Mahomes has been great, Brees has been great, some others.

But they have great supporting casts.

I think Aaron Donald has been doin it alone out there, week after week. Double teams, triple teams, down after down. With the Rules protecting offense and QBs.

Take him off the Rams and I dunno if they even have a winning record. They might be 8-8 or somethin.

Its very close, but I would vote for Aaron Donald. Not because I’m a ram fan, just because of his play.

Thanks for your support for Donald. That means a lot coming from a Niners fan.

I also think Donald should be MVP. Brees is having a very good year but he’s not doing anything we haven’t seen from a lot of other QBs in the modern age.

Mahomes is having a huge year statistically, but he’s lost most of the big, meaningful games he’s played thus far.

Donald is having THE BEST SEASON A DT EVER HAD. And he makes timely plays right when the Rams need them. He comes through in big games.

    That should be rewarded.

Just some tweets on the topic I moved here. I am not endorsing them, just posting them for discussion’s sake.

    Jeff Duncan@JeffDuncan_
Drew Brees leads the NFL in QB rating (115.7), completion percentage (74.4), game-winning drives (7) & fourth-quarter comebacks (6). He is 6-1 against teams with winning records. And most important, his team has the best record in the NFL: 13-2.

    He’s the MVP

    Albert Breer@AlbertBreer
I love what Patrick Mahomes has done this year. But I’m sticking with Drew Brees as MVP for a really simple reason: On big stages, he’s come up huge for the Saints. Outstanding against the Rams, Steelers and Eagles.

    Your MVP race is now

    1. Pat Mahomes
    2. Aaron Donald
    3. Drew Brees
    4. Andrew Luck

I agree with all of that. I think he should win, too.

But I’m starting to think the Rams have another guy, on offense, who should be considered on a team basis. Not MVP of the league, necessarily. But MVP of the Rams.

Robert Woods. I think he’s special, and he isn’t getting anywhere near enough credit. IMO, one of the most important FA acquisitions in a long, long time.

But, yeah, Donald is HOF caliber, easily. He should be first ballot. Too bad Quinn got hurt and they let him go. The two of them together would have brought back visions of the Fearsome Foursome. Deacon Jones and Merlin. Different styles, of course. But the same effect.

Hope all is well in the mountain state.

I love Robert Woods, too. He’s my favorite player right now, and I think he is completely underappreciated.

I don’t know if he is team MVP, though. The Rams would be dead without Donald, Goff, or Gurley. I can’t imagine the Rams’ defense without Donald. Good lord.

I think Donald needs 3 sacks next week to get serious run for league MVP, however.

Russell Wilson may have moved his name into the discussion now.

at least. but i think it’s too late. if the saints lost last week and then this coming week. then maybe donald has a chance to win. if he gets 4 sacks next sunday.

but then mahomes would also have to lose again next week or he’d probably get it over brees.

all under the scenario where the saints lost last sunday which they didn’t. i think brees is a virtual lock for the award.

    I do, too.

I think Brees gets it even if Donald gets the sacks. He would just get more votes if he does.

I don’t know why we are even debating who deserves the MVP. Mahomes performing at a historic level in his FIRST season as a starter. Just let that marinate.

Patrick Mahomes leads the NFL with 48 passing TDs. Drew Brees leads NFL with 13 QB wins and 115.7 passer rating. Avery time a QB has achieved 48 TDs OR a 13+ wins/115+ rating in NFL history, he has won MVP. This year voters will have to choose.

There’s good arguments for all three. Donald, Brees, Mahomes.

    All three are deserving, imho.

I’d vote for AD simply because i think he has to ‘work harder’ on each play than a god-damned prima-dona-dress-wearing-celebrity-QB.

If the players are all deserving — I’m goin with the guy in the fucking Trenches. Pardon my french.

Brees gets the MVP though. He has the vet status, but it would not put it passed me if somehow Philip Rivers gets some first place votes though. I believe the voters feel that Mahomes is young, and has many MVPs in him.

Just to be extry extry clear, I am not advocating for anyone. I just stumble across tweets here and there randomly about the MVP issue and post em cause I figure they’re of interest. Most of the ones I stumble across are pro-Brees or pro-Mahomes, but that’s just the luck of the draw in the twitter world.
