    Good win under tough conditions.

Some things on D not good.

But Goff and Gurley hung in there to gut it out nicely.

    Goff, game winning drive.

16 points in the second half on the road. crowd was loud. without two of your three best wrs.

impressive. goff was 23/32 for 321 yards. 71.9% completion and 10.0 ypa. not bad. his second int was at the end of the second half. hard to fault him, but it was a really bad 2 minute drill.

woods stepped up in the second half. reynolds and hodge made some plays.

defense was bad. littleton kept making plays though. i like that guy.

gutsy call at the end. goff was pumped.

4th qtr comeback on the road….

That was a great game to watch….

I guess helmet to helmet hits don’t count against the Rams

    Yep.

Starting at their 18 with 10:34 left, down by 1.

Goff 3 of 4 for 51 yards and 3 first downs.

Without Kupp and Cooks, on the road, not just on the road but in Seattle, and the pressure was on because Seattle could score on them and they knew it.

QBs don’t win comebacks by themselves (ever) but they HAVE TO come through for them to work.

Cooks and Kupp both got concussed. Were the hits dirty?

Kupp was just a head-hitting-the-turf thing.

Cooks hit was marginal, but Cooks lowered his head right before impact, so I’m not sure it was a penalty. Close…but not flagrant, imo.

Seattle played tough. They were able to stick with their gameplan, and I think it’s the best strategy to beat the Rams. Run…run…run…play action. Had the Rams scored a TD on that early drive rather than suffer the pachinko interception, it might have forced Seattle out of the strategy earlier.

Seattle played well. Run defense got gouged.

    Goff is good.

Maybe replacing our entire linebacking core was not such a good idea

Thanks Zooey. I was able to read updates but only saw the last three minutes after the Viking Eagle game ended. I wish our bye week was sooner.

it never happens all at once. and it’s probably not accurate to point to one game or another as a turning point.

but i think goff showed me something this game. it wasn’t the best or most dramatic comeback i’ve ever seen. maybe a touchdown would have been the exclamation point i was looking for.

but dang. like it’s been said. on the road against a divisional opponent with an insanely loud crowd. against a superbowl winning hof caliber qb who kept coming up with big plays. and goff came through. without cooks and kupp. knowing he needed to score because the defense kept giving up points.

and no. it wasn’t just him. incredible play by the oline. blowing up holes and keeping goff clean. gurley was gutsy. and let me be frank. i saw the replay. and he got the first down. it never should have gotten to that fourth down qb sneak. but the rams couldn’t challenge it because they had no timeouts. so i fault the coaching staff for that. it could have really bit them in the ass.

goff became more of a leader in this game i think. his teammates already believed in him. but it’s wins like these which really galvanize that belief. so calm and collected when the game was on the line. but you saw that competitiveness boil over at the end when he converted. it was good to see.

as for the defense. the rams are getting pressure from suh and donald. but in my opinion. they need someone else who can finish off plays besides those two. they can’t do it by themselves. at this point. i seriously hope peters gets over his injury. talib comes back in the last half of the season. and that ogbo can contribute just something. even as a situational pass rusher. just something please.

but more than that. the run defense was worse. i don’t know how they fix it. but they gotta fix it. 190 yards on almost 6 ypc. not acceptable. i’m officially worried.

Of course there are going to be tough games. They WON, though. They could have lost that game, and it really would not have been a big shame, and it really wouldn’t have hurt them that much. And tough games are important, too. The Rams need the experience and confidence that comes with these kinds of games because the playoffs are going to be tough as always. They need some gut checks along the way. To stay hungry. I’m good with it.

    Young receivers came up big.

The hit on cooks should have been targeting imo.

Peters takes chances so he will occasionally be beat. Hopefully not as often as this game.

Hopefully the defense will begin felling around week 8 or 9.

Tough win in the road. Woohoo!

i know Peters struggled all day, even though the one TD, the WR was out of bounds and was not called, but he has to play better as well. Plus, I hope that Cooks and Kupp will be ready against Denver next week, because the way our defense has been playing, we need our offense to outscore the Broncos.

Though at this point anyway Peters is not living up to expectations.

Well, he’s living up to the Chiefs’ expectations, which is why they let him go.

I thought it was interesting that Rhonde Barber was not surprised by how badly Peters played. He said that Peters often gets caught looking into the backfield, and get’s burned as often as he big plays. Barber was not a fan.

Well, they were 5th in the league against the run coming into that game, so hopefully that was an aberration and Phillips and Co can fix it. They seemed to really struggle against the Read Option. I mean, who gets fooled by that anymore? But the problem seemed to be more about guys not filling gaps like they’re supposed to rather than just getting physically beat. At least that’s how I saw it.

even now they’re still middle of the pack.

but where were they in ypc going into the game? i don’t remember it being that good but maybe all the negativity is affecting my memory.

right now they’re bottom of the league.

maybe it’s just the read option. i do remember the raiders brutalizing the run defense, but the game got out of hand and the raiders were forced to abandon the run.

regardless i think the rams need to get that ypc down.

Another solid 4th quarter from the Rams defense. I’d like to see them pull that off for four quarters against a good offense, but I’m very happy about the win in what I expected to be a close game. Wilson had too much time for three quarters, and the way he moves around it is difficult for a DB to stay with his man for that long. That said Peters was disappointing for sure. I totally expected Goff to regress this year, super happy to be incorrect so far. That was an unfortunate bounce on his first INT. Perhaps it’s a slightly different game if the Rams score there? Anyway, I’m still not distanced enough from 2005 – 2016 to be anything but overjoyed with the Rams being 5-0.

Before yesterday, yes they were ranked top 10 in rushing yards allowed, BUT were also very low (like 2nd) in rushing attempts against, and very high (like in the 20s) in yards per carry allowed. What I saw before yesterday was not them stopping the run as much as them scoring on teams and so putting them in a position where they had to abandon the run and pass to catch up.

I’ve only seen the hilites so far. Seems like they might be a bit more like the 2000 team as opposed to the 1999 team.

    I’ll take it.

This team is fucking-exciting. Fisher’s teams were fucking-boring.

i don’t think this defense is quite as bad as that 2000 rams’ defense. but not quite as good as the 1999 version either.

    somewhere in between.

one big difference between the 99 rams and this year’s edition is that there is no catching teams by surprise this year. there was a lot of hype building around this team from last year. and then with the offseason additions. no. teams were preparing for these rams.

    so. i don’t i know how much of a difference that’s made.

football outsiders ranks the defense 9th through week 4. that’ll likely go down after this week. but they rank 23rd against the run. and i’m sure that’ll go down as well.

another thing that’s been disappointing is special teams has taken a huge hit this year. they rank 17th this year. this despite the blocked punts by littleton. my guess is gz being out and the return game being affected by injuries to cooper and then to natson hasn’t helped.

the 99 rams team had great special teams units. didn’t they have that coach who loved to run around training camp with something strapped to his back making loud noises?

anyway, that rams team was well rounded. this year. not so much.

Seattle’s o-line was much improved over the clowns that the Mob Squad feasted on the past few years. They did a decent job pass protecting and opened up some nice holes in the run game although Inthink most of the issues with run defense involved defenders being out of position/getting fooled by the read option.

I watched it. Looked to me like Seattle played about as good as they can play, without Earl Thomas.
And the Rams just played kinda ‘average.’ Not that they were flat, but they were not playin their focused “A” game.

I’m not sure who they need more, Aquib Talib or Legatron.

A team is gonna need a top-five offense or a top-five defense to stop the Rams it looks like. (Aside from one of them ‘rams are flat’ games.) So who is left on the schedule that has a top 5 offense or defense?

    Gansz. To be pedantic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Gansz

A lot of fans could not stand him, including Jim Fadler and Fast Eddie, but I thought he fielded good units.
