt’s physical blocking on the outside these guys could well be unstoppable.

I do get the sense this offense could be very tough. I just don’t know yet how efficient it will be (meaning will they execute at a consistently good level).

I agree execution is a question but the smash mouth physical style can cover some mistakes . Also 3rd year in Shottie’s system so execution should be better. The safeties get to cheatin up too much worried about getting trucked by Stacy and Bradford snatches the ball out of Stacy’s belly and hucks it to
Britt, scary for them. Mason will apply stress as well.

On the secondary I have confidence they can and will with GW give our ferocious DL that extra second they need, they will wreak havoc! just about every defensive draft pick known for their ability to blitz. My questions are will Long get back to pro bowl level after surgery . Will the OL be elite? When you watch some of that old footage Bradford is a great play action QB. Our OL fulfills it’s promise with Quick and Britt’s physical blocking on the outside these guys could well
    be unstoppable.
