November 16, 2014 at 4:14 pm #11949PA RamParticipantI can’t remember when I enjoyed a Rams game so much.
Very solid football.
Rams D was everything I wanted them to be.
Hill was fantastic. Well managed.
Game balls all around.
That was fun!

Pie and cake for everyone.

November 16, 2014 at 4:16 pm #11952InvaderRamModeratoryeah. very decisive win. unlike previous wins this season.
November 16, 2014 at 4:18 pm #11953DakParticipantAnd, to think, my daughter predicted the Rams would win, and I just flat out told her, that’s nice, but no, the Broncos will win.
November 16, 2014 at 4:18 pm #11954sdramParticipantSweet!
November 16, 2014 at 4:24 pm #11958Eternal RamnationParticipantHill looked good but when you hold the Denver Broncos to 7pts everything starts to look better! Tre Mason busting out into triple digit yardage.Safety’s knocking people out of the game week after week.It looked to be a much improved OL Hill had plenty of time and made good decisions and showed toughness when GRob turned Ware loose for a vicious sack fumble he was fortunate the ball bounced right back to him

Robinson did have that one screw up but overall he played fantastic and I’ll take him over Jake Long.
I have no complaints with the line today–they gave Hill enough time and were able to run the ball.
This was a true team win.

November 16, 2014 at 4:30 pm #11961DakParticipantI still think part of the O-line looking better is Hill getting rid of the ball quickly. Being at home helped, too. A lot of times Austin Davis held onto the ball and left the pocket when he sensed pressure. It’s amazing what quicker decision-making can do for pass protection. There’s a reason that Peyton Manning has so few sacks over the years.

Yes I agree I was stunned by watching the D take over and dominate the game! The blown coverage on the td would have sent this team into a tail spin in weeks past. Now let’s see if they can win 2 in a row
November 16, 2014 at 4:40 pm #1196621DogParticipantWare was MIA until Robinson gave him a free path to Hill.
Miller, his early sack aside, wasn’t much of a factor in pass rush, either.

True that!
November 16, 2014 at 5:00 pm #11974InvaderRamModeratortime of possession was key. hill had a lot to do with that and keeping the d fresh. especially in the second half!
November 16, 2014 at 6:48 pm #11991znModeratorBest Rams win since….. ?
November 16, 2014 at 7:48 pm #11995TrenchRamParticipantIt looks like the “they’re just taking time to learn Williams’ system camp” was right. That was the defense that I was expecting to see this year. Hill appears – at least for now – to make the O respectable. That schedule doesn’t look nearly as daunting to me now as it did a couple weeks ago.
November 16, 2014 at 9:19 pm #12012JackPMillerParticipantMy power was out all day, and when it comes back on, I noticed we shocked Denver. Jeesh. Now lets hope we don’t have a let down against San Diego. I wish I would have seen the game.
November 16, 2014 at 11:10 pm #12021DakParticipantBest Rams win since….. ?
That’s a good question. It depends on what happens next. Do the Rams take this win and build on it? If they do, it’s the most important win they’ve had since the GSOT days, probably.
November 16, 2014 at 11:50 pm #12024HramParticipantHow the heck did that happen!!??
Peyton Manning was on the other team. Wow.
Cool! 🙂
November 17, 2014 at 12:56 pm #12048joemadParticipanttime of possession was key. hill had a lot to do with that and keeping the d fresh. especially in the second half!
absolutely,
patience from the OC on running the ball….Tre Mason: 29 carries for 113 yards.
Denver only had 29 total rushing yards.
November 17, 2014 at 5:39 pm #12072GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI doubt very much the Rams will win 6 games in a row. They have not demonstrated they can put back to back wins together yet. For them to go on a 6 game streak would be miraculous.
That being said there isn’t a game the rest of the way they could not win.
12 Nov 23 STL @ SD Qualcomm Stadium (Toughest game this season for a number of reasons. Mistake free football and the same formula that beat Denver gets a win in SD.)
13 Nov 30 OAK @ STL Edward Jones Dome (Do not take the Raiders lightly. They’ve been close to a win the last two games)
14 Dec 07 STL @ WAS FedExField (Rams have a tough time winning in DC)
15 Dec 11 ARI @ STL Edward Jones Dome (Should have beaten the Cardinals two weeks ago if Davis doesn’t self destruct)
16 Dec 21 NYG @ STL Edward Jones Dome (The G-men and Eli are horrible but they were in the game against the 49ers until the last minute on Sunday)
17 Dec 28 STL @ SEA CenturyLink Field (If the Rams can come into this game on a 6 game streak with this being game 7 I think they can win it)
Its do-able. Hold your breath and cross your fingers and your toes.
Grits
.November 17, 2014 at 7:46 pm #12081ZooeyModeratorEven if the Rams won six in a row, they probably would not make the playoffs, so I’m not indulging in that fantasy right now just because they put together one complete game against a good team.

Amen, Brother!
Watching the 1st Q, the difference we night and day. Hill was so FAST in his read and decision-making. The 2 long passes to Britt were released quickly! See and throw.
And as you say, suddenly the OL looks good!
But the receiving corps also looked like different people. Britt, of course. But consider Baily.
People were asking last week about what had happened to Bailey. This week, he makes about 3 tough, clutch catches. ‘Cause Hill saw him and brought him into play!

As I say elsewhere, I think this team SHOULD have a winning year.
9-7 won’t get the playoffs. But it would be a meaningful achievement. And with the schedule opening up for us, it is I think in reach.
Do it, guys.

Well. Okay. I dunno.
What I know is that we tend to think the team is terrible, and needs a complete teardown after disappointing losses, and think they’ve turned the corner into a powerhouse after a good win. And that every draft is filled with steals, and the combinations of playmakers on offense will make defenses sleepless at night. We get high; we get low.
If they lose to San Diego – especially if the defense has a couple of familiar breakdowns – we will be back to sizing up heads for the chopping block.
9-7 means winning five of the last 6 games. Those games include one against 8-1 Arizona, and games on the road in San Diego and Seattle.
So. I don’t think that’s very likely.
If they do it…yay!

Well, I’ve never been about that. This year at least.
I’ve said all year that the coaching staff is responsible for failing to get this team, especially the defense, ready for the year.
I think the performance against DEN supports that view. That bunch is too “good” to have stunk up the joint for half a season as they did. I see this last game as an indictment of Fisher’s staff.
And that’s the thing. This team had it EASILY in its hands to have been at least 6-4 right now. In which case everything would be on the table.
The COST of the horrendous start has been that playoffs are no longer on the table. Even if we go 5-1 and finish above .500 the rest of the way, that won’t change. We have already blown the year in that sense.
And BTW, I don’t really think we will go 5-1. I am saying that the team we saw SUN (or in my case this morning) SHOULD be able to do that.
But I doubt they will. I think they’ll go about 3-3 the rest of the way and finish in the mediocre range again. I do not trust this coaching staff. I still want heads to roll … though I know they won’t.
Still, I will always be delighted to be wrong and see the lads win games!
By virtue of the absurd ...
November 18, 2014 at 7:58 pm #12126ZooeyModeratorI agree with that mostly, rfl. They should be 6-4. Or even a game better than that.
And clearly it appears the defense is coming around. Should it continue to play well, I will more and more firmly gravitate to the ZN Hypothesis that the Williams scheme is difficult like the McDaniels scheme was for the offense. That it just took more time to get the scheme in place than they had. In which case, we might all wish they had gone about it somehow differently that would have resulted in fewer breakdowns, but will be happy that they have finally caught on to the defense. And maybe that isn’t really their fault.
We did Les Miserables last year, and it was an enormous undertaking to get everybody ready for that. We knew it would take more time than we had. So we started 6 weeks earlier on the production, and 4 weeks earlier on rehearsals than we usually do.
That can’t happen with the players’ union.
I dunno.
All I know is that I am starting to see the defense I was expecting to see, and that’s good. This year is shot in terms of the playoffs, and that’s bad. But there is reasonable hope for some entertainment the rest of the way, and that’s what football is.
And next year, we can get all sky high about the draft picks, and the “year under the belt,” and the return of Bradford, and the development of the young ‘uns….
