According to PFF, OL Kevin Dotson is currently tied for the top-graded offensive lineman (88.9)

And they got him for nothing.

    Hopefully, he will re-sign.

As we have noted before Larry Brooks was one of the most ‘unknown’ great players of the modern era.

(I would not have guessed Alex Karras was that high on the list.

Wonder where Merlin ranked on that list.   He was mainly a run-stopper in that defense, i think.   Just hold the line and wait for Deacon to make trouble.

    Aaron Donald 0.728
    2. Alan Page 0.681
    3. John Randle 0.628
    4. Keith Millard 0.624

    That’s all here:

The NFL’s All-Time Career Sack Leaders, Updated with John Turney’s pre-1982 Numbers: https://theramshuddle.com/topic/all-time-career-sack-leaders-updated-with-john-turneys-pre-1982-numbers/

If you go through that thread, you’ll find this:

Here are the top 12, including both official and unofficial stats. I do career sacks, not just sacks with the Rams.

    Deacon Jones – 173.5
    Kevin Greene – 160
    Jack Youngblood – 151.5
    Coy Bacon – 130
    Kevin Carter – 104.5
    Fred Dryer – 103
    Merlin Olsen – 94
    Leonard Little – 87.5
    Robert Quinn – 80.5
    Larry Brooks – 74.5
    Aaron Donald – 72
    Chris Long – 70

That’s from 2020 in June before the season, so obviously the numbers on Donald are wrong. Anyway, the thing about Brooks is, he was getting sacks very early in his career. As a rookie in fact. Over the years, injuries took a lot away from him.

The wikipedia article on Brooks is full of details like that including the sack numbers in his early years.

It surprises me that the Deacon wasn’t at the top for most sacks per game, though he’s really close.

He did lead in several other categories:

    Most 15+ sack seasons — all-time
    Deacon Jones — 6

    Most 20+ sack seasons — all-time
    Deacon Jones — 3

Most times leading NFL in sacks in a season
    Deacon Jones — 5

    Still my favorite Ram, evah.

    Here’s the thing about that.

Youngblood, Dryer, Olsen, and Brooks played on the same line. As most people here know.

mong rams olinemen or all olinemen?

That’s the highest score of any offensive lineman. Only Penei Sewell (OT) Lions has the same score: 88.9.

Every other OL in the league has a lower rating than the two of them.

That’s a ranking for all NFL lineman. He’s not just the top guard, he’s tied for the top OL.

    All OL.

I apologize, Zooey, it looks like I stepped on your response to Invader. I was just drunk on enthusiasm for Dotson’s ascent.

The Rams have held three straight opponents to fewer than 21 points for the first time since Weeks 5-7 of the 2021 season.

Well, I spoke to my attorney about that, and he said that since you are the one who posted the tweet with that information originally, and I merely quoted it, it didn’t matter that invader addressed me with the question. You arguably had a priori rights to answer it.

So I was going to just drop it. But since I now have your apology in hand, indicating you know you did something wrong, I will call him back on Monday.

In the meantime, you will see that my answer appeared in two forms, 4 hours apart. That’s because the one that appears later didn’t post on account of having too many nested quotes, or images, or whatever hangs up posts, so I just revised the post to reduce the amount of code, and the second post got through immediately.

I just mention that in case you would like to delete one of them. (My attorney and I will be very interested to see which one you delete).

And what team does your attorney follow? Hmmm?

Given the timing of all this, he sounds suspiciously like a Cleveland fan who is still bitter about the Rams leaving that city for LA in 1946.
