You ‘seem’ to be saying none of the personnel decisions were blame-worthy. Yes? No? You seem to be saying they picked the right guys, but they were just young and inexperienced, and the older guys started showing some injuries/age.

Yeah I believe that. That’s my take. I think at least Edwards, NB, and Evans will be part of any future Rams
“fixed,” better OL. I don;t think those are bad personnel decisions at all.

btw, At about the 26 min mark, Vinny sez whitworth (and Havenstein) regressed this year. He dont think the problem is just the young guys.

He says both OTs regressed (and that Hav may not be 100% and was dealing with an injury). I agree that that is huge. How do you think this OL would have looked if from game 1 on, the 2 OTs were playing at their first-half-of-2018 level? I assume it would have been playing pretty well. I doubt we would be hearing this idea that 2 new young starters made the OL play out of sync.

For all the talk saying the young guys are bad, I kept wanting to say…but the ones who really let the offense down were the 2 experienced vets.

I hope the Rams don’t leap to the wrong conclusions in line-building and like many fans blame everything on the new starters. IMO that’s not a balanced or realistic analysis, and it also flies in the face of how good OLs are actually built throughout the NFL.

For example VB and RH talked about how the Vikings turned their OL around this year, which was absolutely miserable as a unit last year. A lot of it was just young guys developing.

Jared Goff has passed for 2,610 yards and 11 touchdowns, with 9 interceptions, this season. What can he improve? “Throw more completions. Get the ball in our guys’ hands and get rid of the ball, get rid of the ball. Be accurate, be on time, everything,” Goff said.

Remembering preseason, understand the need to keeping important players out of harms way, yet offensive line is an exception. 5 Bigs need to coordinate as 1, communication & feel are super important. Playing O-Line starters in preseason is a must to know what we got or don’t got.

Bobby Evans told me he’ll be at right tackle for the #Rams on Sunday.

Also, David Edwards told me he’ll be at right guard.

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
So there we go, with what looks like it will be a Rams OL of Whitworth, Corbett Blythe, Edwards and Evans.

    Lindsey Thiry@LindseyThiry
Sean McVay says the Rams are happy with their quarterbacks, and that he’ll stick to their normal policy of not sharing workout plans with the public, in reference to Colin Kaepernick’s scheduled workout.

When I asked J.B. Long for something encouraging, he recommended his interview with David Edwards. When I heard his pod, one thing became crystal clear. Edwards has not lost his faith in the O-Line. So it’s up to us Ramily not to lose faith in our boys. Horns up. Let’s go #Rams🐏

Rams unofficial depth chart today for offensive line:
    LT – Andrew Whitworth
    LG – Austin Corbett
    C – Austin Blythe
    RG – David Edwards
    RT – Rob Havenstein/Bobby Evans

Havenstein is out one, possibly two, weeks because of a meniscus injury.

Likely still TBD on RT fill in.

The Rams put Allen and Hager on IR today.

Sean McVay said on The Coach McVay Show last night that the Rams want to add someone who’s been on a roster recently. Sounds like they’ll most likely either A) claim someone off waivers or B) elevate someone from the practice squad.

McVay also said Brandin Cooks will practice this week, miss Sunday’s game, and if everything goes well, he’ll play in Week 12

Rams knew Jalen Ramsey came with unfiltered takes, but they didn’t exactly realize the level of trash he’d talk bring during games — “Your socks, your cleats. Whatever it is, he’s got a problem with it.” So far, they’re loving it.

Went back and watched the second half (since I sort of fell asleep last night) of Seahawks/49ers, and I’m not sure I’ve seen a game that better showed the value of dominant defensive linemen.

Both groups, back and forth, looked capable of taking over.

ME: looks like the Rams picked the wrong year to give up having a coherent OL.

So the whole Todd Gurley thing and how McVay answers questions about it…the narrative is very awkward. They won’t tell the truth, so they’re stuck in this coverup. Vinny [ie. VB] said Gurley doesn’t want it out that he has to be on a pitch count. And the Rams are respecting his wishes. That’s the reason why you won’t hear Gurley saying give me the damn ball. Gurley isn’t the shy type. So we’re stuck with this disingenuous narrative that comes off sounding ridiculous.

    NFL Update@MySportsUpdate
Saffold signed a 4-year, $44M deal with over $22M guaranteed in the offseason. #Titans fans have criticized his play.

Meanwhile, the #Rams desperately miss Saffold’s presence on their offensive line.

    𝒥𝒾𝓂 𝐸𝓋𝑒𝓇𝑒𝓉𝓉@Jim_Everett
We mentioned in the preseason that this @RamsNFL offensive line was an experiment. So bring in another test tube and try again. While we are figuring it out…lets really try not to get Goff and Gurley killed.

    Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
I’ve seen fans questioning Todd’s commitment after his comments last night about his usage. To those of you who are, replace your laziness with nuance.

Two things make it crystal clear that the #Rams and Todd Gurley are working through/managing an issue with his knee: His usage rate/patterns and the fact he hasn’t protested about those rates/patterns.

Austin Blythe will play center and Whitworth will play left tackle. Edwards likely to continue to play guard. Rams will be monitoring waiver wire, though they are 31st on list for claims after Super Bowl appearance.

Having said that the reason we lost this game is the oline play.

I dunno. Take away that score by the Pitt D and the Rams win 12-10.

PFF ReFocused: Pittsburgh Steelers 17, Los Angeles Rams 12
    https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-week-10-pff-refocused-pittsburgh-steelers-17-los-angeles-rams-12

    LOS ANGELES RAMS
The Rams’ best defensive play of the night came when Aaron Donald and Clay Matthews beat blocks quickly and sacked Rudolph for a safety. Steelers’ David DeCastro and Zach Banner never stood a chance.

Taylor Rapp made some impressive tackles for short gains in run support and tackled McDonald for a loss after his catch. Nickell Robey-Coleman punched the ball out of Washinton’s hands, and the ball was recovered by Cory Littleton.

Goff once again didn’t get much time to throw from his offensive line, who struggled mightily to block the Steelers in one-on-one situations and stunts. The game ended ironically with a clean pocket for Goff, who just made a poor decision as he threw an interception that sealed the win for Pittsburgh.

Cooper Kupp had a quiet night, and the Rams’ passing game sputtered to a halt as a result. Todd Gurley produced good yardage with a number of big holes, but the run game was not a common theme for the Rams tonight.
