Bottom line is they outplayed us.
Credit to them. Need to work on that defense!

vIt’s hard to say what they were. It didn’t look “flat,” they just looked outplayed.
September 29, 2019 at 9:06 pm #105943HramParticipantI agree with ZN.
Tampa came to play.
Their front 7 also played well.
Goff did miss a couple TDs, but the bottom line is they just outplayed us.
September 29, 2019 at 9:36 pm #105947JackPMillerParticipantWe sucked. We lost to a bad football team, and it is embarrassing. I hope this is a wake up call. We better play better than this on Thursday.
September 29, 2019 at 10:46 pm #105953Billy_TParticipantI went to a sports bar to watch most of the game. Wish I hadn’t. Though there were a couple points in the game that brought me some joy. The joy quickly ebbed away, though, after this or that interception, missed tackle, missed block, etc. etc.
I may end up trying to get the Sunday Ticket earlier than I had planned — hoping to save money suspending the service a bit longer, etc.
In a nutshell, the Rams embarrassed themselves. That might have been their worst defensive performance in ten years. Can’t remember the last time they tackled so poorly. Just atrocious. And Goff was like a rookie again, flailing away, though his line gave him little help. Poor performance on the line is going to lead most QBs into major errors. But I think a lot of that still falls on Goff. And the coaches. And the staff. etc.
Trap game? Were they looking past the Bucs to Seattle? I have no idea. But they better get a handle on this and soon, or they’re not even going to reach the playoffs. Yes, they have great talent . . . perhaps top three in the league overall. But sloppy play can negate that against most teams, and the Bucs were hungrier this Sunday.
Anyone else think the guy who speared Peters in the endzone should have been flagged, fined and thrown out of the game for that?
Players Only meetings are warranted, regardless.

September 29, 2019 at 11:20 pm #105957InvaderRamModeratorthings i keep repeating to myself.
gurley will get better as the season goes on. gurley will get better as the season goes on.
goff will get better as the season goes on. goff will get better as the season goes on.
the defense is not as bad as they looked today. the defense is not as bad as they looked today.
seriously though. i thought everett looked good today. they really should find ways to get him the ball more often.
as far as goff. yes, he’s dealing with an oline that is struggling. that only explains so much. he’s just a little off on his accuracy. maybe some of that is having to deal with the pressure. sure. but some of it is him as well. but i think he’ll get better. he’s a tough kid.
as it is. he’s third in passing yards. so that’s something. his accuracy isn’t the worst. he’s only ranked 20th in passing accuracy, but i seriously doubt some of these guys can keep up their percentages over an entire season. he’s 22nd in ypa. again. not sure all the guys above him can maintain their averages. and i think that his ypa will go up at some point. i hope. his main problem is not throwing enough tds and throwing too many ints.
gurley is on pace for 1124 yards from scrimmage. i figured he’d finish the season with 1700 yards from scrimmage. he’s got 3/4 of a season left to get 1419 yards. even if he got 1219 yards, he’d finish with 1500 yards from scrimmage which i think is totally doable. especially if the oline continues to jell.
September 29, 2019 at 11:38 pm #105958Eternal RamnationParticipantThey weren’t present and the team play that sets them apart was missing today . Missing tackles missing blocks missing wide open td throws dropping accurate passes missing assignments basically mia today. Tampa came to play and and I’m sure Arians had over a year to prepare for his next game against McVay’s Rams. Remember the beating he took in London? Throw in a division rivalry in 4 days and this one was on the way imo if not today soon. We’re just not a 4-0 team at the moment but we are much better than we showed today.

1. Can’t win if you turn the ball over 4 times.
2. I’m fairly confident that won’t happen all that often.
3. Again and again it’s demonstrated how important O-line cohesion is and how it correlates to gaining rhythm on offense. That’s my primary concern right now. That shit wrecks QB confidence, trust, and internal clocks.
Did McVay get schooled? I didn’t really see it that way. I saw Phillips gets schooled, but you don’t put up 40 points in the face of 4 turnovers and get schooled. You will, however, look mortal if your offense has to make up for the Bucs scoring three touchdowns with their first four possessions and then matching every score you make with another one of their own afterward. Yeah, let’s just run 30 more times and get a few more 3&outs while the defense continues to let the opposition set a Franchise record in points scored.
Is McVay blameless? Of course not. I think he went into panic mode when down by 3 scores early, but honestly? I would have done the same thing. If we were able to keep the score close, the run game would have made more than just a cameo, IMO.
The o-line was awful, but that’s what happens when you have new combinations and new bodies trying to work together and communicate without enough time to do so. That’s why the RBs were in pass-block mode so often. They weren’t really reeling off chunks of yards on the ground anyway.
The defense? lol. Good job taking away Mike Evans, but there are more players on that team than just Mike Evans. And if you’re not getting home with 4, then maybe try 5. Or 6. Or 7. But credit where it’s due. Their O-line held their own all game against a pretty damn good pass rushing team.
Goff had a productive (and bad) day. Can’t put your defense in a hole like that – and that many times – and expect to employ a balanced attack. Particularly if you’re going to give the opponent so many short field situations to feast upon.
September 30, 2019 at 10:04 am #105981joemadParticipantI was at this game yesterday….
I thought that the rams were going to pull this game off with a win
Goff is getting blamed for everything and missed 2 sure TDS…But:
The Ram defense made Famous Jamis look great yesterday
The TD bomb to a wide Evans earlier in the 4th caused a grand fan exodus from the stadium
62% 3rd down conversion rate for TB
Arians is a good coach… he exposed the middle of the rams Pass defense all day Bucs had WR’s wide open in the middle field all day….
Once again Rams gave up on run way too early…
Back to Back NFC West opponents the next 2 games
Loser of this Thursday’s game will be in 3rd place…
McVay and the Rams need to plan and execute running the ball….
September 30, 2019 at 10:06 am #105982nittany ramModeratorWell, this is what the Rams offense is going to look like until:
1. The o-line solidifies.
2. Goff calms down. I never believed he was a system QB but he’s seen the same defense for 5 straight games and still looks confused.September 30, 2019 at 12:05 pm #105988wvParticipantI looked at the gamebook stats. Interesting that a team scored over 50 points, and only rushed for 88 total yards, with a 2.9 yard average rush.
Bucs only had two sacks, I see. Rams had two as well.
Peculiar game. Sometimes blowouts have weird stats.
Bucs have to be pleased they just kept answering the Rams scores, with scores of their own.
But the Rams also have to be pleased they kept com’in. Coulda gone either way at the end. Makin up a 21 point deficit sez somethin. To pull within five in the second half and to be there at the end. Sez somethin about the fight in the Rams. They may be flawed but they are fighters. I like that. Possibly reminiscent of the Titan loss in 99.I guess the Bucs musta had a lot of ‘almost-sacks’ ?
I usually wait until four games are in the books, before i start sayin much about the team.
Big game comin up. Lets see what team shows up. A wild-cardish-team? An elite-top-five-team? A team with flaws but one that can improve? A team with fatal-flaws?
Green Bay has flaws. Looks like Dallas has flaws. Are the 49ers the team to beat this year in the NFC?
Lots of teams scratching and claw’in at each other this year in the NFC.A flawed-OLine is a fatal-flaw imho. Ask Russell Wilson.

My thoughts from sec 213
What started off as a beautiful day for football ended up a shocking wake up call for this team….. I don’t know if they were overlooking this team with Seattle coming up in a few days or just simply weren’t ready for that game.
GZ started things off with the opening kick off out of bounds to give the Bucs a free spot in the 40…. Bucs quickly took advantage by picking on Our secondary for a quick 7-0 lead.
It was pretty much all down hill from there as you all know.
Frustrating watching Godwin just eat up Talib all day and Wade never really adjusting or figuring out anything in that game. Winston looked comfortable all day long back there.
The defense let the home crowd down so many times yesterday on third down it became hard to watch.
Goff had that horrible pick early that was all on him, but my god the line has issues….The one guy I was worried about ended up ending our comeback as Shaq just blew right by Havs to get the strip sack. It wasn’t only him, the whole line had issues all day. Say what you want about Goff, but the kid battled all day in that game 517 yards passing with what seemed like constant pressure. I will watch the TV copy today to get a better picture of what was going on with that.
I will say the team at least showed some heart after getting smacked in the nose early with a 21-0 hole, they kept fighting to the end to make that a pretty damn exciting game in which I had no doubt the Rams were going to come back and win…. probably would have been the biggest comeback in recent history.
The game flow just didn’t call for a bunch of runs…..TB has the number one rush defense in NFL and like 29th pass defense – it was the right game script. If Goff just a had a little bit more protection yesterday, we probably would have won this game…..even after spotting them 21 point lead. Goff and McVay had some mistakes, not like it’s all on the o-line, but just a couple plays where protection would have led to points instead of turnovers.
Shaq Barrett was a one mad wrecking crew….the one guy I was worried about.

I was at a function as my oldest was home from college for something … so I couldn’t watch live, but I tracked the score.
I have a couple thongs to say before I start …
First, I can’t imagine the disgust y’all had to deal with watching that live.
Second, iI think it may have been the best thing that could have happened to our team for a number of reasons.
Third, it looked like we got 2 experienced coordinators (Arians and Bowles) on a day when they were totally ready for us, and a young team that was just starting to click after a hard loss. I’d expect Tampa Bay to threaten in the Southern division. I expect Carl Nassib (who should not have been drafted by a 3-4 team) to become a force on a Bowles’ defense. So, knowing I had time to prepare emotionally to watch it, I will likely have a different view of the game.
The Great
1) Offense finally got in rhythm. We had to be forced to come back from 21 down for it to happen … and it doesn’t mean I think the offense PLAYED well … they didn’t. But they got in rhythm.
2) Robert Woods block on the Kupp TD. He had to start sprinting before Kupp broke that first tackle, he just assumed he would. I don’t know what to say about that mindset except that it gives me chills when I see it on any team.
3) Sebastian Joseph Day won the spot IMO. He was putting his men on skates over and over.
The Good
4) Gurley looked full speed and full power for the first time.
5) Everett showing a bit of what everyone was saying from preseason.
6) I didn’t have to see Jared Goff’s deflated face. He kept firing.
7) Im assuming Reeder replaced Hager without an injury, I like that call.
8) GZ from 58. Guy is nuts.
9) Being legitimately still in it after such a poor defensive showing up until the last drive.
The Bad
10) Holy cow on the penalties.
11) Goff missing Everett on the front corner route.
12) Everett not being prepared to play defender and knock the ball away on the 3rd INT. Ball was tipped he could have just tackled the guy.
13) Noteboom missed quite a few blocks.
The Ugly
14) COVER CHRIS GODWIN. Have they not read the fantasy stuff on him? He’s more of a true threat than Evans.
15) Havenstein, buddy. This was literally the worst game of your career. From penalties to protection. Dude. Whatever you ate and listened to before the game … goes on the “does not fly” list, just in case. Burn the underwear and socks … never take that route to the stadium again.
16) The 4th down play. How do you let an A gap free rusher in on that? What was that?
17) Peters on the Evans TD. Dude.
