znModeratorThe 19th century saw the birth of the most popular breakfast item: cereal. American entrepreneurs like Sylvester Graham developed breakfast cereals to provide a healthy food. Some took it even further – John Kellogg developed corn flakes as a bland food to curb people’s sexual impulses.

znModeratorin the mid-1980s, an intoxicated Mick Jagger phoned Charlie Watts’ hotel room in the middle of the night asking “Where’s my drummer?”. Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: “Don’t ever call me your drummer again. You’re my fucking singer!”

znModeratorThe word “sarcasm” can be traced back to a word meaning “to tear flesh like a dog.”
We’ve heard of “biting sarcasm” and when you’re hit with a rather vicious remark, it can certainly feel like it draws blood. That’s why it seems fitting that the origin of the word “sarcasm” is rather ferocious. According to Merriam-Webster, “sarcasm” can be traced back to the Greek verb “sarkazein,” which initially meant “to tear flesh like a dog.”July 5, 2020 at 12:51 pm #117600

A man with severe OCD and a phobia of germs attempted to commit suicide with a gun to his head. Instead of killing him, the bullet eliminated his mental illness without any other damage. The afflicted man, now a straight-A college student, tried to kill himself five years ago, when he was 19 years old, said Dr. Leslie Solyom, a psychiatrist at Shaughnessy Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. The man, identified only as George, washed his hands hundreds of times a day and took frequent showers, Dr. Solyom said. The behavior had forced him to drop out of school and quit his job.

znModeratorso is he trying to say predators are bad?
Not that I saw.
To me, he was just pointing to an evolutionary difference caused by the environment, which in this case is just the presence or absence of predators.
I don’t think any judgments were made, it’s just funny to see the difference.
