…decided this is the appropriate course of action for the organization and for Adrian,” Vikings owners Zygi Wilf and Mark Wilf said in the statement. “We are always focused on trying to make the right decision as an organization.

“We embrace our role — and the responsibilities that go with it — as a leader in the community, as a business partner and as an organization that can build bridges with our fans and positively impact this great region. We appreciate and value the input we have received from our fans, our partners and the community.”

Not sure I agree with this decision.
A person isn’t ‘guilty’ until the
jury sez guilty. AP is simply
    ‘accused’ of something (thats really
hard to prove) at this stage.

The Hernandez thing and the Rice
thing seem different to me — more
obvious proof, etc. And Rice had
already agreed to a pretrial diversion
and thus had had his day in court.

I agree with you wv. The Vikings are punishing Peterson before guilt has been established and they are doing it publicly. The Vikings are getting a boatload of public money to build a new stadium so they must feel considerable pressure to do something. Sure feels like they are throwing Peterson under the bus.

Peterson really has not disputed that he hit the child. The only question of “guilt” is if his actions are considered “child abuse”.

That is a legal AND moral question.

    People will disagree on that.

But the court of public opinion is what the Vikings fear. They have the right to treat that as they see fit.

Some teams avoided Michael Sam because they feared the distraction. If that is now an issue with Peterson the team will cede to those pressures. It doesn’t matter what the court says.

Disagree WV. The Vikings cannot put AD in jail. They cannot prosecute him. Guilt or innocence is only an issue if they had the power to prosecute him. That is a matter for the D.A.and the criminal court system. What they do have is the power to discipline any player for conduct they consider contrary to their own by laws EVEN if that conduct is not criminal behavior. It’s up to the NFLPA to challenge that.
