I am going to say that a top 5 offense has to be among the 1st 5 in yards and also among the top 10 in scoring. But no one else has to define it that way.
Last year they were 1st in total points, 3rd in offensive points per game, 10th in total yards, 10th in passing yards (in spite of being 24th in passing attempts), and 8th in rushing yards. They were 1st in INTs thrown per game.
Yet the were also 10th in 3rd down conversion percentage and 17th in Team Red Zone Scoring Percentage (TD only).

and if everyone is healthy i think it’s totally within reach.
the reasons being i only see goff and kupp getting better. and cooks is totally an upgrade over watkins.
my only real worry is the tight end position.

If TE is a worry, seems to me they can back-seat it. They will have the WRs and the RB. Not saying they are equivalent to the GSOT WRs and RB, but, the GSOT didn’t have TEs either.
My main things are OL health, and Goff & co. in clutch situations. Sometimes when I bring up clutch situations, some people say, well I would rather have a team that just outscores the opposition from the get-go. I think the NFC is too tough for that. Good teams play good teams and end up in tight games. I think that’s inevitable. And in 2017, they didn’t pull that off enough times. We know that just from watching but there’s also this stat: %Passes Completed, Late & Close. With that he was 45.3% which ranked 31st. To be fair that covers just 53 of his 477 passes but still. ( That stat is here btw: http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFC&rank=043&type=Passing&year= ).

The Rams can’t affect the Falcons, Saints, Steelers, etc… offense, but they are still strong at RB and have improved at WR, while Goff has gotten another year of experience. And I think the defense will force a lot of punts and turnovers, putting the offense back on a short field.

there might be more balls to go around this year ...
What if the offense converts a couple more firsts downs a game and the defense gets a couple more stops a game … then the offense will be able to run more plays!
In 2017 the Rams ran on average 62.6 plays per game. That was 19th in the league. The top 8 team averaged between 66.1 and 67.5 plays a game. What if the Rams landed in the middle of that bunch: 66.8 plays per game. That’s an additional 4.2 plays per game … which works out to 67 more plays over the course of the season. The Rams could target Cooks more than they targeted Watkins and also feed a lot more balls to the TEs in 2017 without taking any touches away from anyone else!!

Additionally, Goff was 16th in the league in completion percentage among players with at least 200 attempts at 62.1. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=1&season=2017&seasonType=REG&d-447263-n=1&d-447263-o=2&d-447263-p=1&statisticPositionCategory=QUARTERBACK&qualified=true&d-447263-s=PASSING_COMPLETION_PERCENTAGE If he cracks the top 10 (64.2%) and throws 67 more passes his number of completions will go from 296 to 349. That’s 53 more receptions to divvy up among Cooks and the TEs without taking a single catch away from anyone else.

Everything I’ve seen says there’s a noticeable difference with this year’s O. A full Ota and mini camp (on offense) they look sharp . I’ve watched some from other teams and they aren’t sharp like the Rams. I watched some from the Whiners and they were pretty laid back same with KC.The Rams have an intensity, or focus that I don’t see in other teams.

I dunno. You’re probably right. But, maybe playing in the dome actually took a toll? Though, it didn’t in 99. So who knows.

yeah. that’s what i was getting at. even with te being a question mark, they should be top 5.
i say clutch is different for me. just total volume of yards. production. they should be top 5 regardless of if goff is clutch or not.
clutchness for me will come into play more in terms of wins and losses and in the playoffs.
