i don’t know about fit, but i’d try to sign brown on a one year deal.

suh too. i don’t know how you fit that under the cap…

what i keep reading and what i like about this pick is the mentality. this guy sounds like aaron donald when it comes to competitiveness. work ethic. suh didn’t have that. i’m excited. i mean it’s still a long shot, but he’s got as good a chance as any other fourth rounder. more so.

    this guy grinds.

I think he might beat out Blythe.

hey if they can upgrade the oline and add a quality running back to take some load off gurley.

and then add a cornerback who could potentially start in the future. a lunch pail type nose tackle and a versatile safety. a special teams dynamo.

    i’m good with that.

i like the pick. i think at the very least he sticks at guard.

no stars in this draft, but they’ve picked up solid role players i think.

just to add to that article. the limitations to that article is that it’s only looking at tackles who’ve played a certain percentage of snaps for their team at tackle.

so he’s plotting points for tackles who can at least play in the league. so i think it stands to reason that there would not be a huge difference in play. there’s no control for variables.

i think a better study would be to take 50 tackles and let them play 16 games. then take those same 50 tackles. remove their arms. and then give them longer arms and let them play 16 games against the same teams.

    ha!

So. The Edwards/Noteboom wars have begun.

    yes they have.

and it will be a long and brutal one.

of course there’s the argument that arm length doesn’t matter. or at least they need to reach a certain threshold and anything beyond that really doesn’t make a difference.

well this is where i’m coming from.

    edwards
    6’6″
    33 3/8″ arms
    9 3/4″ hands
    40 – 5.28 seconds
    short shuttle – 4.77 seconds
    3-cone – 7.69 seconds

    noteboom
    6’5″
    34 3/8″ arms
    9 5/8″ hands
    40 – 4.96 seconds
    short shuttle – 4.44 seconds
    3-cone – 7.65 seconds

so height pretty much the same. joe is 1 inch shorter. he’s currently 322 pounds, but he weighed 309 at the combine – 1 pound heavier than david.

but the arms. noteboom’s arms are a full inch longer. the ideal length for a left tackle whereas david’s are about average.

but then you look at speed and agility numbers and noteboom is better in all numbers although their 3-cone times are about equal.

now this says nothing about actual play. and edwards might indeed have the better playing balance and feet. i just don’t know. i haven’t really seen either play much. i’m not even sure i’d be able to evaluate if i did.

but yes. the fact kromer sees both as candidates for the left tackle spot can only be a good thing. whether they can actually achieve that remains to be seen.

    on edwards and noteboom.

let me say first that i haven’t watched edwards play. not even a single second. noteboom. i’ve seen him in limited action for the rams.

on top of that i know shit about football as far as evaluating talent and play on the field – particularly oline.

i’m really just going off numbers. but noteboom seems like the better lt prospect. in terms of athleticism. in terms of length.

but kromer does know best so whatever he decides is probably the best decision.

Since watching him dominate first-round offensive linemen at the Senior Bowl, the Rams scouting staff had become enamored with Washington’s Greg Gaines.

i like the sound of that!

Multiple people saying Noteboom will likely stay at LG. I don’t understand why. Last year, we were all expecting he was Whitworth’s eventual replacement. Now he’s not?

    We shall see.

Some people don’t even like the Edwards pick, and others have him being LT next year? That’s quite a range of expectation.

    i agree. we’ll see.

he’s got short arms. but huge hands to snatch those interceptions.

i love what i read about this guy. really think they got a steal here.

the secondary should be better than last year.

You shouldn’t sour on him, you were right in the first place.

just a little. there are running backs without the agility numbers who still succeed. kamara being a great example. kareem hunt is another.

we’ll see. can’t wait to see him in preseason and then obviously the regular season.

he’s got talent, and he’s in a system that’s supposed to fit his skill set. so i’m hopeful.

    well. those aren’t good numbers.

sub 4.2 short shuttle and sub 6.9 3-cone would be ideal.

hmmm… not a deal breaker. but it’s soured me a little on him.

i still do like david long a lot. we’ll see.

i don’t know. he seems to be pretty quick. it’d be nice if there were some short shuttle and 3-cone times to go off.

but my guess is they’d be pretty good numbers.

henderson and long will end up being the best picks of this year’s draft…

    of all 32 teams.

    you heard it here first.

yeah. trung was a straight line hit the hole and just run.

this guy is shifty. he’s got decent speed, but it’s his shiftiness that stands out.

plus i read somewhere that he’s the ideal back for a wide zone running attack.

Don’t like what I read somewhere about Henderson having poor vision and being easily knocked off his feet.

i read that too. but in the highlight video he didn’t seem to get knocked down too much.

    of course it’s a highlight video so….

McVay just raves about this guy, and I assume of course implicitly Wade feels the same.

ya know. just have to trust these guys. especially when it comes to safety.

if he is a starter next year, i will happily eat crow.

i really do hope he was injured cuz that’s a slow time.

    slower than anquan boldin.

Thanks for the endorsement. But I think he’s a tackle. I think Evans will be a guard/swing tackle, and the taller Edwards (basketball player, long arms) will be the OT.

i’m not so sure about that. evans has length edwards does not.

they’re both pretty limited athletically, so if either make tackle, it’s more likely to be at right.

i really didn’t know how to react at first. but i like what i’m reading about these players.

I think my favorite two picks are Henderson and Long.

yeah. i think that’s where i’m at right now.

ideally i woulda wanted to add a tight end to this offense, but i really like this kid henderson. and i doubt they coulda found a tight end who could have made the same impact as this kid with the same pick. he diversifies the running game. takes a load off gurley’s knee. gives goff another option. makes the offense more unpredictable. i just love the mcvay offense. and i suspect i’ll love it even more next year.

david long just looks better and better the more i read. adding him and weddle in free agency. i wish they could solidified the front seven, but they did the next best thing. that secondary looks better than it did last year. way better. i think he’s a potential future starter. but again. never seen these guys play so…

day 3. i really like the scott pick. i think he’s a special teams star. fassel likes him, and that’s good enough for me.

and while i really don’t have an opinion on the olinemen, i know it’s important for depth and development. let’s see what kind of magic kromer can conjure up.

this is a pick where the more i read about him the more he grows on me. to the point where he might be my second favorite pick of this draft.

the only concern i have is reading that he never played zone in college. so there’s uncertainty there. but it also doesn’t mean he can’t do it. just that he was never asked to.

but everything else is fine. even his short arms.

He looks like he can add the proverbial new dimension to the Rams’ O. McVay is gonna love that.

what i like about mcvay most is he always remains balanced. he doesn’t forsake the run for the pass. sure in games sometimes he may get carried away.

but this will always be a play action offense first. it’s a balanced offense, and he’ll never leave goff out to dry.

and at the same time it’s always exciting. explosive.

McVay called him a unique playmaker, and when asked, said this pick was about Henderson’s skills and not Todd Gurley’s knee.

not buying it. i like the pick, but at least part of it was about the knee.

i do think henderson will be fun to watch though. that highlight tape was something else.

i’m just worried about dline right now.

    dude is slow.

but his short shuttle and 3 cone times are startlingly good.

    3.99 and 6.82.

those are elite times. but his lack of top end speed worries me.

this i think is my favorite pick. but it also makes me go gulp!

mcvay is gonna have a lot of fun working this guy into the offense.

have i seen this kid play? no. nor have i seen any of these guys play…

but the stats alone make me excited.

i’m warming up to the idea of solidifying that center position.

risner is particularly interesting because he could fill in at guard as well. i don’t know if mccoy could do that. i think he could because he’s got the size and athleticism.

or even if they could play guard and replace blythe with allen playing center. i’m tending towards wanting to strengthen the lines whether that be defensive or offensive.

but if they decide to go defensive back i won’t be disappointed. that already happened when tillery came off the board.

to me it’s obvious they wanted tillery. once he came off the board the rams traded. i don’t know how else to explain it.

at this point i don’t care who they pick. cb, ol, lb…

i’m disappointed though. that woulda been a helluva dline right there.
