Rams chat with Jim Thomas
http://live.stltoday.com/Event/Rams_chat_with_Jim_Thomas_55?Page=2
Hi Jim, Nice to get a win! I liked what I saw from Austin Davis, I’m not getting to crazy but he kind of looks like Drew Brees, small kid, #9. I said looks like, let’s hope he can keep it up. Over under Demarco Murray rushes for 250 this sunday?
by Run Off Ronnie 2:01 PMDavis has been a pleasant surprise. He didn’t look overwhelmed in any way shape or form on Sunday. As for Murray, I think he’s already gained 80 yards on the Rams.
by jthomas 2:02 PMWhat is the problem with our run defense?
by Tom 2:02 PMThat’s the question, isn’t it. The run defense has been a major disappointment. I still see missed tackles. Opponents getting on the edge too easily, which means the Rams are not holding the perimeter. And a lot of it is simply not being able to shed blocks.
by jthomas 2:04 PMHow does UDFA Westbrooks play more than #2 overall Robinson?
by WackCity 2:04 PMThe short answer is that there is a rotation system on the defensive line; that’s almost never the case on the offensive line. Westbrooks played Sunday because of Chris Long’s injury; that wasn’t the case against Tampa Bay.
by jthomas 2:05 PMthrough the first 2 game sof the season the offense has not been very creative, do you think we will dig a little deeper into the play book and pull out something along the line of the “annexation of puerto rico.”?
by ice box o’shea 2:05 PMI’m not familiar with the “annexation of Puerto Rico” play, but yes, the Rams have played it pretty conservative the past two weeks. Having an unproven QB making his first NFL start _ and taking over at halftime in Game 1 _ probably had something to do with it.
by jthomas 2:07 PMOL sure looked a lot better Sunday..Saffold n Barks were great..did you notice the improvement Jim?
by moose 2:07 PMYes, I thought so too. The pass blocking was much improved; the run-blocking a little better. There’s still lots of room for improvement, and I think that will come with this unit playing together.
by jthomas 2:08 PMHow do you think this OLine fares vs. SF and SEA?
by Tom 2:09 PMThey’ll have to play much better than even they did against Tampa to avoid having a long day.
by jthomas 2:09 PMWhat is the adjustment on defense to the quick passing teams are using to slow down Rams pass rush? Do they have the personnel to press cover and blitz to stop this tactic? where is all the Greg Williams genuis we heards about. I think the league has figured him out by now.
by WackCity 2:10 PMWhen the ball comes out quickly, it all but neutralizes the blitz. Press coverage, when effective, can disrupt the route-running and throw off the timing of the route. Pass defense isn’t the problem with this team right now _ they rank fifth in the league. It’s the run defense. It wouldn’t hurt to have some takeaways, either.
by jthomas 2:12 PMHow many snaps did number 2 overall pick Greg Robinson play in Sunday vs Bucs
by RichieI 2:12 PMRobinson did not play any snaps on offense; he played 5 on special teams.
by jthomas 2:13 PMEveryone seems to disklike it, but I’m pretty happy with Tavon being in the backfield every now and again. He is our most dynamic player and we have to get him the ball even if we have to hand it to him.
by Jeff 2:13 PMTo the people that dislike having Tavon in the backfield _ they aren’t the same ones screaming to find more creative ways to use him are they?
by jthomas 2:14 PMThe cowboys have the best LT in football IMO. I can see Quinn having a quiet day. With Long out and Quinn neutralized, how many passing yards do you see Romo ending up with?
by poopeyerus 2:14 PM357. No, it’s impossible to predict. But Dallas is a real test offensively because they can both run and pass the football. And the Rams faced a couple of players who are largely career backups. They’re not facing a career backup this week.
by jthomas 2:16 PMIf Doug Martin plays, that game is not even close. The back-up guy had 122 yards. Stacey is not a legit #1 back. and here comes Demarco Murray. over/under on his rushing total? 200?
by WackCity 2:16 PMI don’t know. I kind of think Rainey is a more dynamic back in terms of speed and maneuverability. Rainey actually had 144 yards Sunday. Yeah, it’s a slow start for Stacy, although he looked better Sunday.
by jthomas 2:18 PMDo you know anymore on Tavon’s condition or is it just wait and see?
by ky kid 2:18 PMNothing new. We’ll know more on Wednesday, the first practice day of the week.
by jthomas 2:18 PMRumor was Bailey would be back from suspension early… Anything new on that front?
by SF Rams fan 2:19 PMThe Rams are fully expecting it this week because they cut Conrath to free up a roster spot for Bailey. It could get finalized today.
by jthomas 2:20 PMRunning Tavon off-tackle not exactly how to use a space player. Can someone please provide the OC with game film for C. Patterson, P.Harvin, B. Cooks?
by HomerG 2:20 PMI guess you missed that end-around where he gained 18 yards, and might have scored a touchdown had he gotten one more down-field block.
by jthomas 2:21 PMHi Jim–thanks for doing these chats. What’s your view on the O-line so far? Who’s over- and under-performing? Should we be worried over the long haul?
by c_good 2:22 PMI think they all should be performing better. Certainly Wells and Joseph have had some bumps. I thought Jake Long was impressive vs. Tampa _ run-blocking and pass-blocking. Saffold and Barksdale have been OK, maybe a little better than OK. Again, these guys barely played together as a unit. The more they play, I think the more they’ll get some cohesiveness.
by jthomas 2:30 PMJT – this is a great chance for QB Davis, i thought they should be playing him instead of Hill. We all know what Hill is – a back-up. Would like to see what Davis could do with a season of game play under his belt. What say you?
by AttaBoy 2:30 PMI think Davis played well enough to deserve another chance. And I think he’ll get it this week because I’m not sure Hill’s ready to play this week.
by jthomas 2:31 PMAs mobile as Austin Davis is, and as much as I enjoyed his performance vs. TB, wouldnt Hill’s pocket presence along with our improving OL, give us the best chance vs. Dallas’ meh defense?
by poopeyerus 2:31 PMDefinitely sounds like the minority opinion on this chat. Again, I’m not sure if HIll is healthy enough to play this week.
by jthomas 2:34 PMJim, as well as Davis played, did the team have to dumb down the offense to his current abilities, and is this something that other teams would adjust to easily, meaning that there would be a lot of growing pains if he was to continue being the starting qb. I am assuming that Schottenheimer’s normal offensive scheme can be dumbed down (j/k).
by Cicero 2:37 PMI don’t think they dummied it down. Although they didn’t go deep as much this week as they did vs. Minnesota. Then again, it’s hard to throw deep against the Cover 2. The Rams also did some things to tailor the offense to Austin Davis’ skill set. Such as rollouts, bootlegs. Even a jump pass or two.
by jthomas 2:41 PMWhen can we officially call Greg Robinson a “bust”?
by kevin 2:41 PMAfter two games? As Mike Martz would say, you’ve got to be kidding me. Granted, Orlando Pace had a training camp holdout, but he didn’t start until like Game 6 as a rookie. He was some bust. I guess Blake Bortles is a bust as well. He didn’t start last week.
by jthomas 2:42 PMis everyone involved in the RGIII trade cursed? sheeeeesh
by HeHateMe 2:42 PMSure seems that way.
by jthomas 2:43 PMJim….I do not have “Rose Color” glasses on, but wand your thoughts. Austin Davis reminds me a little of Joe Montana. Little arm strength, can move out of the pocket, hits open receivers, make plays, has a way with him and has confidence which his teammates share in him. Thoughts….
by Larry 2:43 PMWhoa. Pump the brakes there. No, hit them firmly. It was one game.
by jthomas 2:43 PMHi Jim, strangest win in St. Louis Rams history? Can you nominate a runner up?
by ihtnep 2:43 PMThe only one that comes to mind off the top of my head would be a 1996 win vs. Jacksonville, where the Rams were outgained something like 500 yards to 170, but had a bunch of turnovers and pulled out a squeaker.
by jthomas 2:45 PMIf you had the pick would you take Mariotta or Gurley II?
by AttaBoy 2:45 PMRight now, I’d say Mariotta.
by jthomas 2:45 PMDoes Kenny Britt go with Stedman Bailey coming back? He’s on pace for 8 catches this year. Not great for a starting wide receiver.
by jay 2:45 PMYeah, but he’s been targeted exactly four times in two games. Which means over the course of an entire season, he’s thrown at only 32 times. It may take Bailey a week or so to get up to speed.
by jthomas 2:46 PMAre Rams fans still wishing they had drafted RGIII instead of scalping Washington for all those draft picks?
by Pigskin 2:46 PMYeah, but some of those draft picks need to start having breakout years.
by jthomas 2:47 PMThis is pretty grim. If Evans doesn’t get hurt on the last play we lose that game on a last second field goal thanks to the three man rush. We can’t run on a garbage team. We can’t stop the run. Good pass defense against two journey-men QBs. This has the feel of heading back into the abyss…
by laramsfan 2:47 PMYou are the bluebird of happiness aren’t you.
by jthomas 2:48 PMJim, Do you think Robinson starts at guard after the bye? That will give him a couple more weeks to learn, or is he still too far off? Wells has not looked good this year, is he in jeopardy of losing his job?
by Bull 2:48 PMDifficult to say on Robinson. Notice that it was Tim Barnes _ and not Robinson _ who came in during goal line situation when Rams went with extra blockers. And no, I don’t think Wells is in danger of losing job.
by jthomas 2:49 PMWhile the penalties were down over Week One there were still far too many Sunday. I don’t understand the lining up offside by the defense. Do the Rams hand out stupid pills and force the players to take them?
by Pigskin 2:50 PMHard to imagine, I know. But even more exasperating was Eugene Sims getting called not once, but twice for a horse-collar tackle.
by jthomas 2:50 PMBurwell’s take is that Hill will be out this Sunday and perhaps as long as Game Four. Is Hill a slow healer or is Fish using this as a smoke screen to have Dallas prepare for both? He appeared okay walking to the sideline in Game One and I am not convinced that Fish is playing a game right now to see if Davis is for real. Wouldn’t be the first time a coach has used this strategy and likely won’t be the last, will it?
by Pigskin 2:51 PMI’m not a big believer in Oliver Stone theories. I think this is a two-week injury and that Hill probably doesn’t play this week.
by jthomas 2:52 PMOn the run defense…is it possible the D-line and LBs just aren’t as good as people thought they were, at least at this point in the season? For all the positive comments made about Brockers, Hayes, Laurinitis, and Ogletree, you’d think they’d be stuffing RBs left and right.
by c_good 2:53 PMYou may be right. Maybe they’re not as good as we thought.
by jthomas 2:53 PMWhen will TE Alex Bayer see more playing time. He is a talent and we enjoyed watching him at BGSU the last few years.
by Ohio Rams Fan 2:53 PMHe has been on the pregame inactive list in the first two contests, so has yet to see regular-season game action. Right now he’s behind Jared Cook, Lance Kendricks, and Cory Harkey, so something would have to happen to them for him to see any action.
by jthomas 2:55 PMWells has looked terrible, how come we brought him back again this year?
by Ryan 2:55 PMHe was brought back, but at a reduced rate.
by jthomas 2:55 PMthats my point exactly, why dont hey have 6-10 plays like that a game?
by HomerG 2:55 PMYou’d lose the element of surprise with six-10 end-arounds per game. The Rams have more in their Tavon Austin package than we’ve seen. But they had to get out of it _ at least the Tavon running out of the backfield part of it _ against Minnesota when Patterson’s score made it 20-3 late in the third quarter. And against Tampa, Austin lasted only 1 1/2 quarters before his injury.
by jthomas 2:58 PMWhy does a “run first team” pass on 3rd and one, and run on 3rd and 13? If I recall correctly they weren’t backed up on their own goal line on the 3rd and 13…I think it was the play following the delay.
by AzRamsFan 3:00 PMMaybe they’re trying to be unpredictable.
by jthomas 3:00 PMThe potential irony of Bailey ending up a better NFL player than Tavon has a real chance. I personally don’t care where guys are drafted, as long as the overall class is a success. That said, who will be our #3 WR this week if Tavon is a no go?
by poopeyerus 3:00 PMIf Tavon can’t play, the next in line at slot receiver is Austin Pettis. Of course, having Bailey in the mix could change the rotation.
by jthomas 3:01 PMI have not seen a lot of detail given on the “new” drug policy. What is in it that would allow players like Bailey to return before their time is up?
by Pigskin 3:02 PMGenerally speaking, I think it lessens the penalties for certain infractions.
by jthomas 3:02 PMTJ McDonald has had a big two weeks and looks like a player. He had some big hits against Minnesota, blocked two kicks and delivered a crushing blow to end the game last week.
by jay 3:04 PMI think both he and Rodney McLeod are making strides at safety.
by jthomas 3:04 PMJim, why does Fisher place such a priority on his DLine but on the other hand think he can get away with has-beens and never-weres on the OLine. Even vs. Tampa’s second string DLine, our OL was not so great.
by Tom 3:05 PMThe Rams have sunk a lot of money into the o-line. It’s been every bit the priority as the defensive line. Long and Wells have played in Pro Bowls. Saffold was signed to a $30 million-plus free agent contract. Robinson was a No. 2 overall pick. So the Rams haven’t ignored the position.
by jthomas 3:08 PMJim – Given the emergence of Quick, who do you see losing playing time when Bailey returns? Pettis made some big catches Sunday.
by McGarrett 3:08 PMHard to see Quick’s playing time going down much given his production. Maybe Brit gets fewer reps. Maybe Pettis. Or maybe you go with more three-receiver sets.
by jthomas 3:09 PMWe don’t hear much about the play/progress of Michael Brokers, who was supposed to be the Albert Haynesworth of this defence when he was drafted (according to some). His play certainly hasn’t been dominant in fact, according to my eye ball test he actually seems rather average, (profootballfocus has him rated at -2.8 this year). I know that he faces a lot of double teams and that the sample size is fairly small this year but is there any chance you could ask Coach Fisher or Coach Wauffle about Michael’s development, specifically, what areas he needs to improve on or ask Michael what his personal goals are for this year? To me, he needs to be a major contributor in order to make this defence great. Thanks Jim
by Mike 3:10 PMIt has not been a dominant start for anyone on the D-Line so far. Far from it, although Quinn has played, and Donald has had some good moments. But yeah, Brockers needs to do more. And we’ll keep an eye on him.
by jthomas 3:12 PMDid the Tampa Bay player get injured with 13 seconds left or was it 8. I was confused of what was happening.
by Harvey 3:12 PMThe clock was stopped with 8 seconds remaining.
by jthomas 3:12 PMI know it’s early but what are the chances of gimps Austin and Harkey playing Sunday?
by Pigskin 3:14 PMWill get a better idea on Wednesday _ first practice day of week.
by jthomas 3:15 PMDespite the fact that the ruling worked in the Rams favor, you hate to see a competitive game end on a run-off because of an unavoidable injury. Has the NFL ever considered granting each team 1 injury timeout, able to be used at the team’s discretion, but with strict stipulations?
by Tackleberry 3:15 PMThat’s an interesting concept. But I think the feeling is _ you have three timeouts, you better know how to use ’em. And the fact that you have a so-called “injury timeout” doesn’t change the fact that you can still manipulate the rules by faking an injury. In other words, use an injury timeout for something that isn’t an injury.
by jthomas 3:17 PMHow much concern should there be at this time with Robinson and Mason not really contributing on game day?
by Bob 3:17 PMTwo week in, I’d say concern. But not major concern at this point.
by jthomas 3:18 PMOdds that Davis starts Sunday? I think he earned the chance!
by Tom 3:18 PM60-40.
by jthomas 3:18 PMHi Jim, I appreciate the chats. My eye for offensive line play is not good enough to tell for myself, but everything I read/hear about Davin Joseph is that he’s not playing well. Is it time to plug in the number 2 overall pick in the draft and see what he can do?
by C 3:19 PMI haven’t been able to look at the coaches’ tape either game so far, which really gives you a better idea of line play. (I’ve been reduced to looking at the TV copy.) But I’m wondering about that myself. Again the deal with Robinson right now is not only the technique of pass-blocking but knowing who to take and who to pass off when pass-blocking.
by jthomas 3:22 PMAs the game went along against Tampa Bay, I thought the Rams O line started playing better. Was this because of all the injuries to the Bucs D line, faith in their QB, or are they starting to get in sync?
by Pigskin 3:23 PMI’m sure not having McCoy in the game helped. But I thought they were starting to get in sync a little bit. Remember, this group hardly played together during the preseason.
by jthomas 3:23 PMTo Tom’s earlier question, with all the resources dumped into that d-line over the past 4-years that unit should be worry free… especially after they overloaded it with Donald (conveniently ignoring other needs).
by Tackleberry 3:23 PMYou don’t draft for need over talent, especially in the first round. I think they felt Donald was too good to pass up.
by jthomas 3:24 PMWhy is Roger Saffold playing a 4th position on the O line when he was close to being a Pro Bowl RG last season. I thought Joseph was the “swing guard”. Seems like Saffold gets moved around all over. G Rob anytime soon?
by simdaddy 3:24 PMJoseph has played only right guard over his career. That’s why he wasn’t shifted over to left guard.
by jthomas 3:25 PMHow do you see the QB situation and how well Austin Davis this weekend. Though I don’t see him as a starter. I didn’t like Fisher’s answer that they didn’t want to hurt Bradford’s feelings to move up in the 5th round when they could’ve gotten A.J. McCarron, Aaron Murray or the person they should’ve drafted Zach Mettenberger.
by Harvey 3:27 PMI don’t recall ever hearing Fisher say he didn’t want to hurt Bradford’s feelings.
by jthomas 3:28 PMIs Fisher’s declaration of going back to the 63 year old Shaun Hill evidence of Fisher’s basic incompetence or of Fisher’s deal with Kronke to drive down fan interest so he can move? Those are your only choices. Thanks
by Jeff 3:28 PMOr he could truly believe that Hill still gives the Rams the best chance to win.
by jthomas 3:29 PMHow would you evalutate the QB situation. How do the Rams not know austin can play intil last sunday. they have been trying toi get rid of this kid for two years and al he did was win his first road start (first Rams QB since 2002)
by WackCity 3:29 PMAustin Davis didn’t play well enough in camp last year to make the club. I don’t know if he regressed, but he certainly didn’t progress. But he earned his way up the depth chart during training camp and his improvement was noticeable. If the Rams were trying to run him off, they wouldn’t have given him so much playing time this preseason.
by jthomas 3:31 PMPlease comment on the play of the Special Teams Sunday, who you thought played well and who didn’t.
by Pigskin 3:31 PMIt was puzzling to me that Greg Zuerlein tried so many of those squib-type kicks. The team needs to tighten up on kickoff coverage. But Hekker continues to punt well. Zuerlein made four kicks in less than ideal conditions because of the rain. And to block not one, but two kicks (one FG and one punt _ both by T.J. McDonald.) that makes it a very good day for the unit.
by jthomas 3:33 PMWhat is the status of Lamarcus Joyner. Will he play Sunday?
by Pigskin 3:35 PMWe’ll get an idea Wednesday. Don’t think it’s a serious injury, because he did some stuff in last Wednesday’s practice.
by jthomas 3:36 PMPass def is 5th because run def is 30th.
by WackCity 3:36 PMWell, there’s some truth to that, because teams have been running so well against the Rams. But I think the coverage generally has been tighter and the tackling better in the secondary. The acid test comes in the next two games against Romo and Foles.
by jthomas 3:37 PMDoes it not make more sense to start Davis again this week and give Hill 2 weeks more to rest quad? he is 34
by simdaddy 3:37 PMYes.
by jthomas 3:37 PMHi Jim, your take on Gaines performance so far ?
by johnny 3:38 PMHe certainly looks like he belongs. Vincent Jackson got him on a couple of catches last week, but Gaines is almost always in position, is a good tackler, and shows maturity beyond his years and experience in these first two games.
by jthomas 3:39 PMAfter last weeks game it appears that our defense is having a hard time tackling and stopping the run. Do you think that we can fix that before facing dallas
by Thaiboxxer 3:40 PMThey better, because if Bobby Rainey can get 144 against them, DeMarco Murray could get. . . . by jthomas 3:40 PM
In retrospect, should we have drafted Jake Matthews? Somehow we seem to have problems getting our high offensive draft picks onto the field.
by Tom 3:40 PMI would’ve taken Matthews, although I believe Matthews missed Sunday’s game against Atlanta with an ankle injury.
by jthomas 3:41 PMHas Roberson been active yet and if so has he played at all?
by jay 3:41 PMRoberson played 10 snaps on special teams versus Tampa Bay and 11 plays on special teams vs. Minnesota. He has yet to play on defense.
by jthomas 3:42 PMIf Davis plays well this week and the Rams win, do you see Fisher going back to Hill after the bye?
by jay 3:42 PMIf you can believe what Fisher’s saying _ I’d say yeah if HIll’s healthy.
by jthomas 3:43 PMHow long does a take a defense to learn a new scheme? Any chance our defenders are still learning Greg Williams’ plays, or are we going to get more of what we’ve seen so far this year?
by Mike 3:44 PMI guess there’s a little of that going on, but this is a carryover to a large degree from what the team did in 2012 with Gregg’s son Blake. So it shouldn’t be that huge of an adjustment.
by jthomas 3:45 PMHey Jim! Thanks again for these chats….ok so to go a little crazy over a qb….. an NFL.com article came out with Heisman prospects after three games (yes crazy early) and I was shocked not to see Maty Mauk on the list, who has thrown for 12 TDs already…. think he has a shot if Mizzou keeps it up?
by Danny 3:45 PMIf he keeps throwing 4 TDs a game, he’ll work his way into the Heisman picture.
by jthomas 3:46 PMJim, the entire Austin/Hill argument seems foolish – doesn’t the running game and the defense really control the Rams’ season?
by ActionJackson39 3:46 PMWell, you can’t do it without at least functional play with a minimum of mistakes at QB. But I think your overall point is right on target. The biggest issues on the team right now are: 1.) run defense, and 2.) running game.
by jthomas 3:47 PMOver or under 200 yards for Murray this Sunday?
by Boon 3:47 PMI’ll say under, keeping in mind that 150 yards rushing is still a great day for a running back.
by jthomas 3:48 PM“Cowboys ran 43 times for 220 yards in their 26-10 win at Tennessee on Sunday” not a good sign 🙁
by ArchSadness 3:48 PMNo, it’s not.
by jthomas 3:48 PMJust curious if you’ve had any questions regarding Austin Davis starting the rest of the year and being our savior, Robinson being a bust, and Tavon being used more creatively… (I kid, I kid)
by ky kid 3:49 PMYou’re the first to mention any of this.
by jthomas 3:49 PMHow is it that the Rams can hold AP to 75 yards but Rainey pounds out 144. With DeMarco Murray up next, what can we expect? I think if you took a poll on how effective our new DC has been he wouldn’t be rated very highly and he has most higher rated draft picks versus our aged banged up OL.
by Pigskin 3:51 PMHead scratcher isn’t it? As for Williams, yeah, not a tremendous start out of the box.
by jthomas 3:51 PMHow is the rams’ sixth round pick is starting and excelling while the second overall pick and a third round pick can’t find any playing time?
by Boon 3:51 PMSometimes it works that way. I think a lot of people thought Gaines was under-drafted.
by jthomas 3:52 PMJim, thoughts on the play of the secondary? I think it has been very good, the front 7 seems to be hurting the defense and not the secondary.
by ActionJackson39 3:52 PMThrough 2 games, it’s flipped on us. The secondary has played better than expected. The front seven has played worse than expected.
by jthomas 3:53 PMJim, this looks like it will be a team that needs to win close games. It comes down to turnovers and special teams. I feel Davis did a good job of controlling the offense. And Brian Quick is finally looking like a reciever.
by Len 3:53 PMAgreed.
by jthomas 3:53 PMJim, thanks for doing a great job as usual. It’s still early but I am really getting the sinking feeling Snead and Fish didn’t max out the RG3 trade. Do you think they 1) missed on their talent evaluations in the draft or 2) cannot develop the players?
properly.
by MCinDC 3:53 PMWell, they missed on Pead in the second round. But it’ll take another year or two to get a true read. As I’ve mentioned before _ It’s time for some of these younger guys to break out _ as Quick is on the road to doing.
by jthomas 3:55 PMJim, why do the Rams use very few screens? Seems like we should use it to our advantage since teams seem to be getting a lot of pressure on our QB’s.
by jr 3:55 PMI would like to see more screens. But the Rams don’t seem to block them very well, at least not at this point.
by jthomas 3:55 PMHi jim we will never stop the run with a mlb who cant get off blocks an with a 5.4 speed he should have been in the middle to prevent the catch by Evans tru of false
by Star Stream 3:56 PMFalse. I think Laurinaitis played pretty well Sunday. Did you see his pressure on McCown that led to that key interception? Huge play.
by jthomas 3:57 PMGiven the run game has been stifled, does Tre Mason get an opportunity? Why has he been given the Pead treatment?
by KC Ramsfan 3:57 PMNeeds to learn how to pass block.
by jthomas 3:57 PMI thought davis did a great job spreading the ball out. Why has Britt been limited to 1 catch so far?
by Cousin Vinny 4:02 PMI thought he’d be more involved and I think the team wants him to be more involved. I think teams are paying more attention to Britt coverage-wise, and also Quick has consistently been getting open. If Quick keeps getting 7 catches a game, teams will start paying more attention to him, which could result in more opportunities for Britt.
by jthomas 4:04 PMHow can shotty take so much heat when dealing with a 3rd string QB
by Boon 4:04 PMBy the end of this season, he will have had his starting QB on the field for 7 of 32 games. Overall, play-callers always seem to take a lot of heat. I can remember Mike Martz getting criticized for throwing too much, throwing too deep, not having enough balance in his offense..
by jthomas 4:07 PMJim, with Conrath now cut I’m surprised the Rams are only carrying 8 DL and Bailey, when reinstated will be the 6th WR. Your thoughts..Thanks.
by JoeRamfam 4:09 PMEight defensive linemen and six wide receivers is pretty much the norm in the NFL.
by jthomas 4:10 PMI’ve see a different janoris jenkins on the field this year. what has changed?
by Coach 4:10 PMI’m not saying he’s Night Train Lane, but he does seem to be playing with more discipline.
by jthomas 4:11 PMIf the rams leave town would you consider a job as a columnist for obscure sports quarterly and possibly and on air analyst for espn 8 the ocho?
by Boon 4:13 PMI think I’ll return to covering high school football.
by jthomas 4:13 PMdoes Stan ever go to road games?
by kman 4:19 PMYes
