ParticipantI dunno, what could they do about it? Except tell him to get in better shape.
Bench him and start Bennie for one if was as blatant as this un-named source claims it it. I guess that’s the problem with having the youngest team year after year. Too many players needing development an so few actually receiving it.

ParticipantI agree ZN a combination of many things . Gurley doesn’t get a pass but if coaching knew about it and did nothing they share responsibility. In 2015 the big games he had came in the second half from what I remember so that indicates to me conditioning was a factor unless we were losing by 20 points and running the ball wasn’t an option.

ParticipantWhile I can believe Gurley contributed they did start to stop him in 2015 and that same offense was shit. If you go back and watch the early games in 2016 it’s striking how bad the OL was Gurley’s first contact averaged 3rds deep behind the LOS . Also CK would often option out of runs right when it seemed like Gurley was getting going. Imo when you have defenders penetrating often unblocked 3yds. deep in the backfield the back is irrelevant . What good is vision if all you see are unblocked defenders in your backfield ? Also lining up 10yds. deep like ED. isn’t going to work if your not sending 3 OL to the probowl.

ParticipantI expect a dramatic improvement from the offense, just having competent coaching on that side of the ball will have a huge impact through game planing and the ability to adjust to defenses
and opponents not knowing our own playbook better than GRob. The defense will depend on if Quinn can rebound to a higher level or if the decline continues. I’m thinking 8-8 but I do believe there is a losing culture that must be cut out which can always bring complications.Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantAny way you go–they would have hired an Irishman.
McVay and McDaniels are both of Scottish origin and Shanahan means Irish baby boy. I’m not worried about his age, sure he’ll have growing pains but his body of work is impressive. And I’m prepared for any ensuing board war with Claymore and a light axe.

ParticipantI like the hire. Young brilliant offensive mind who has done it without a Manning or Brady. Steady quality and experience at DC.

ParticipantAmerican intel has already made clear that among many other things the russians did, yes they hacked the dems (and the republicans too they just didn’t release that info).
They did do the hacking. That’s not all they did.
And this topic has nothing to do with who won the election. It has to do with whether it’s true there was russian involvement in the election in various ways.
And. Yes, there was.
ON TOP OF IT, this is not about dems whining. It goes way beyond that. Anyone who tries to construe it as JUST dems whining is just not engaging with the entire issue and all the info we have.
I see this discussion as Jane Democracy’s corpse is found and this discussion is focused on the small cuts and abrasions on her back. Are they from glass beer bottle glass? whiskey bottle glass ,what store was the glass bought at? Meanwhile there’s a massive hole where her heat used to be , a large and very bloody butcher knife with noticeably stumpy fingerprints on it lays at her side and a trail of bloody footprints leading to a limo headed for an inauguration.

ParticipantI cannot understand why anyone even cares what countries hacked the info that Clinton hacked and stole the primary. Palast was all over Trump’s interstate (30 of them) crosscheck scam that won him the election and CNN.clinton.corp. said nothing instead pushing this bullshit that the Russians did it.

Participant1.This season is over and we don’t have to watch the ugliness anymore
2. A fresh set of eyes and minds could yield a much better team in a word, hope.
3.Easier schedule next season.
4. Goff survived rookie seasonEternal Ramnation
ParticipantHe wasn’t handed anything he earned the job with phenomenal performance. Management knew he would be the #1 HC candidate and locked him up early. You can judge him on hypothetical hind sight, what he should have done but if you ignore what he actually did do it’s fiction. You can judge him a failure because he didn’t win a Super Bowl or 5 in a row but that is and always will be ridiculous to me. Especially when he coached the Rams last winning season 13 long years of losing ago.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantMore than a few great offensive coordinators were failures as head coach. Turner, Martz, Linehan, McDaniels etc…
Martz has the highest win percentage of any Rams coach. Ridiculous to put him in a list with Linehan and McDaniels fucking ridiculous.

ParticipantNowhere to go but up , that had to be the bottom. I didn’t see a team but a bunch of confused individuals.

ParticipantI think the melt down and the many problems leading to it had more to do with doing Hard Knocks than anything else . I think the move is overblown. Firstly it’s not like Fisher had to do the logistics and second moving in 2016 is so much easier than it was in the 90’s or 80’s. I moved my wife 12000 miles to a new freaking country while working 12hrs. a day and 8 on Saturday, while raising a teenager. I know it’s stressful and don’t deny it had an effect but the problems I saw this year have been the same year after year and I don’t see it happening because of the move. To me that’s an argument of convenience. What I saw, a fundamental breakdown of coaching not distractions from a move. I believe doing Hard Knocks exposed Fishers
coaching weaknesses to every team the Rams played this year and that is a very large advantage.Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI guess I don’t care who it is but they must win …a lot!
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantThanks to Fisher everybody wants to play the Rams.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantYes–I don’t get how the heck they coach tackling but it must be to just dive at the opponent’s knees. Terrible.
Yup Jordan had the angle on that big TE but decided to try and hit him down with his back, bring back Roberson at least he could cover. This bunch needs a brain transplant.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantAbout what I expected. Thought the OL sucked bad dropped passes stupid penalties and that ref sucked as well. Horrible tackling . This team is comfortable losing and it’s getting worse.

ParticipantDid anybody notice the thousand of vets showing up in Standing Rock right before they decide to shut down the pipeline ? Trump who was the guy saying no one was a stronger supporter of veterans. They shut it down because when they lose the military they lose their power and the vets taking a stand was the first step.
December 5, 2016 at 4:59 am in reply to: Bonsignore: Despite extension Rams/Fisher to divorce & other extension articles #60302Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantYou know, regardless how you feel about Fisher or the extension, this is the worst kind of speculative editorializing masquerading as journalism.
Stuff like this:
The fan base is angry, and with PSL payments coming at some point, there’s no sense in upsetting the paying customers by holding onto a coach they’ve lost all confidence in.
Every word of this quote is factual. There is speculation in the article but the fan base is pissed and the reason for their anger is they have lost all confidence in Fisher. I’m not saying every single Rams fan has but the overwhelming majority has . Management assuming Fisher can’t win would be speculation? After 7 consecutive losing seasons assuming he will suddenly start winning in 2017 would be ludicrous .The trend is definitely pointed down. Quinn has played less than Chris Long has this year. No draft picks in sight a team full of lineman that can’t block a rb that can’t run and receivers that can’t catch. The D is in free fall and call me crazy but I am going to go ahead and assume they lose in 2017 too
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantThe Rams won a Super Bowl with a back up QB as did the Patriots . Don’t give me reasons my argument isn’t valid don’t argue against my argument state your case why you believe he should get more time and conform to the extremely narrow tolerances you set for the other side.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantNot true Raiders won while in LA. St.Louis never won a super bowl without LA Rams on on the roster and The Cards never won one before that
Eternal Ramnation
Participant“The players don’t feel comfortable” I’d say when you’re losing like they are you shouldn’t be comfortable and they are especially Fisher. The language ED described fits , I can hear Fisher saying that and Fisher admitted to a conversation. Just sounds like Fisher trying to “coach” him and ED not having it. Now Fisher’s claiming he doesn’t know where it’s coming from, that is some weak shit right there. If you’re gonna make that move you have to own it.
November 27, 2016 at 9:16 pm in reply to: Goff Goes Off! Rookie Throws 3 TDs in First Half | Rams vs. Saints | NFL – Video #59669Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI agree with ZN . I think they need to develop better hot reads and when they do the blitzing will go way down because he get’s rid of the ball fast
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantI watched Goff’s press conference and it gives me hope, he wants to win and let everyone know about it. I think the last 3 times we played the Saints we crushed them with some pretty bad teams , I not so surprised they were due.The D was dismal . The squabble between Williams and Fisher might be cracks might be nothing but definitely not something you want to see happening to your team at 4 – 7 especially not when it comes at the hand of another 4-6 team.
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantOkay. Though that particular piece sounds like a lot of speculation. What’s clear to me is that they had to react to both losing Peterson and much of the starting OL. That’s really the context of this discussion. Saying that, to me, was a clearer thing than just “Bradford dinked and dunked.” The situation is, their OL is a wreck. Any differences between Turner (to whom I have no loyalty) and Zimmer (to whom I have no loyalty) stems from that, it seems to me.
Yes it is speculation I only included it because it predates any of those injuries. We are in agreement on the dink and dunk adjustment. If I’m in Turner’s shoes I would leave as well. To me it looks like they would blame him for the offense and push him out at the end of the season so why stay? Some of that might be my personal feelings toward Zimmer, I just don’t like him for some unknown non football related reason .
Eternal Ramnation
ParticipantActually the story started a lot earlier locally, this wasn’t nearly as sudden or unexpected as the national press has reported. Norv is a classy guy , Zimmer has been a whiny finger pointer in the past. Shurmur pushed to bring in Bradford and because of his familiarity with Bradford called the plays the first two games which was before the OL lost some players, they were thin but now they’re playing people off the street. Here’s an article from January.
Pat Shurmur hire reflects Vikings’ changing dynamics on offense
Jan 24, 2016
Ben Goessling
ESPN Staff WriterMINNEAPOLIS — After the Minnesota Vikings hired Pat Shurmur — a former head coach who has five years of experience as an offensive coordinator — on Saturday night, locking him up before he could talk to the Los Angeles Rams about a possible job as a passing coordinator, coach Mike Zimmer had compiled an offensive staff with three former NFL head coaches and coordinators on it.
And while a league source said Shurmur’s job title has yet to be finalized, it’s probably safe to assume this: Shurmur wasn’t going to end his job search after one stop had Zimmer not pitched him on a plan big enough to get him to put down roots in Minnesota.

ParticipantThe vikes wanted Turner to stay on but Shurmur to call plays. Norv said nope see ya.If you watched Thurs. you saw the same dink and dunk play calling that drove some of us nuts when Shurmur was here. Bradford started 16 games that season and has not since.
