Kendricks has a thumb injury. Check out him wearing a thumb spica splint as he arrived at the stadium: http://www.stlouisrams.com/photos/photo-gallery/PHOTOS-Week-3-vs-Steelers-Pregame/e708d888-c39d-4156-9e39-a38f82eee9e0
OahuRamParticipantOpen air is also necessary to keep the Dome a viable facility for non-football functions. A new dome would be in direct competition with the old one, making it obsolete and financially unsuccessful.
OahuRamParticipant1999
On March 16, 1999, the NFL owners, by a 29–2 vote, approved a resolution to award Los Angeles the expansion 32nd franchise. However, the award was contingent on the city’s putting together an acceptable ownership team and stadium deal by September 15; if the parties could not reach an agreement or be close to doing so, the committee would then turn its recommendation to Houston.Yes, you are right about the trouble getting the stadium done. I just wonder if St. Louis would be in the situation it is now if LA had gotten that expansion team instead of Houston. I dunno.

OahuRamParticipantGrits,
I cannot remember, after Los Angeles was awarded an expansion team in 1997 how did they end up losing it to the now Houston Texans?
OahuRamParticipantValdez is Coming was a good read but the movie was not so great. Burt Lancaster does not look Mexican. He is Mexicant.
OahuRamParticipantI really enjoy reading Elmore Leonard’s westerns, and the Virgil Cole ones by Robert B. Parker are good too.
OahuRamParticipantA buddy of mine also fact-checked me. I was thinking of a former owner of the St. Louis Blues:
“The Mizzou deal was his brother in law Bill Laurie and he named the Mizzou arena, Paige after his daughter…. That was before he traded Pronger and destroyed the Blues team”
Carry on……such sadnesssssssss
OahuRamParticipantThanks ZN. All of this is giving me Alzheimer’s.
OahuRamParticipantHere’s a question – since we are asking St. Louis fans what they think – here’s a question for everybody.
Suppose SK moves the Rams to LA. And a new team moves to St. Louis. Supposing the NFL goes Cleveland on this deal, and the Rams logo and horns stay in St. Louis with the new team, and Donald, Bradford, Bailey, and Quinn all play for the Los Angeles Surf. Now what? Which team do you follow?
I am a St. Louis guy. Born and raised. With your scenario above I would not follow the team in LA. I would support my St. Louis team. But similar to now, that LA team with those players would probably be my “back up” team like the Cardinals are now for me. I dislike or root against most teams in the NFL. But because of where I have lived (San Diego) and where I have family (New Orleans) there are a few teams that I cheer for when the Rams are out of it.
The Army brought me to Hawaii but I will always be a St. Louis guy. It was so painful when the Cardinals left in 87. I was a senior in high school when they left and it really sucked. This feels worse because it appears that the city and state are better prepared to do what is necessary to keep the team, whereas in the 80’s Civic Progress fumbled away the Cardinals and expansion. However, Kroenke seems hell bent to leave. Spend a billion to move and the value of the franchise increases by 2-3 billion. I understand it. I just don’t get it. Its like Kroenke is a corporate sociapath or something. Like he is incapable of remorse. Like he doesn’t have it. Either that or he’s been running a long con ever since his daughter got busted cheating at Mizzou and he got made fun of for having named a school building after her. I dunno. This is so depressing that I cannot even consider the things I usually do in the offseason, such as the upcoming draft, etc. I couldn’t read through the Jim Thomas chat thread. It sucks to think that they possibly won’t be in my city.
January 1, 2015 at 1:59 am in reply to: how do you see 2015? optimistic, pessimistic, neutral, wait-n-see? #15203OahuRamParticipantI tend to be optimistic, so I look forward to next season. But I am concerned about the o-line. I think with a solid o-line they are a playoff team because we have good RBs and WRs that can get open. But who will they have next season? Long and Wells are probably gone, maybe Joseph too? Robinson had some tough moments this season. Will he improve enough to be a good LT? How well will Saffold recover from shoulder surgery? Barksdale played all 16 games but wasn’t great. Will he be back? Should he be back? We don’t know much about Person, Barnes, Jones.
The Rams quite possibly could have only Robinson and Saffold back for the starters. And neither one of them are reliable linemen. One because he is still learning and the other because he is often injured.
OahuRamParticipantTo me Bradford has amply proven himself already. In the last 2 years, when this team has had both a relatively healthy OL (ie not up to 3 injury replacements a la the first half of 2012) AND a running threat (ie. not Richardson) Bradford has played well. Played well enough to reach “proven himself” status. That is, in 2012/13, in the games meeting that description (relatively healthy OL + running threat), Bradford has averaged a qb rating of 92.2, along with 1.8 TDs per game & 0.67 INTs per game, and a near 50% TDs on attempts inside the 10. And that was without the improved 2014 receivers and Mason. The issue with Bradford is health.
What are Dalton’s numbers like in Cincinnati? I think he has good stats too but I do not think that anyone would say that he has proven himself yet. I hope that Sam comes back next year and lights it up. I think he has the ability to do it. It was so much fun watching the Rams with Warner and then Bulger at the helm. I just miss it man. I miss it. We gotta get it back. If only Cleveland had made that FG attempt the season before the Luck draft.

other teams found their QBs (Seattle) and rebuilt their OLs (Dallas) so Fisher has to be held accountable for not having done that to this point. He also has to be held accountable for the faux-toughness. The trash talking and cheap shots have to go. McDonald almost decapitated Gaines yesterday because he was trying to layout Beckham when the pass had already been made incomplete.I agree about the trash-talking. I feel exactly the same way.
On the OL? They signed Long, they signed Wells, they found Barksdale, they drafted Jones, they drafted Robinson. Both Long and Wells played fine when first signed. What they encountered was a series of injuries. Demoff has even said that OL injuries are the Rams achilles heel. Because of injuries, Long is done, Robinson is at LOT instead LOG as a rookie, and Saffold Wells AND Joseph are playing banged up. And Jones is no use to them because he had back surgery and lost muscle because he could not lift after the surgery.
And they didn’t have to find a qb, they had one. He then became the 1st qb we have ever heard of in all NFL history who injured the same ACL in under 12 months.
I thought they would have won yesterday even with the banged up OL because Hill, though he started shakey, settled in. So I don’t think qb was the issue yesterday. They lost because of a rare special teams turnover and then a regression into the “blown coverages” scenarios from earlier in the season.
I hear you ZN but there were concerns about those signings when they happened, so it was Fisher and Snead’s choices to go with who they got. It was often said that the Rams got ‘inexpensively,’ and the Dolphis let go of, Long because of injury concerns. My buddy that is a Packers fan chuckled when I told him we signed Wells. Barksdale has not had a good year this season. Why draft Jones if he has to “bulk” up, and then the bulking up led to him getting hurt and needing back surgery? The Raiders apparently knew what they were doing in not signing Saffold because of his shoulder. So I understand that the Rams have been unfortunate with all the injuries, but they chose all of these guys despite them all having question marks. So the Rams have to shoulder some of the blame.
Regarding yesterday’s game. In the moment I was very unhappy but know that the turnovers prevented the Rams from having a chance to win. Now I could argue that the turnovers, although unusual, were commited by questionable personnel that the Rams chose to have on their team. T. Austin has been a major disappointment to me and his missed catch was just another example to me that he cannot play in this league. Cunningham has been a good KR so I cannot really fault him too much for his fumble. He has been pretty good with ball security since that phantom fumble he had last year.
For QBs, yes they had their QB but it could be argued that despite Bradfor having good numbers last season he still was not winning enough games. He was not a difference maker. He still needs to prove that he can be a reason they consistently win. I like Bradford and want him to be a 16-game starter for the Rams next season. But up to this point he has not proven himself. I think they should have had a better back up plan for the future. For comparison it will be interesting to see what the Cardinals do with QB this offseason because Palmer now has had 2 ACLs.

I have been thinking the same thing, have we improved. Seattle needs to win on Sunday for a bye. With Fisher, our record has gotten worse, 7-8-1, 7-9, to 6-10(maybe)? That is 20 wins in 3 years. No Head Coach would last that long. I know Fisher and company will be back, but if he does not turn this around quickly, Fisher and his staff will be gone. Nextyear he knows this team has to win at least 10 games, no excuses. How much of a break do we give Snisher
since they lost their starting QB,
two years in a row?Ah well. Snisher will get another
year. Let us hope they do not
give us a fourth year of

“wait till year FIVE…”w
vI think they had to come a long way in overhauling the roster, and have done a good job in doing that. Other teams that turned things around in the past 5-8 years (Detroit, Arizona, Houston) all had pieces in place. The Rams had very little (Long, JL, an aging Jackson). But having said that, other teams found their QBs (Seattle) and rebuilt their OLs (Dallas) so Fisher has to be held accountable for not having done that to this point. He also has to be held accountable for the faux-toughness. The trash talking and cheap shots have to go. December 15, 2014 at 11:04 am in reply to: What's your "bet"? (feeling) (analysis)–Rams beat Giants? #13915OahuRamParticipantI don’t know. I have not really thought much about this game since we have been eliminated and we have no chance at a winning season. I suppose it would be nice to see the defense bounce back and stop the run. It would also be nice to see if someone can step up and start projecting toward “difference maker” status. For example, it is great that Bailey shows flashes of becoming a dependable receiver but it would be great if he could start making plays that win games.

OahuRamParticipantWe are more than just a QB away from being a winner. We need to improve the OL to have any hope of making the playoffs next year. Wells and David stink.
OahuRamParticipantThe Rams can still get the Wild Card if Seattle, Detroit and Philly all finish 9-7. Go play with the playoff machine: http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

OahuRamParticipantGood to know. Hope baby, hope.
OahuRamParticipantVery happy with the win. Good defensive line. LBs still looked slow and blockable at times. Hopefully Davis improves now that teams have adjusted to him. Nice to see Mason featured.
If DL can get to Palmer next week we can win but I am worried we are gonna get out coached.
OahuRamParticipantYeah, I watch every game. Even when it gets really bad.
OahuRamParticipantNeed a QB to win. Despite the sometimes good play by Davis, I don’t think we can count on him as the starter next year. Can’t count on Bradford either. Drafted rookie – nope. Fisher ain’t winning next season either.
OahuRamParticipantI don’t see this team as “bad.” I see it as astonishingly unlucky. For example, not every team has had a 2011 to cope with–and Football Outsiders said the 2011 offense was the single-most injured offense since 2002 (which is as far as they went back).
So not many teams have a 2011.
This one has had two, within 4 years.
That’s just freaking weird heavy bad, bad luck.
The effect is the same as “being bad.” But still.
It’s… the curse.

With the injury argument I will give you the thumping we will take for the rest of the season. But not games 1-6. Bradford and Long were the only ones missing. We got good QB play from Davis so Bradford’s injury was covered. Unless you think losing Chris Long made them lose all those games, I don’t think we can use the injury bug to explain the first 4 losses

OahuRamParticipantSilver lining? RQ made some plays, so maybe he is adjusting into form.
October 21, 2014 at 5:56 pm in reply to: what challenges do the Rams face with KC? Can they win? #10117OahuRamParticipantI am concerned about this. Charles look like Marshall Faulk right now.
OahuRamParticipantSo far so good. I do not know what to make of his response to the pressure that he got from SF last week. He seemed to get a little skittish but I don’t blame him for that. Can he reduce that in the future by calling audibles at the line, hitting hot reads, etc.? He needs his team mates to execute in order to do that type of thing too.
OahuRamParticipantGood stuff Mike. Thanks.
OahuRamParticipantI think their troubles can be summed up to three things: shoddy OL, 3 DCs in 3 years, and unreliable QB play.
OahuRamParticipantTo me there is a main culprit here. Team psyche. Now…that gets close to “psych 101″ posts but I don’t know, I think I have a feel for this particular issue. You can tell if a group has a “mental issue” and I think this group does.
Let’s assume for a sec that the bad call on Cook started them down the slippery slope. Interesting, did you notice that after that call Cook started just sucking as a player? Whole 2nd half. So did the bad call undermine them? If it did, and I think it did, that’s bad. A good, solid, veteran team with confidence overcomes setbacks like that.
So that to me is the key. This is a team with fragile confidence. Mistakes have killed them even though they knew they could have had a couple of games. When confidence goes, so does steady play.
The Rams need a dramatic win to give them team confidence. The paradox of course is that lack of confidence undermines them.
I dont know. They got the three big wins last season and it did not last or carry over to this season. Why do you think that is? Is it because of the turnover in QBs?: Bradford, Clemens, Bradford, Hill, Davis?
OahuRamParticipantI think they need to not lose the line battles. They don’t necessarily need to win both the OL or DL, but they cannot lose. They just have to hold their own. On offense that should translate into good pass protection and only positive runs. And on defense that should translate into stopping the Niners run game. If they can do that AND not have the dumb mistakes, they will have a chance to win.
- This reply was modified 10 years, 1 month ago by OahuRam.
OahuRamParticipantThe other thing I like is the pass distribution. Davis completes passes to many different players each game. I think that is a good thing. I hate the drops though.
