Yeah, I know. Captain Obvious has posted.
Ok, you read the title.
Another year, another season without a decent QB. How the fudge do we acquire one of these mythical creatures?
I’ve seen them on other teams. I’ve watched them on television. I know they exist! They’re not unicorns!!!
We have a D, we have some talent, we have a couple of playmakers and a decent running game. All of that means jack squat without a QB. We will always be a 500 team (or less) without one.
We don’t need a pro bowler. Hell, we don’t even need a “good” QB, just above average would suffice to get us 10 wins.
So how do we get one? Steal him? Mortgage the farm for one? Perhaps we should use our first 4 picks of the draft on’em and hope we get lucky???
Looking to next season, all I see is this season. It’s like “Ground Hog Day” in the form of a football team. Beat a few good teams, give away some games, keep losing on the road, show lots of potential, but not enough execution to get over the .500 hump.
We need a decent QB.
Help me…
December 26, 2015 at 3:53 pm #36075— X —ParticipantWell, we have the unknown in Mannion — that’s one.
We have the journeyman in Keenum — that’s two.
We should never ever ever use Foles again — that’s two.So for the third we have to either (a) draft one high and hedge our Mannion bet, or (b) sign one to a ton of money and compromise the overall strength of the team. You can probably part ways with Chris Long and his contract, or James Laurinaitis and his, to make room for a free agent guy. Like Stafford if he were to actually become available.
You have to be odd, to be number one.

So, if Foles was a FA, you would not sign him? Why didn’t you just say that. 😉
December 26, 2015 at 6:23 pm #36078wvParticipantSince this regime Hates quarterbacks so much,
I suggest we just let Gurley be the QB,
and let Tavon run around behind him,
and we just go with the Wild-Cat or
Wild-Unicorn or whatever its called nowadays.I mean, why not? I bet Gurley can even throw
better than TeBow.And that way we take advantage of the fact
that GRob is going to Whiff three or four
times a game. Gurley can just blow
by the defenders that Wiz past GRob.
Ya know. Turn a negative into a Positive.I would also not oppose having an
actual Unicorn as QB,
as long as it was a running Unicorn
and not one of those stationary
pocket Unicorns.w

If this is going to be a Uni-Corn thread
then I want to know why Unicorns dont
have an actual corn-cob on their heads.
I mean, they are not called Uni-horns,
they are called Uni-corns.So, I’d like an answer to that.

Please not Stafford. I hope Keenum or Mannion can be the QB.

You forgot Hekker. He could be our Danny White!
December 27, 2015 at 9:03 am #36111wvParticipantWell they have that extra 2nd rounder from Philly,
so maybe they package it with their no.1 and
move up a little to get a QB. I dunno.I would have liked to have seen more of Mannion
‘before’ the draft.w

vAt this point, the Rams should be willing to “mortgage the farm” to get a QB.
It doesn’t do any good to have a good team if they don’t have a decent QB.
I say do whatever it takes.
Draft every QB available. Have a cage death match. Whatever.

Well, lots of knowns and unknowns.
Do they think Foles can be Rebuilt?
Can they afford to cut him?
Can afford to keep him if he takes up a roster spot another QB
could have?
Is Mannion an Option? When will they know?
Can Keenum ever be a no.1 QB ?
Are any of the QBs in the draft-class worth
moving up for?
which vet free agents could help?w
vDecember 27, 2015 at 9:59 am #36114InvaderRamModeratorunfortunately this isn’t the best year to be drafting a qb.
December 27, 2015 at 10:14 am #36115AgamemnonParticipantThere is no Luck in this draft, or even Winston or Mariota, but there are guys that could become good starters. imo
Nobody in this draft is worth trading up for, at QB or anywhere else. imo
I am not a fan of trading up anyway.
But, there are a lot of good players, at most positions, in this draft, up until the end of the 4th round. imo
I will do what I always do, let the draft/dice decide how I play the game.

At this point, he’s worth a shot. Everyone is worth a shot.
I want to see at least 10 QBs in camp next summer. I just made up that number. But whatever.
December 27, 2015 at 10:47 am #36122WinnbradParticipantunfortunately this isn’t the best year to be drafting a qb.
Apparently, every year is a bad year for the Rams to draft a QB.
So let’s not break the streak this year. Draft at least 4 of them. We’ve proven we can’t draft quality, so let’s go for quantity.
December 27, 2015 at 1:29 pm #36127PA RamParticipantI’m glad to see Keenum performing well but I do wish the Rams could have used the time to get a better evaluation of Mannion. I think it’s important to know what they have there. Still, I’m not sure what happens or where they go in the off-season. Can they just let Foles and his contract go? Are they stuck with him? A lot will depend on that–and HOW Case does the last two games.
If he melts down than all bets are off.
If he plays well he can be the starter next year with Mannion as back-up and another young guy perhaps behind him.

Well, that would be a sad state of affairs if they
open up the season with Case Keenum at QB,
in my view. And yet, it might be the best
available option, to Snisher.Ah well.

vDecember 27, 2015 at 2:38 pm #36129AgamemnonParticipantDecember 28, 2015 at 9:55 am #36196JackPMillerParticipantThe problem we have, is it is not a strong QB class. Paxson Lynch and Jared Goff will be gone before we pick. The rest of the QBs, like Connor Cook, have flaws. With Cook, I saw issues with decision making. He’ll be OK, but in a backup role. I like the late round, 6th to 7th round guys better than the guys after Lynch and Goff. Kevin Hogan of Stanford, Trevone Boykin of TCU, Jeff Driskel of Louisiana Tech, and Marquise Williams of UNC come to mind, over Conner Cook, Cardale Jones, Dak Prescott, and Christian Hackenberg.
December 28, 2015 at 6:27 pm #36225HerzogParticipantRedskins are now in love with Cousins. He might not be available.
Why no love for Keenum? Isn’t he doing exactly what we want? He gets the ball out fast and he knows the system, and he’s winning.
I sincerely hope they DO like Mannion since they spent a 3rd round draft pick on him. He should be our future quarterback. If he isn’t, than I don’t have any faith in this Snead to draft a better one in the upcoming draft.
