Me, too. I get a good laugh everytime I see a clip of that play. 😉
You know, the Saints had plenty chances to win.
They probably win if they run on all 3 down on that series. There won’t be enough time left for the Rams to get close enough to kick the game tying FG.
They could just stop Rams with defense while they led at the end.
They could score first in OT.
They could stop the Rams in OT.
I like it better that that play happened, cause Peyton deserves it.

They were just there a year too early.

Be proud they even made it that far.

again. can i just say milestone game for goff?

this is one of the games we look back on in what is hopefully a long career. all hopefully with the rams of course.

in that dome? against a hof qb?

120 passer rating after the first quarter? having to wear his backup qbs helmet and it’s still cutting out?

whoa man. he grew up today.

To be fair that was just on 2 series. The speaker in the helmet radio system malfunctioned and they replaced it.

    Finished watchin it.

I guess my main takeaway is how mentally tough the whole team turned out to be. Patriot-tuff. Ya know.
That saint-dome-advantage was about as strong as any home field advantage I’ve ever seen. Including Seattle.
Or the old snowy Met Stadium in the 60’s in Viking land.

That was a HUGE advantage the Saints had, on offense and on defense. And yet Goff and the Rams just toughed it out, and hung in there, and slowly clawed and clawed and clawed away at the Saints. The Rams slowly dragged em down.

This is not a ‘Hollywood’ team. Not a finesse team. This is a battle-tested, tough team that hammered Dallas and outlasted the Saints in the dome.

And now The Patriots. Two men enter, one man leaves...

I like this take on the game: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/silver-goffs-miraculous-throw-helps-send-rams-to-super-bowl/

After some ups and downs Goff emerges from this season as the clutch qb we was always hopin for.

Actually the number of clutch plays in that game was huge.

On the game winning FG in overtime Hekker had to manage a bad snap for example.

And speaking of Hekker when was the last time he actually completed a pass during a fake punt.

I like the fact that Wade has coached against Brady/Belichick. I wonder how many times he’s coached against em.

That whole game left a bad taste in my mouth. Even with the promise of the Super Bowl (and one of my favorite non-Rams NFL things–rooting against the Patriots.)

The Rams played like shit for a good portion of the game. We got to watch McVay bench Gurley. I love CJ Anderson but it’s not like he was kicking ass like he has been. Goff had his requisite fumble and I think Aikman correctly pointed out that Goff needed to hang in a little tougher a couple of times to take advantage of the Saints reckless blitzing. I noticed one 3rd down where Goff had an easy pass to Woods running wide open over the middle but he threw an incomplete pass to a covered Reynolds.

Reynolds also dropped an easy catch.

Then, there’s the awful play at the end by Joyner. That was pathetic.

I hope someone teaches NRC to avoid PI. He had 2 clear penalties that would have given the Saints first downs. About the worst thing he could do on the big no-call was commit PI. In that situation, giving up a td is better than giving up a first down via penalty. And NRC made absolutely no attempt to play the ball.

I hope the coaches are critical of his play this week because giving the Pats first downs via penalties on shit play in the secondary will lead to disaster.

I hate to be a wet towel on the Super Bowl excitement, but I did not enjoy that game at all. I didn’t even go into the specifics of the 1st quarter where the Rams were literally running into each other as the Saints scored a td!

Okay, but…bear in mind…the Rams hung in there, on the road, in what is now perhaps the toughest stadium to play…against the season’s most balanced and most consistent team…and put themselves in a position to take advantage of opportunities to gut out a win.

While holding Ingraham/Kamara to 50 yards rushing.

Not all wins are pretty. But they are all wins.

Well thats kinda how i felt back in 99 after the Rams survived the Bucs. Sometimes these games aint pretty.

But the Bucs didnt play pretty either in that game. And the Saints didnt in this one.

And the Steelers probly got away with the Frenchy Fuqua thing. And then there was the Tuck rule thing. And on and on. The football gods cannot be defied 🙂

i’ll say this. rams fans can’t claim any anti-rams bias on this crew or the nfl.

cuz they got away with one for sure on that call.

    hehe.

it really does all even out in the end.

Gutty, clutch, poised performance in an incredibly difficult road playoff game.

But the whole team was that way. (cept Gurley?)

    A reflection of McVay.

    Suh deserves special recognition.

He has been their best player since the playoffs began.

Shame he didn’t play with this intensity all year, but if he can help the Rams defeat Emporer Belicheck and Darth Brady, all will be forgiven.

Check out what Eric Mangini said about this at the 3:28 Mark.

This segment was last week after the Dallas game…… “high priced FA’s make business decisions to save themselves for the playoffs” …..

Late to the party here. I’d be pissed if I were a Saints fan. But- like others have mentioned, two missed facemask calls (one of which would have resulted in a first and goal at the Saints one) and not one, but two missed delay of game calls. Clearly, this crew wanted no part of affecting the game. And as a result, they did anyway. They let the two teams play. I would bet my last dollar that the flags will be a-flying in Atlanta. Which I think works against the Patriots.

One last note on Coleman. Had he played the ball and not the man, it’s an interception and possibly a pick 6.
