Like old-soul head coach Sean McVay, #Rams are mature beyond their years. It’s served them well in breakthrough year

Every once in awhile you see this in sports, but #Rams took a major bite out of the #Seahawks today, It was obvious afterward. They were stunned, perplexed. That’s a Seahawks problem now. All of Rams focus was ahead. Looking forward. Uncanny how the page got turned.

Rams Andrew Whitworth told me that, while they lost to #Eagles there was an enlightenment aspect to it. Going toe-to-toe with perceived best team in #NFC and, frankly, knowing they were in position to win, was an awakening. In other words: Rams know they can play with anyone

CB Troy Hill was the only Ram to play all 57 defensive snaps on Sunday. LB Cory Littleton played 54. Lamarcus Joyner and Trumaine Johnson played 48.

Wow. Aaron Donald did all that damage (3 sacks, 4 QB hits, 2 TFLs, 1 forced fumble, 5 tackles 10 QB pressures) on just 39 snaps.

Rob Havenstein, Jamon Brown and Rodger Saffold were the three Rams to play all 71 snaps on offense. Whitworth, Sullivan and Goff were pulled after 56.

Rams average drive start on Sunday? The Los Angeles 47. Started 8 possessions, including 7 of first 9, outside its own half of the field.

Making his first start of the year in the wake of Kayvon Webster’s injury, Hill earned a @PFF grade of 87.6, the third highest in the NFL among cornerbacks on Sunday. @thrilll_32

Troy Hill knew it was a big day for him on Sunday and he responded with a big game.

Hill was targeted four times, allowing one reception for 4 yards. He allowed a passer rating of just 39.6 on 42 coverage snaps.

Carroll on the Rams: “It seemed like they were faster than us.”

The Rams pressured Russell Wilson on nearly half of his dropbacks and allowed less than three yards per play

Don’t sleep on Robert Quinn. The Rams’ outside linebacker has six sacks over his last four games and, according to Pro Football Focus, has generated 17 quarterback pressures during that time. That’s the same amount of pressures he had through the season’s first eight games.

Rams RB Todd Gurley has forced 12 missed tackles in the running game and has averaged 4.24 yards after contact over the last two weeks, both tops in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.

Rams WR Robert Woods hauled in all six of his targets on Sunday. Among receivers with at least 500 snaps this season, Woods ranks fourth in passer rating when targeted (121.6), per Pro Football Focus.

Rams S Lamarcus Joyner: “I seen it in OTAs, I seen it in training camp — the continuity we had, the belief we had in one another. We win like this, it’s no surprise to anyone.”

Saffold has been an absolute beast these last few weeks

Rams GM Les Snead caught a lot of heat when the Rams were circling the drain last year. Conversely, he deserves a lot of credit for cobbling together this roster.

Another reason all the intrigue this season is in the NFC:
Every NFC division leader finished in either third or fourth place last year.

Johnny Hekker punted twice for the Rams on Sunday, both in the second half. But afterward, his right hand was packed in ice.
    Why?
“Probably high-fiving too much,” he joked.
