    Sounds like a solid late-round pick.

    I like my linebackers to have ‘place’ names. Like London.

    “….went into granular detail about how Russian hackers stole and disseminated Democratic party emails, which were released at the perfect time to help boost the Trump campaign.”
    ————-

    Well, I am conflicted on this. I like reading the truth about the Democratic Party. So, on the one hand, I appreciate ANY group shedding light on what the Corporate-profit-over-people-Dems are up to. Its a public service. The russians should get a medal.

    On the other hand, sure, they preferred one Corporate-weasel (Trump) over the other more-anti-russian-corporate-weasel. So, yes they were playing favorites.

    I will refrain from my mantra about how small this ‘interference’ was compared to all the mega-interferences the US is responsible for….blah blah blah.

    Just my opinion.

    …is GrayWorm dead? I kinda hope so. Nevermuch liked his character. I just never bought into his
    great-warrior persona. He just doesn’t have the body for it. I think he’s miscast as a tough, battle-hardened warrior. Reminds me of the frail, skinny Klingons of the early tv-star-trek shows.

    If yer gonna cast a Warrior — cast someone with a warrior’s body.

    Are ALL the Dothraki dead?

    Any more ideas/thoughts/”informal votes”? etc?

    I think a lot is going on with this draft. I think it was a deep overall general draft and that means the Rams had a lot of things fall their way.

    ================

    Well, if it was a deep draft that also means other teams got good players. So, I dont know why you want other teams to get good players. Sounds like you hate the rams, to me.

    See, I thought the dragon fight was hard to follow. And it was difficult to tell what the outcome was. Immediately after the fight when John’s dragon sorta crash landed, they never showed it again. However, I’m pretty sure it’s ok. I assumed the Night King’s dragon was dead so I was surprised to see it wreaking havoc inside Winterfell later on.

    Apologies, Nittany, if I’m saying something here you already knew:

    The Night King reanimated all the dead, including his blue-flame dragon. That’s why he was able to wreak that havoc inside Winterfell later on.

    And part of me was just thinking, “Oh, come on!! Enough is enough!!” The fighting was close to too much even before the reanimation — as in, it’s kinda just too unfair for words, going up against an endless horde of zombies. Like, the Rams having to face the Patriots defense without an offensive line and shackles on Goff’s feet.

    The refs should have stepped in and flagged the Night King for unsportsman-like reanimations.

    ====================

    Ahhh. I also was confused about the nightking’s dragon showing up alive. So he got re-animated. Its all problematic isnt it. I mean, how many times can he reanimate things? Over and over again? Can he re-animate pieces of things? Fingers? Eyeballs?

    I agree on the “too unfair for words” feeling. There were times that was how i was feeling watching it. I dont know whether to give them credit for building that feeling or to criticize it. I guess its what they were goin for given the storyline. But it does raise questions about just how dark is ‘too dark’? Is there such a thing? Is there a limit?

    Well, invasive species are a problem. They displace native species even to the point of extinction.

    Just ask the North American mammoths, ground sloths, saber-toothed cats, etc.

    Episode 3 — spoilers.

    First off, I think they have wasted Tyrian and Verris (sp?)so far this season. Dinklage was the best part of this series and they are wasting his talents. And Verris might as well not even exist anymore. I think those are mistakes. Focusing on the Dragon queen, who has zero charisma and zero talent is a mistake, imho.

    The big battle scene was ok, but it was not as good as the battle of the bastards.

    The Dragon stuff was all good. The dragons at night, battling, were awesome. (I couldnt figure out what happened to John’s dragon? How many dragons are left?)

    I am in favor of Drogon sitting on the Iron Throne.

    Drogon is one of the dragons born in the Dothraki sea. Commanded by Daenerys Targaryen, he is named for her dead husband, Drogo.

    Drogon is believed to be the reincarnation of Balerion the Black Dread, but Daenerys decides to give him a new name for his new life.[1]

    The largest and most aggressive of Daenerys’s three dragons, Daenerys has problems reining him in.

    Drogon’s scales are black, his horns and spinal plates are blood red,and his eyes are smouldering red pits.[2] His teeth are black as well.[3][2] his flame is black fire shot with red and the wash of its heat can be felt thirty feet away. His wing flap sounds like the clap of thunder. He bleeds black blood.[2]

    As of A Dance with Dragons, Drogon’s wings stretch twenty feet from tip-to-tip, black as jet.[2]

    Well to me this all relates to the Marxian notion that Capitalism makes people stupid. I mean think about it — lots of these people are ‘doing their best’ to live inspiring lives and ‘give back’ and be ‘positive’ and all ‘that’ — in a system thats crushing them. So why dont they put two and two together? Cause they cant. Cause the system propagandized them 24 hours a day 7 days a week. So they simply ‘cant’ ‘see’ the box they are in. They dont have the conceptual tools. So they think inside the box. And vote for tweedle dee or tweedle dum, etc, etc, etc.

    The evil beauty of the system is that it makes itself invisible.

    Bread and circuses, anyone?

    “…On the phone with Rosen, Williams told him it looked like a deal would have to wait another day—if one were coming at all. “I’m fine,” Rosen said on the other end of the line. “It’s not like I’m some child soldier in Darfur. I’ve had it pretty good. I think it’s time I had some legitimate adversity handed to me.”

    “I try to put everything into perspective,” Rosen tells The MMQB. “If I’m bummed I’m getting traded by the Arizona Cardinals, I try to think I’m living in an awesome condo in the middle of Scottsdale. I’m on a team, I have food on my table, a good family. Life could be a lot worse, so you count your blessings and try to put good energy out into the world.”

    Larry Fitzgerald, the Cardinals’ future Hall of Famer, had given him perspective…”
    —————-

    Intriguing player. Rosen. There’s a lot to like in those paragraphs.

    I have no idea how ANY QB could be evaluated on that Cardinal team last year. The entire offense was Katrina-level-bad.

    I have been wonderin if he shot himself up with painkillers for the Dallas game. And then maybe reaped the consequences of that afterward. Who knows. Jus somethin i always wonder about with NFL culture.

    WV,

    Waaay off topic:

    Did you catch my review of the new book, This Life, by Martin Hagglund? I think all the leftists here would love it, but it’s especially right up your alley, I’m betting.

    IMO, it’s immensely important philosophy, and he makes a provocative case for democratic socialism along the way. Builds up to it. Takes us on a journey, etc. by critiquing both religion and capitalism.

    It’s not as exciting as Game of Thrones, and there aren’t any dragons or zombies in it, at least that I remember, but it’s damn good all the same.

    I bought Overstory because you recommended it 🙂 Yeah, This Life looks good.

    “…Les Snead has a written reminder to that effect on an office whiteboard.
    ‘The answers to your questions are basically right in front of you when you sit down and watch the kids play football on film when you do it December and April,” Snead said. “Take the testing — you always go back to the tape, right, and watch him play football.’
    It may sound cliché, but as a Rams source told The Athletic, “It’s where we’ve had so much success the past few years.” Their draft board this year reflects the emphasis they put on production over measurables….
    ===========================

    That part made me think of the old stories I’ve seen on the Gil Brandt Cowboys. Back when they became all enamored with computers and measurables back in the early 70s.

    Measurables and Production. Usually they match, I suppose. But when they dont?…

    I managed to see the first two episodes. Dunno when I’ll see the rest.

    I thought the first episode was excellent. The second, was just ‘ok.’ I tried to think of why i didnt like it as much and it struck me that the reason was — cause I’ve seen all that before. I’ve seen it a gazillion times.

    Spoiler — episode two was all about ‘the night before the battle’. Some folks get drunk, some get laid, etc etc. Seen it all before a million times. Saw it in 13th Warrior, for example.

    If he gets by the DNC first.

    ===============

    Yeah, the general election would be easier than winning the Dem Primary. The Dems (Wash Post, NyTimes, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, will smear Bernie ENDLESSLY and TIRELESSLY during the primaries.

    But I think the voters are getting tired of the media, and I dont think it will be as effective as in the past.

    But what the hell do i know. I picked Hostetler in the primary against Warner. And I thought Secretariat would finish third.

    Henderson is fast. He actually has a better 20 yard split than serious speed threats like Tavon, Philip Lindsay from last year’s draft, and, yes, Trung.

    He also is short so he’s not a sprinter, but that should help make him a better running back than Trung. Henderson is a good 20 pounds heavier than guys like Trung and Lindsay so Henderson does get yards after contact (at least in college) like Zn posted.

    NFL.com compares him to Tevin Coleman, but I wonder if a better comparison is Devonta Freeman. Freeman and Henderson are almost the same size: 5’8″ and 206-208 (Henderson is 2 pounds heavier). And Henderson is a little faster.

    Freeman put up back to back 1,000 yard seasons and almost averaged 5 ypc under Kyle Shanahan who runs a similar system to McVay I think.

    I say good job McSnead

    ================

    Faster at 20 yards than Tavon? Interesting. Course Tavon had ‘weird’ speed. He never seemed particularly fast going in a straight line. But he could zig-zag better than anyone on the field. He had those weird little bursts. I hope Henderson has better hands than Tavon and can learn some routes.

    I watched some of the vids on Henderson. He just didnt impress me. I didnt see ‘elusiveness’ or tackle-breaking talent. I just saw a shit-load of bad tackling. But I also know that I dont know how to evaluate players and McSnead know a lot more than me, etc.

    I’ll shut up now, and just watch him and root for him. I hope he turns out to be Joe Morris or somethin.

    I think Bernie is the next Prez.

    I dont say that because I’m some sorta bernie fan, coz I’m not a Bernie fan. I just think he will eek out a win among the Dems and then eek out a win in the general election. I think the undecideds will choose him over Trump. Its all about that ten percent that can go either way.

    Well, I look forward to seeing Henderson. I think you can get a good feel for a RB pretty quickly. Its not like there’s a huge learning curve like with WR’s or DT’s etc.

    The thing that makes me smile is simply — McVay. After a decade of mediocre-to-average coaches, McVay is like…a Rainbow, with Unicorns sliding on it, with butterflies coming out their asses.

    I believe in McVay. I’m a true believer. So whether I’m skeptical about this or that draft pick or whether I think they are gonna have wildcard kinda year next year — I’m totally optimistic about McSnead over the long haul.

    I’m real curious about Clay Matthews and Weddle, btw. Picking up those two old-guys were inter esting personnel moves. George Allen moves. Will they be like Whitworth?

    I’m not crazy about the Henderson pick, but what do i know. He’s sposed-to-be a game-breaking, defense-threatening ‘change-of-pace’ back, but he runs a 4.49 forty.

    Well, I hear we cant judge a draft until about two or three years later.

    So, I’d say, my reaction to the 2017 draft, is, that Cooper Kupp was a damn good pick.
    Gerald Everett? Enh.
    John Johnson? Pretty good.
    Josh Reynolds? Enh.
    Ebukan? Not bad.
    Tanzel Smart? I dunno.
    Ejuan Price? I dunno.
    Sam Rogers? Hall of Fame.

    I couldn’t name 4 college players right now. I don’t follow college ball much…a few USC games each year…and I don’t scout out players unless the Rams are drafting in the Top Ten…then I read a little bit. So I have no idea.
