Which album is the most overrated?
For me that would be the Beatles’ “The White Album”. There are some good songs on it, but there’s too much crap on it to belong in the Pantheon of rock albums, where it currently resides according to many.
April 11, 2018 at 12:17 pm #85067joemadParticipantfor me, it’s Boston….
In addition, i’ll never understand the popularity that Meat Loaf and Bruce Springsteen had…….. I just don’t get it. To me, they fucking sucked……

Outside of two songs Doo Wop(That Thing) and Ex-Factor. I just didn’t feel like it was warranted the success it achieved.
Now start a thread of your most underrated album.
April 12, 2018 at 1:10 am #85076ZooeyModeratorBoston doesn’t belong in the Top 100, let alone the Top 10.
The White Album seems overrated to me, too. There was some crap on that album. There is an awful lot of good stuff, but there is some crap. And a Top 10 album should be crap-free.
That list is interesting. It has Sweet – Desolation Blvd well above Prince – Purple Rain. And I don’t know how Bob Seger gets rated. Nirvana clocks in at 407 – well back of Journey, and Heart, and Pat Benatar, and Kansas, and Joan Jett, FFS.
Could go on all day with that list, I guess.
April 13, 2018 at 11:21 pm #85114wvParticipantI dunno anything about music. But i heard on NPR that Bon Jovi got into the rock hall of fame. I dunno how that kind of thing happens. I would have put Chris Massey in the Rock Hall of Fame before i put Bon Jovi in.
“The Rock Hall’s Class of 2018 also includes Nina Simone, Dire Straits, Moody Blues, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and the Cars. The 33rd annual induction ceremony will take place April 14th at Cleveland’s Public Hall. The ceremony will be broadcast on SiriusXM as well as HBO…”

Very different from NME’s…
Anyway, on the “Overrated” list I put everything by Styx, almost everything by Paul McCartney (solo or with Wings), and the latest few from Cold Play.
My all time overrated album is Thriller.
