Les Snead indicated that the Rams will absolutely “take advantage of opportunities that present themselves, not necessarily reach” in exploring roster adds through spring and summer. So no, they’re not done. Snead also added that comp pick formula important to build, but
they won’t cement themselves to it each time if the right player is available. “Stay agile, always.” Reminder, roster add could also come via trade opportunity.

Snead says that contract discussions with Aaron Donald’s camp are ongoing. Adds they’re trying to get to a “win-win” situation there.

Another scenario where multiple things again true. Snead indicated Donald has articulated he wants to return. At the same time, it’s clear there is contract work to do and have reported ad nauseam Rams have/are exploring what’s possible in adding another pass-rusher, motivated

in part by the success they saw – not just statistically but in ease and added complexity of the rush itself! – when they added Miller to Donald and Floyd and what that did for Donald to personally reach an extra level. Wouldn’t think latter is deal-breaker but still important.

I think this is an important point. There is a lot of talk about how Donald makes everybody else better – Fowler, Lloyd, Gaines, Miller – but it’s not pointed out as often how much better Miller made Donald.

Miller created the tipping point in the front 7. His play also loosened up what Donald faced.

And I mean…that synergy affected the Bengals’ game plan. They abandoned the 7-step drop (which is the strength of their offense) before the game even started. They knew they couldn’t do it.

Donald’s devastating run through the playoffs was certainly about how great AD is. But it’s also a credit to Miller. And the Rams are wise to try to find a guy for that role.

Side note: personally, I’m not convinced Wagner is that guy. I lack the imagination to see how Wagner might help. He’s a great player, and he would probably contribute in some way, but I don’t know if he would create the overload in the pass rush that Miller did. I wonder if Clowney might be a better fit. I hasten to add that I have no knowledge of Clowney or Wagner outside of their reputations. I’ve seen Wagner play a few times, and Clowney once or twice, maybe, but I don’t know anything about them, not really. But I saw what another quality Edge rusher did for the Rams, so that’s what I’m hoping for.

I think one of the most depressing parts of being a Seahawks fan over the past month has been watching fans assassinate Wilson’s character (after being traded) while simultaneously begging the team to trade for Watson.

The Rams have drafted 16 players that have wound up in the HOF; 4 Edge rushers, 4 WRs, 2 QBs, 2 OTs, 2 RBs, 1 DT & 1 OG. Will be 17 after Donald gets in. Henry Ellard, Torry Holt, Eddie Meador, Isiah Robertson, Charlie Cowan, Steven Jackson & Roman Gabriel should all be there too

yeah. the only reason i want bobby wagner is cuz he’s bobby wagner. just the name. i don’t know that much about his actual game.

not exactly sure how he’d fit in… i do suspect without any concrete evidence that he’d have a similar effect to weddle. or on the offensive side woods. but the added effect of being just a better caliber player. but i think he adds those leadership qualities and intelligence that we would read about weddle. the main difference being that wagner is younger and not coming out of retirement and trying to shake the rust off in the middle of a playoff run.

but yeah. von miller leaving just created a domino effect. it’s gonna be hard to replace him. that pass rush looked totally different with him in it.

Re. video of Matthew Stafford on IG with left arm/wrist in a brace (non-throwing), he got an anti-inflammatory shot in his elbow and the intent of the brace is to limit range of motion while the shot does its thing, sources said.

#Rams just won the SB, have young players ready to step into larger roles, nucleus largely intact, good depth in draft in areas they need to fortify heading into 2022, yet all the big bold predictions about everyone else BUT them. Makes perfect sense.

Well…I guess the Bengals could have made adjustments, and yada, yada, but that’s basically the way the game was going until OBJ went down. That’s for sure. I’ve said it before, but I think the Rams would have steamrolled the Bengals with OBJ.

Sean McVay says current priorities are still getting Aaron Donald’s contract done and dialogue is open between team and Cooper Kupp’s reps on extension/restructure.

Rams coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead will receive contract extensions, COO Kevin Demoff said

Extending Donald, Kupp, and Stafford not only costs cap space, it directly costs upfront money in bonuses. Same with signing Allen Robinson, plus signing Noteboom and Allen.

Direct upfront money in bonuses means cash flow. Yes ultimately the cap comes out of league and team earned revenue, but bonuses mean that the cash has to be there now.

Add extending McVay and Snead. That doesn’t come out of the cap (ie. out of revenue). That’s out of pocket money.

Add all that up (bonuses, coach and GM extensions) and it means Kroenke is throwing money around. His own money. It’s not league and/or team revenue (which is what funds the cap). That’s Kroenke digging into his own pockets. On a different note, but added to this list, when you throw money at UDFAs, that too is the team (ie. Kroenke) stepping up to the plate. Rams are very aggressive with UDFAs and that bit gets added to this list of “purely out of the pocket” team spending.

There are some things about Kroenke I am not all in on.

But when it comes to spending for the team, he steps up.  As a Rams fan, you have to respect that IMO.

i agree that obj was on his way to winning super bowl mvp.

but i wanna pose this question…

how would obj have done if kupp was injured in that game?  with van not playing particularly well.  and hopkins having to fill in at tight end.  we know how kupp would do with his teammates dropping all around him.

The juxtaposition of Stafford and Goff does catch the eye, doesn’t it?
