A poll of 50 NFL executives, coaches, players and scouts reveals that Ramsey is still held in high regard…. ESPN conducted the poll and Ramsey came in at No. 2 based on an average of the votes received, with his highest ranking being No. 1 and his lowest No. 7.
One NFL defensive coach said, “After one year in L.A. he’ll be No. 1,” which is a testament to how much he’ll benefit from a change of scenery and a full season with the Rams. A veteran quarterback wasn’t as effusive with his praise, however, calling Ramsey “the Amari Cooper of corners” – and that’s not necessarily a compliment.
“There are some inconsistencies you see on tape with footwork or freelancing a bit,” the quarterback said. “But he’s too talented not to put it all together this year.”
Last season, Ramsey had nothing but great things to say about Cooper. He called him “one of the most underrated receivers in the league.”
“If you actually turn on the film and look at it, he was eating me up all game long – especially on the line with his releases,” Ramsey said. And based on Ramsey’s comments, it’s likely he’ll take the Cooper comparison as a compliment.
The highest remark Ramsey received was an offensive coach saying “he scares you on the game plan more than just about anyone,” adding that he’s “a one-of-a-kind” type of player.

Here's what NFL WRs say makes Jalen Ramsey a great corner…
Chargers WR Keenan Allen
“Absolutely irreplaceable. You can’t replace good talent. Not a lot of DBs are that tall and that fast. And he’s going to talk to you, and he’s cocky. You better be on your A-game because if you’re not, he’s going to let you know about it and he’s going to make plays,” Allen said.Jaguars WR D.J. Chark
“Anywhere you’re at on the field, he’s somewhere near ball-hawking,” Chark said. “He can sit at a depth and react quickly. You know you have to be physical at the catch because as soon as you catch it, you know a big corner is running through you. If you beat him at the line, the play is never over, so always have a Plan B.”Bears WR Allen Robinson
“He always plays with confidence. I think that’s the biggest thing. Even if you catch a ball or beat him one play, he’s always looking to make a play,” Robinson said. “I think he’s one of those corners who isn’t just trying to get. I mean, he’s not just trying to be in the right spot. He’s trying to make a play, he’s trying to do something to impact the game.”August 5, 2020 at 10:06 am #118878znModeratorThe Rams have big plans for Jalen Ramsey. from the above
He and defensive coordinator Brandon Staley have hinted at a brand new role for the three-time Pro Bowler, and this week, Ramsey shared further details about what position he’ll play.
“I don’t really have like an exact, exact role on the defense yet,” he said on a conference call Tuesday. “I’ll be doing a bunch of different things so there’s not really somebody that I can talk to that’s like, ‘Oh, you did this and this and this…’ because nobody’s done what I’ll be asked to do or what I’m going to try to do on this defense. I might have to take this journey kind of by myself and with my teammates and with the coaches and see where we can take it.”

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey isn’t thrilled with repeated questions about when his contract extension will get done, but it might be trickier than normal. The Rams need to pay Ramsey, one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks, after trading a lot for him. But a drop in revenue and its ramifications to the salary cap going forward make a record-setting deal complicated.

Donald, for one, has high expectations for himself and Ramsey, specifically saying the three-time Pro Bowl cornerback is in for a big year.
“A big season, a huge season,” Donald said on a conference call of what Ramsey is in for in 2020. “We are on the same team, so I hope it’s a real big season. Knowing what type of player he is, I am pretty sure he prepared himself and got himself ready to be at this point right now. Him having a full season with the team and getting a feel for the guys, being around all the guys and him being a leader. I am definitely expecting huge things from him this year. I am excited that we are on the same team.”

On Ramsey
…
Sean McVay was gushing with praise for the All-Pro cornerback and his impact on the defense.
“He’s been outstanding. I mean, you talk about him really raising his game. I thought I had an appreciation for the way that he played and just watching him from afar, but now really getting a glimpse and with the amount of competitive work we’re getting in these training camp settings — he’s even better than I thought,” McVay said. “He’s had a dominant training camp. He’s making a lot of plays. We’re able to do a lot of different things with his versatility, his intelligence and he’s earning the right to say that he’s one of the best at his position the way that this camp has gone, for sure. He’s a special player. We’re very fortunate to have him.”
…
Staley can’t wait to see how Ramsey plays with a full Rams offseason under his belt, especially with John Johnson giving him support over the top at safety.
“He’s a very, very bright football player and I think that’s something that people do not talk enough about him,” Staley said recently. “They talk about his physical gifts, which are obvious, but they don’t talk enough about his mind, the way he thinks, and I think that we’re really lucky to have him that way. I see him as the quarterback back there in the secondary, a guy that can help solve a lot of problems. He and John Johnson, to me – a lot of people talk about Jalen, rightfully so, and I think this guy’s going to play incredible football for us, incredible football. But, he and John Johnson, you can’t ask for two better guys back there quarterbacking your secondary.”

i can only imagine what they mean by this statement.
i mean. is he going to be playing some kind of cb/s/lb hybrid? use him as a blitzer. a run stopper. coverage. lockdown corner.
a role that’s never been seen before? i’m intrigued.

Mike Sando
https://theathletic.com/2071609/2020/09/17/execs-unfiltered-who-are-the-nfls-top-cornerbacks/
There are still some very good corners in the current game, but when coaches and evaluators are asked to list the top ones today, they do not always rattle off five or six names in a rigid order they feel strongly about. It is only when we apply a logical framework to the evaluation that a clearer picture materializes. That’s what we’ve done below while giving NFL coaches and evaluators their say on the best cornerbacks in 2020.
The first group includes players who transcend scheme with the physical ability to do it all, and a track record of playing at an elite level.
1. Jalen Ramsey, Los Angeles Rams
Age: 25
Size: 6-1, 208
Speed: 4.41Nearly all the coaches and evaluators polled thought Ramsey was, on his best day, the top corner in the league. Most think there will be more of those days in the future. They thought Ramsey appeared uninterested during his final weeks in Jacksonville, but they were not rating Ramsey off 2019 alone.
“Ramsey is one of the guys I fear going against because he can play man, he can play zone, he is physical in all aspects and I feel like he is one of the smarter players in the NFL, especially when he’s really into it,” an offensive coordinator said. “Go back a couple years ago when they were playing in Dallas. He hit Ezekiel Elliott harder than any DB I have ever seen — stood him up in the hole. My respect level for that guy is so high.”
Ramsey entered the NFL as the fifth overall pick in the 2016 draft. He was one of four corners to play at least 3,000 defensive snaps over the 2016-18 seasons.
“He can do it all at the corner spot,” a personnel director said. “I like the aggressiveness. My only reservations on him have nothing to do with football. He is a guy you can trust to lock up one side and say, ‘OK, I need you to shadow this guy, I need you to press this guy.’ He is willing to challenge at the line of scrimmage. You don’t worry about him cowering or backing off. You know you will get a honest day’s work from him every time.”
A personnel director who ranked Ramsey No. 1 at the position said Ramsey does sometimes coast when he is not challenged.
“He is big, he is long, he can play press, he can play man, he can change direction, he’s got speed and he understands the game,” a former head coach said. “The biggest thing he’s got going for him is he’s really long. Long arms, he’s a big kid, hard to get off of, good in press.”
