2. it feels good to have the best player in the league.
July 31, 2019 at 5:42 pm in reply to: great report by Charles Robinson after visiting Rams camp #103506InvaderRamModeratorSean McVay says he’s more twitchy in his upper body and flicking passes that used to require a tiny windup.
that should make it harder for defenses to get a jump on the ball.
InvaderRamModeratorTorry was slobbering all over Donald. Said he has everything, reached the top, and doesn’t slack one bit, keeps learning every day. Said AD will be in the class with Deacon and Merlin. The all time great Rams.
drool. the greatest ram i’ve ever seen.

InvaderRamModerator@sj39 was a tank and a shining light at a time of such darkness for the franchise.
so true.

that’d be so cool.
InvaderRamModeratorone of my favorite rams of all time.
i can only imagine what numbers he woulda put up in mcvay’s offense.
InvaderRamModeratorDH does sound like he’s big in their plans
mcvay always seems to throw in a wrinkle each season.
InvaderRamModeratorreally like what i’m reading about henderson.
can’t wait to see him in preseason.
July 27, 2019 at 2:57 pm in reply to: Ranking the top-five draft-eligible I D Lineman by pressure percent #103328InvaderRamModeratorlosing out on tillery bummed me out, but if one of these guys pans out i’ll be happy.
InvaderRamModeratorHe’s 24 years old.
yeah. and it’s not exactly like he’s got all pro receivers surrounding him. although they are quite good.
the guy just gets better and better every year and only just scratching the surface right now.
it should be fun tracking his progress.
InvaderRamModeratorThe @RamsNFL are the only team in the NFL to use shotgun on less than 50% of their offensive snaps since 2017, and @JaredGoff16 has been one of the best QB from under center over that span.#LARams
funny that one of the biggest questions surrounding goff was his ability to play under center.
InvaderRamModeratorhow awesome will it be to have this guy back?
InvaderRamModeratorhammond casually mentions that nose tackle will be a question mark. that is my main concern on defense. i know a lot of people didn’t like how suh loafed through the regular season, but it’s still big shoes to fill.
i think they’ll figure it out, but it’s very much a concern of mine. i still think overall the defense improves.
InvaderRamModeratorThe thing that may balance all that is that the defense is being set up to do far better than it has been doing.
i think so too.
and if gurley happens to not be at full strength, i think henderson will keep the running game going.
InvaderRamModeratorI dont foresee any regression in his game. I just think losing Saffold, and Sullivan, and relying on the aged Whitworth, combined with an eroding-Gurley, is going to regress the whole offense.
not a regression in his game but a regression statistically.
but i think it does force him to elevate his game.
InvaderRamModeratorThey are working on him reacting more quickly on progressions post-snap, especially against unfamiliar or unexpected coverages.
i think pre-snap is where he struggles. and even post-snap it’ll take awhile. it’s gotta be different with live reps as opposed to practicing it.
but i think he’ll eventually get over that hump. like i said almost every qb goes through something like this it seems like.
i don’t think it’ll be anything permanent.

InvaderRamModeratorthat team is loaded. it’s not even fair.
July 7, 2019 at 11:42 am in reply to: tweets & other bits … 7/5 thru 7/8 … (including a good VB Q&A) #102749InvaderRamModeratortg, jared, and cooks at the bmw performance center.
some instagram bits at the link.
Watch: Cooks, Gurley crack up over Goff's driving at BMW track
InvaderRamModeratorhmmm… still wondering if they have enough perimeter shooting.
if cousins is healthy, that’s a helluva front court there.
InvaderRamModeratorhe and everett are the two offensive skill position players i’m most excited to see this season.
InvaderRamModeratorWell, i agree it was one of the best, but I dont think it was nearly as good in its third and final season. Somethin went wrong.
my understanding is milch spent more and more time on john from cincinnati.
which was also a very good show. even if just for one season.
but he really shoulda just concentrated on one.
InvaderRamModeratorI dunno guys. I know I’m repeating myself but losing an experienced, savvy, coach-on-the-field-CENTER, and losing an Allpro-ish-Saffold. Coupled with an old-almost-retired-LT….well how does that sound? Forget yer a Ram fan — how would you look at it if it were the Seahawks?
i hope that goff is ready to take the training wheels off.
i also hope noteboom is ready to take over.
but yeah. this is probably my biggest worry as far the offense is concerned. second would be gurley’s health.
InvaderRamModeratori think the linebacker group is the big unknown here.
i think kiser will be solid. littleton like you said should be even better playing barron’s role.
the outside linebackers. i don’t know. i think matthews should have something left in the tank. and he’ll be surrounded by better talent. the key is the other side. who steps up? fowler? ebukam? okoronkwo?
InvaderRamModerator“Jared – like any player going into their fourth year – you just see different looks and you understand what they’re trying to do,” Robinson continued. “Because our defense, they’re throwing a ton of stuff at us right now. And he’s done a great job handling looks and understanding where to go with the ball.”
we’ve been hearing this stuff all off-season but doesn’t get too old.
InvaderRamModeratorit was also a different era.
what i would be curious about is where they ranked compared to other qbs of that era.
overall brady ranked ninth that season compared to goff’s eight ranking. ben was ranked 21st.
or better yet on those slumps how much lower was his rating compared to his average that year and compare that to how much lower goff’s slumps were compared to his overall average last year. and do the same for his completion percentages.

InvaderRamModerator“So Weddle went over and took his place and then hollered at him to go and take his place,” Phillips said. “It’s those kinds of things that you don’t normally see, most players they just play their position, but he understood the concept and said, ‘Hey, he didn’t have to go, so I’ll go, but he needs to go back where I was.’ That’s what he adds, certainly.”
2 big questions for me.
1. nose tackle
2. linebacker corpsJune 22, 2019 at 4:19 pm in reply to: Gurley's trainer: All-Pro has an 'arthritic component to his knee' #102316InvaderRamModeratorthis really shouldn’t be all that shocking. running backs who carry the load as much as gurley has – their bodies eventually break down. he’s played four years. hopefully, he got another three left.
unless you’re barry sanders this is to be expected. smith went through it. faulk went through it early in his career and again toward the end of his career.
it’s just something that has to be managed. the rams knew it. i don’t think that means extending him was a bad move. they just need to manage it, and hopefully, he makes it another three years. it looks like they have a plan, and i have full faith that todd will do everything he can to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible. whether he does or not remains to be seen, but he was worth the money. if anyone can be worth that amount of money. he’s one of the best players in the league.

June 20, 2019 at 12:41 am in reply to: Gurley's trainer: All-Pro has an 'arthritic component to his knee' #102263InvaderRamModeratori agree when mcvay talks about not depending so much on todd at the beginning of the season. his overall touches don’t seem all that bad, but the bulk of those touches came in the first half of the season.
for example, last season he had 200 touches in the first half. 115 in the second half. they should cut those first half touches down to about 130-140 touches. now does this mean for certain that his knee issue won’t flare up? no. but the chances are better that he’s able to finish stronger in the second half and hopefully the playoffs.
in 2017, his splits were 172 in the first half. 171 in the second half. so he actually had more touches for the whole season but didn’t peter out like he did in 2018.
i’d still reduce his touches to like around 300 for the season, but also make sure that they are spread more evenly from beginning to end.

InvaderRamModeratori’m telling ya. this guy is primed for a breakout season.
gurley isn’t gonna get the same amount of touches. kupp needs to be eased back in. defenses will be focused on woods and cooks.
plus it takes awhile for tight ends to adjust to the league. especially one as raw as everett was coming out of college.
but this guy is a very good athlete.
InvaderRamModeratori like redick too. basically a catch and shoot guy.
that sounds like the perfect compliment to a lebron davis duo.
