wvParticipantYou know how your parents used to call every console a "Nintendo"?
That's how conservatives use the word "socialist" to describe everything to the left of hunting the homeless for sport.

I dont either. What do i know, but the guy just looks awful out there. Looks like he has no confidence and why would he? And all the opposing kickers just looked better. They boom the ball and get it higher than slo-a-tron.
Is he really the 32nd best kicker in America? Surely they can find a better lousy-kicker than this.
I say all this KNOWING that the football gods will help him kick a 57 yard game-winner next week. I’m helping.

wvParticipantlink:https://www.thecut.com/amp/2020/10/progressive-protest-movement-under-trump.html
“….n June 2020, police took more than 10,000 mostly peaceful protesters into custody across the United States. While the arrests were symptomatic of so much that the protesters were objecting to, they also changed the way many people understood their civic responsibility and their relationship to the state: Tens of thousands of Americans had their first direct encounters with police. So many other thousands protested publicly for the first time (polling suggests that nearly one in five Americans attended a protest between 2016 and 2018 and that 20 percent of them had never done so before); money poured into bail funds. Parents brought their children to marches. People wore masks and videotaped their fellow protesters being hit and dragged away by cops; they worked on campaigns for the first time, registered voters, volunteered to be poll watchers; they read books about structural inequality and tried to learn what intersectionality meant and had their view of history challenged by the New York Times’ “1619 Project” — a rethinking of the American narrative so potent that members of the Republican Party, including Donald Trump and Senator Tom Cotton, have moved to ban it. And as the country changed, so did public opinion: Polls showed majority approval for the protests — about 67 percent of Americans voiced some support for the BLM movement — a change in weeks that was greater than it had been in the previous two years, indicating that even Americans not in the streets were hearing the cries of those who were. Those levels of approval have shrunk (now about 55 percent of Americans say they approve) but not disappeared three months after the height of the protests and after months of backlash law-and-order messaging.
We have been encouraged to see the Trump years as a period of right-wing radicalization. But it’s hard to discount those who began in the moderate or merely apathetic center who have now considered, and in some cases strongly support, policies including the Green New Deal and Medicare for All; they have read, in mainstream publications, arguments for abolishing the police and prisons. So many Americans who had never before engaged actively — learning about, participating — in civic and political life and movements to expand liberty and justice have now done so….”
wvParticipantInteresting game. Kinda sloppy in ways, but solid in other ways.
That Bear Defense has caused so many problems for McVay, I think we have to look at this as progress. Strategic and Execution progress. (Unless the Bear D has regressed)The offense whip-sawed the Bear Defense, and muscled them around at times.
Thats not what happened in the last two bear games.And thats without Higby.
Goff just looked out of it for much of the night. It was one of those weird Off-Goff games. But they didnt need him. Or Higby. And thats what was interesting.
The OLine held up just enough. The RB’s were battering away. The motion and whip-sawing plays were so crisp and effective.Game ball to HekK-a-Tron. Let him kick field goals.
NFC West, man. They are gonna slaughter one another.

wvParticipantThe dum rightwingers actually believe the lie. They actually believe Biden/Hillary/Obama are evil-socialists.
… But to actually believe he is a communist or socialist -I mean if they only get their news on Fox-no one at Fox even says that.
==============
My experience, here in wv is that — yes, indeed they do believe that the Dems are socialists. And they want to take our guns. And they want to take away our school-prayers. And they want to abort gods children. And they want to reward the lazy freeloading poor people by giving them tax-dollars. And they favor black people and mexicans over ‘white’ people. Shall i go on?
They dont really know what ‘socialism’ is in an economic/historical sense. They just know its very bad and encompasses those things i just laid out.
Educated liberals have their own blindspots. Imperialism for example. They dont seem to mind drone-murdering people all over the planet. They dont seem to mind policies that crush the poor. Etc.
w
v
wvParticipantThe Rightwingers thought Obama was a socialist. They thought Hillary was a socialist.
The smart rightwingers KNOW thats just a scary-lie and they know its a Strategy. The dum rightwingers actually believe the lie. They actually believe Biden/Hillary/Obama are evil-socialists.Progressives actually know Bidens record. They know what he has done. And its not progressive. Progressives know the actual facts. He’s a DNC guy. A same-ole-same-ole Corporate-Dem. Same as Clinton, Same as Obama. (Kamala is the ‘New Improved Version of Dems’. Same deal, new package)
So, yeah there’s a huge divide between progressives and rightwingers. As there should be.
Biden will win. Biden will be Obama/Clinton.
The American-poor will continue to be crushed by the Corporotocracy.
Foreign-born poor will continue to be bombed-to-death by Biden and the Dem-Rep-Imperialists.Biden is better than Trump.

wvParticipantWell, Bernie Sanders did not get the memo. He apparently believes he will be president.
!===================
Biden and the Dems will be the death of Bernie.
He really is a special man.
w
v
wvParticipantYeah… the problem with that is that it ignores a few things.
1) the DNC is ideologically, structurally and financially incapable of embracing left policies. They dismantled their ground game in the 90s in favor of corporations and donors.
2) The DNC is on record with thought, word and deed that they would rather embrace very hard right neofascism rather than do anything more than pay lip service to even center left ideas.
3) the DNC has been complicit in disenfranchising (to the point of election fraud) voters by a number of means including, but not limited to voter roll purging, gerrymandering, and undercutting progressive candidates with a chance of defeating Republican candidates with Center-Right candidates with NO chance of winning… (see: DNC running Amy McGrath, a self-styled Trump Democrat over Charles Booker, a progressive with grassroots support)
4) #2 needs to be repeated. There has been no fight about Trump’s court appointments. There was no fight to get Obama’s court appointments through.
So… to all of the Cusack’s out there…
I don’t begrudge your take, but it’s fantasy.
If Trump wins, the DNC wins because they can fund-raise the shit out of Roe falling and continue to make millions with hysterical emails.
If Biden wins, the DNC wins as they can say that their center-right neoliberal schtick has a “mandate” and this proves that America want’s what their selling.
I can’t with all that bullshit.
Both parties ensure that there are only two different brands of shit soup on the shelves and they really want to argue over which tastes better based on sales while ignoring their mafia-esque grip on what the store is ALLOWED to sell.
Honestly, American democracy is more and more a sarcastic joke or an oxymoron than a thing.

The thing is, Mack, I agree with every single one of those points. But I still come to the conclusion that in swing-states, leftists should vote for the lesser-monster.
I agree with Angela Davis, Cornell West, and Noam. Trump is just worse on the environment. He just is. Thats enuff for me.
Biden is certainly BAD on the environment, but not as bad as Trump.
I voted Green as per usual, but WV aint a swing-state.
I expect NOTHING from Biden. He will NOT move to left. Not one inch.
I just think an immovable-biden is STILL better than Trump. Not on Imperialism. They are the same on that. But on the environment? Trump is worse.w

wvParticipantThere are so many good reasons to play that way. Short passes.
First, it gets your QB into a nice rhythm. Gives em confidence.
Second, it takes stress off the OLine.
Third, it demoralizes the opposing pass-rushers. They have to chase ballcarriers all day.
Fourth, it fits this team because the skillplayers are such good blockers.There will be teams that adjust to it better than others, but its not like the Rams cant also throw Medium and Deep. The Rams can counter-adjust.
And its not just ‘short passes’. Some have been kinda ‘tricky’ short passes. Not just obvious dump-offs.
Plus, you have Goff rolling out more, which i LOVE to see. Get him the fuck away from great pass-rushers.
At times, the Rams drives have looked just a bit like Bill Walsh drives.
Going from Jeff Fisher’s offense to he McV offense has been fun to watch. Its just more…interesting. I wish the Rams played Belichick this year. I’d like to see if McV could do better this time.w

wvParticipantWell this is a first.
I have less faith than y’all in the system.
Welp. I hope you’re right. Not rooting for Biden, but want Trump to lose.
Just have no faith that this time we’ll have an orderly transition of power or even an acknowledgment of the vote.
===================
Ha. Yeah, i think that ‘is’ a first. Mack the ‘extremist.’
I guess that makes us centrists now 🙂
I think what gives me hope — is my faith in the Power of the
Corrupt-Imperialist-Murderous-Corporate-Biosphere-Killing-CIA-Loving Machine, that is the Democrat Party.Trump is not messing with Chuck Wepner here. This is Ali vs Frazier.
w

wvParticipantIf you look at where the “whitelash” is strongest, you get three states…two of which will almost certainly go Trump: Ohio and Florida.
And that’s ballgame.…
================
Well Obama had 332. If you subtract Ohio’s 18 and Fla’s 29, you still end up with 285. Takes 270 to win, i think.Biden still might win….’by a yard’ 🙂
As far as the billionaires, I dont think they care one way or the other. I think Biden would be fine with them.
