I listened to that. A little ominous.
This is reminding me of what happened to Terrel Owens. If you recall Owens did not initially start out as a diva type.

For 4 of the top 5 seasons in that chart, the qb was Stafford. It’s Calvin Johnson 3 times, and Nacua once.

znModeratorPuka Nacua's production this season has been as complete as you could ask for from a wide receiver.
He's been one of the most efficient receivers at the catch point and after it, ranking first in both contested catches and yards after catch, among other stats. pic.twitter.com/GpIR7dqlvD

InvaderRamModeratorthat’s a nice graphic there. the only weakness he has is tds. my guess is he has to improve in the red zone. maybe davante adams can give him some pointers.

I can’t recall a Rams receiver that has caused me to rewatch catches to figure out just how he held onto a ball as often as Puka has.

I hadn’t thought of that, but that is exactly right. Its not just the quantity with Puka, its the quality.
The ‘numbers’ after 16 games. Puka is 70 yds behind JSN :
Puka 109.3 yds per game.
JSN: 106.8JSN: 1709 yds
Puka: 1639 (in 15 games)December 30, 2025 at 6:59 pm #160668
InvaderRamModeratorif puka had caught that ball at the end of the game, that woulda been hands down the best catch i have ever seen a rams wr make.
i mean it just slipped out maybe a cm??? out of his hands. for maybe a millisecond??? a cm away from snagging a ball one handed with a defender draped on his arm. while dragging his feet and stretched out on the sidelines. that was crazy.
December 30, 2025 at 7:04 pm #160669
InvaderRamModeratorok. i’m just gonna say it. the best non-catch i’ve ever seen anywhere.

I can’t prove this obviously but my bet is that if Puka hadn’t mouthed off, they would have given him that catch.
But to be honest it’s not even the best one I’ve seen from him. I said it before–Nucua is a solid receiver in every aspect of his game, but he’s elite in the phone booth at the point of the catch, especially contested catches. And sideline catches, which are also within a phone booth. It’s as if when the ball is within inches of him, all of a sudden all 4 of his limbs each has its own brain, octopus style.

znModeratorPuka Nacua’s focus on consistency made him the NFL’s top pass-catcher
I’m not sure Puka can do anything consciously to make himself what he is. Yes, he can work on his game and on being consistent. And he’s a solid WR when it comes to all the things a WR can work on–routes, seeing what the defense is doing, blocking, etc.
But I don’t think he can consciously develop the thing that sets him absolutely apart. What sets him apart are the crazy, instantaneous. 4-limbs adjusting differently all at once type catches he makes “in the phone booth” when the ball arrives. Who else gets their feet inbounds perfectly at the sideline while making a one-handed grab at an odd angle with a defender right on top of him?
He’s the only player I personally have ever seen who caught a TD on a back shoulder throw…when the defender was right BEHIND him (!!)
Puka Nacua SNAGS his 10th TD of the season! 🤙#LocalsInTheNFL #RamsHouse #BYU @kslsports

You can’t teach that stuff. You can’t learn that stuff. You can’t “work on” that stuff.
Spiderman was bitten by a radioactive spider. Nacua was bitten by a radioactive gymnastic contortionist with good hands.
