InvaderRamModeratori remember seeing this before but didn’t think anything of it. i haven’t seen anything here about it. but i realized he was a first round pick last year. measurables are great. played with curl last year.

Or, it was. I moved it all here

The @RamsNFL have claimed CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr. off waivers from the CommandersRams Bros.@RamsBrothers
It’s not often you get to claim a 23-year-old CB who was the 16th pick in the draft only a year ago. Only played in 6 games this season but hopeful a change of scenery does him good with the

Sean McVay said the Rams had a good evaluation on Emmanuel Forbes coming out of college. He’ll reunite with Kam Curl; Charles Woods was waived.December 5, 2024 at 12:48 pm #153675

Sean McVay indicated it’s unlikely recently-acquired CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr. makes his Rams debut Sunday vs. Bills. They don’t want to rush Forbes, make sure they take their time getting him acclimated.

InvaderRamModeratori like the move. he needs to bulk up. but athletically he’s as good as it gets numbers-wise. maybe another les snead under the radar pickup that pays off down the road.
and if it doesn’t work out, you haven’t really lost anything.

Yeah, I’m pessimistic about this. I’m sure WASH also knew he needs to “bulk up,” and has enough knowledge around the building to work on that with him. My guess is the dude is just scrawny, and will never be an NFL player. But I’d be happy to be wrong.
In any event, it only cost them…{checks notes}…Charles Woods?

And not even that. Woods was signed to the practice squad.

wvParticipantWait a minute — they signed the 16th pick in last years draft?
How did ‘that’ happen? Is he a head-case or what?

i would also add that goff had similar problems coming out of college and it took him a couple years to start filling out.
and yeah you’d figure washington should have access to the same knowledge on how to bulk him up, but with the regime change maybe they just ran out of patience.
regardless the team gave up almost nothing to claim him off waivers.

And the Rams training staff has their experience with JG to draw on.
If in fact this guy has similar issues.
Here is the draft analysis by a Washington writer from when he was picked.
Forbes is a ballhawk with six pick-6s last year. He intercepted 14 passes at Mississippi State. Forbes was durable over three seasons, tackles well and runs fast. Who doesn’t want a corner with those traits?
If Forbes was 186 pounds, it would be a solid pick. But, he’s not and that leaves some doubt. The NFL is a big-boy league and 17 games wear players down. That last month is played on grit and duct tape. Players are often down 5 to 10 pounds from the season’s start.
Surely, Washington will put Forbes on a special diet with supplements to bulk him up the best he can. But, Forbes is just naturally skinny
