Michael Brockers – Tabbed by a number of posters as a Breakout Player of the Year candidate (including me), I never see him, hear his number called, or read anything about him by other posters.

Alec Ogletree – Well, last week he turned up, but not in the right place. He seems to have been missing all year long, and the Seattle game punctuated that. Is it learning a new scheme? If so, why hasn’t he learned it? Did the flashy plays from last year distract us from his general weakness, or has his performance actually got worse? Why?

SackCity – What? And where is Quinn?

Tavon Austin – Was falling on his butt during the punt on Sunday his best play of the year? This guy isn’t making me forget Az.

Stedman Bailey – I guess the Rams have a lot of competent WRs now, and some TEs who can catch, and Cunningham. Austin involves a lot of receivers every week, so maybe we have a committee here, but we all expected Bailey to have more production.

Zac Stacy – Probably has a lot of fantasy owners very confused right now. From nearly 1,000 yards in 12 games to spectator.

Greg Zeurlein – The most promising start I ever saw with a kicker. Zeurlein fever has left the building.

Sam Bradford – this was supposed to be his year. No production whatsoever.

    On the bright side…

The Tre Mason milk carton can be thrown out. He has been found.
    Ditto on Robinson
    Ditto on Brian Quick
    EJ Gaines
    Aaron OMG Donald
Bennie Cunningham is giving more than anticipated
Austin Davis is better than expected

    Jim Thomas @jthom1
Stedman Bailey named NFC special teams player of the week for his 90-yard return on the “Mountainer” decoy punt return.

I wouldnt have given it to Stedman. He did make a nice catch
but the run was pretty easy.
Ida given it to Hekker. I think Hekker’s pass was a thing of beauty. He hit
BC in stride with a perfect pass under incredible pressure.

Heck, I’da given it to Benny C.

The 75 yard KO return was clutch. Then, making the catch AND NOT FUMBLING IT (although he was pretty cavalier when he threw the ball down after he was down) on the fake punt was awesome. And oh, by the way, he caught a TD too.

Yeah, I could see giving it to Benny too.

    They should call the award
    the ” Massey Award” btw.

Brockers’ lack of improvement is the biggest disappointment for me. There are rumors that he’s got an ankle injury that’s hampering him which would explain his failure to emerge as a dominating DT but if that’s the case, then that means he’s had at least 2 ankle injuries in the last three seasons. Ankle injuries are hard enough for big men to overcome and if this ends up being a chronic issue with him then he may never live up to his potential.

Another thing you hear is that he lost weight to become more of a pass rusher. To me that would mean he was trying to fit into something WMs was asking of him. Well without the weight, he’s no pass rusher and is not the steady force he was, either.

So if it’s the weight, that could just be a one year thing.

I had not heard about Brockers being asked to lose weight. That sort of thing rarely works out and it wasn’t like Brockers was that overweight to begin with. He’s just a big man.

i think the defense started to think they’d already arrived. they gotta get their collective head out of their ass.

the rookie are the only ones on defense to impress. so far.

also. i suspect tavon will come through. he’s on pace for only 32 receptions this season, but he’s caught 80% of his targets.

they need to get him the ball more and on the move. or maybe he just isn’t developing as fast as they thought he would.
