Clutch moments by Yeast in the 4th quarter.
i know yeast was in on that pass break up on the last drive. i’m guessing he was also the one who broke up the pass on the previous drive? those were two timely plays for sure. maybe a little luck but liked to see it. wentz played well too. and congrats to puka.
InvaderRamModeratorI don’t know the last player who did but the last 2 DL who did were White and Smith (last year for both was 98).
sorry i meant dlineman but thanks to zooey for finding that.
InvaderRamModeratorLos Angeles Rams PR@TheLARamsPR DT Aaron Donald was selected to his 10th career Pro Bowl and is the only defensive lineman since 1970 to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first 10 seasons. He joins Pro Football Hall of Famers Reggie White (13) and Bruce Smith (11) as the only defensive linemen since 1970 with 10 Pro Bowl selections
ok. my question still stands though. who was the last player before donald to make the pro bowl in each of their first ten seasons?
InvaderRamModeratori love that video.
InvaderRamModeratorNFL Rumors@nflrumsLos Angeles Rams Aaron Donald is the only DL since 1970 to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first 10 seasons.i’m gonna venture a guess and say the last one was merlin olsen?
Olsen was in 14 consecutive pro bowls, from 1962 to 1975. Joe Greene was in 11, 1969-1970.
well i meant making the pro bowl in each of his first 10 seasons. so i think it is merlin olsen. joe greene made it his first eight seasons and then missed out in 1977 – his ninth season.
InvaderRamModeratorWeek 18 matters more this season than it has in decadeswell. technically week 18 has only been in existence for 3 years… but i get what he’s trying to get at. or also i guess week 18 matters more than in the decades it didn’t even exist… haha. i’m being an ass.

InvaderRamModeratorwhoa. is that kyren williams in the picture with steven jackson? very cool.
InvaderRamModeratori have no way of verifying if this is true, but turner’s double team rate is higher than aaron donald’s??? one thing i can verify is eight of turner’s sacks have come in the last eight games. wow.
Kobie Turner moved into the top-20 in pass-rush win-rate this week.
Turner's 11% PRWR ranks 17th.
Also worth-noting, Turner has a double-team rate of 71%. Jalen Carter's double-team rate is just 59%. Turner also has a higher double-team rate than Aaron Donald (63%).

Please tell me how his numbers are so crazy ?
Kobie Turner has more sacks, more total pressures, more run stops, and more TFLs than Jalen Carter btw pic.twitter.com/VTR1rW0XB5

InvaderRamModeratori put this in another thread but it may be more appropriate here. compares kyren’s season to gurley’s 2018 season. i also want to note that 2018 was gurley’s age 24 season. this is kyren’s age 23 season.

InvaderRamModeratorok. on the post below i attempted to post a tweet comparing the dpoy candidates. turner has 40 plus pressures on the season. i was mistaken before in saying he only had 19.
anyway. it’ll be interesting to see how his career develops. whether he’s just a product of playing next to donald or if he can become something more.

InvaderRamModeratorhttps://ramsrule.com/herd/read.php?19,1069285
in this thread from the herd. don’t know how to upload just the pics here. but there’s two instances of turner getting double teamed while ad is getting single teamed. these are just two isolated instances. but i’m wondering if defenses are having to account for turner more. it’d be interesting to know.
just going along with wv’s question about how offensive coordinators view turner when they look at game film.
whatever the case he’s only 24. so i’m hoping there’s still a lot of potential left in him. not just so he can realize his potential. but also so that he hopefully can take some pressure off donald as he is starting to enter his post-prime years.
it’s also why i think they need to make a blue chip signing on defense. they can’t continue to expect donald to be prime donald. he needs help.
InvaderRamModeratorOne wonders if this had something to do with Shanahan beating McVay so often. Always seems like Shanahan is one step ahead of McVay, I dunno. But if I had been in the situation McVay was in, I would have thought to myself, ‘maybe i need to go outside the Shanahan box, just so Shanahan cant predict every move i’m gonna make anymore’.
that’s a good question. i gotta think it at least played some role in his decision making. how could it not?
InvaderRamModeratorI’d be curious how the various DC’s talk about him in the film room, though. IF AD wasnt there, would Turner get double-teamed? Is he that kind of wrecking-ball? Or just a solid DT benefiting from AD?
my guess would be he is not an ad kind of wrecking ball. he won’t have game plans centered around trying to contain him. but i think he could be better than say a dante fowler who definitely benefitted from playing next to ad.
InvaderRamModeratora correction. long only had 8.5 sacks the year before. and 24.5 total sacks the two years before that. and he was injured most for a lot of the 2014 season which was donald’s rookie year. but quinn has 10.5 sacks in 2014. to go along with 20 qb hits.
aaron donald in 2014. 38 solo tackles 9 sacks. 18 tfl. 13 qb hits. played next to quinn who was coming off what was at the time a historic season.
kobie turner. 29 solo tackles 9 sacks. 8 tfl. 15 qb hits. playing next to a lawrence taylor level hof player.
again not trying to say he’s the next aaron donald. but i think he should be considered a contender for droy. i don’t know that he should actually win it. but he should be in the convo.
InvaderRamModeratoralso. donald his rookie year played next to quinn and long. the same quinn who had 19 sacks the year before. and long who had two consecutive seasons of double digit sacks before donald came on board. again. i’m not trying to compare turner to prime donald. just rookie donald.
but yeah. you have to wonder how much of it is playing next to a guy who is in the legit conversation of greatest defensive player ever.
InvaderRamModeratorEnh. I’ve seen all this too many times now. Somebody doing really well on a line with Aaron Donald. I dunno how good Turner really is. He’s certainly played well, and he’s ‘solid’ and he was a great draft pick. But more than that, I dunno. w v
that’s a valid point but he should still be in the conversation. at the very least. i don’t know that mainstream media is actually talking about him as a candidate.
InvaderRamModeratorwell. i don’t think anyone could have predicted young, turner, and nacua would be THIS good THIS early. maybe avila. but certainly not the other three. without those three this team is a losing team. i don’t think caleb williams territory. but certainly top 10. not even mentioning dotson. and not even mentioning kyren williams. well. some may have predicted kyren williams to be good. i thought he could be decent. but what he’s produced has been beyond my wildest dream.
i thought avila would be a decent starter right away. i thought young and turner were a couple years down the road. nacua i saw him in training camp and liked what i saw, but never did i think he’d be challenging a 70 year old record.
but they don’t have to reproduce that kind of an offseason. i think they need a cornerback. i agree with everyone who says that. bring back most of their free agents. i do think they need one big fa signing on defense. maybe they can’t afford it. i don’t know. i think most of their needs they can accomplish through the draft. and then of course. the young players need to keep improving. i don’t see them not doing that. turner has donald as a mentor. nacua has kupp. i mean could you ask for better mentors? seriously. plus they just seem like the type of guys who are self-motivators anyway. kyren williams too. every time i hear that guy talk he just has this chip on his shoulder. this feeling that he’s always trying to prove himself. i don’t see success getting to these guys’ heads. they won’t just follow the leaders on this team. they are built to become leaders themselves.
InvaderRamModeratorMy concern is we could be one and out in the playoffs. Our field goal kicker is trash, and our secondary is trash. Derion Kendrick starting, means to me, no one else is as good as him, on the roster. It is sad, you look in free agency for 2024, it is not that good either, based on what’s out there.
yeah. i would say it’s hard to see them going deep in the playoffs. and they very well could go one and out. but it’s a good step forward. then they’ll need a really good offseason.
InvaderRamModeratori don’t know if he should win the defensive rookie of the year. but he should definitely be in the conversation. hoping he spends the offseason attached to donald’s hip.
byron young as well. what a season he’s had.
InvaderRamModeratorhe had chances.
InvaderRamModeratoravila, young, turner, and nacua. we won’t know the true impact of this year’s draft class for another five years maybe. but wow. what a first year it’s been. wow. just wow.
InvaderRamModeratorwow. what a season. unbelievable. i’d like a win next week though.
InvaderRamModeratoralso. congrats to kobie turner for tying donald’s record for nine sacks as a rookie!
and he’s got a chance to break it albeit with one more game than donald did.
i’d be interested to know how many pressures kobie generated vs donald his rookie year.
InvaderRamModeratorwhat an ugly game. but it was gonna happen at some point. special teams was bogus. cost the rams 9 points was it?
actually it was 8 since the giants missed the extra point i believe.

InvaderRamModeratorLooks to me like a lot of this is not just the players but obviously the OL coach too, Wendell, who IMO has been just outstanding. This OL has the “Patriots feel” which doesn’t mean they play like the Patz exactly in terms of the scheme, but that the Patz, under the great OL coach Dante Scarnecchia, just had a real talent for playing together as a unit and for being aware of everything. Wendell played under Scarnecchia and then was an assistant OL coach for Aaron Kromer in Buffalo. That’s a good resume. It really looks like McV scored big with that coaching hire. An example of how that’s working out? IMO Havenstein has never played better. And it’s the personnel people too.
that’s kind of why i lean toward letting dotson go. not that he’s a jag. but i’m wondering if they can’t just find another diamond in the rough or two and coach them up. jackson i lean toward keeping because i think left tackles are hard to find and he’s also a restricted free agent so they have a little more control over the situation.
InvaderRamModeratorjackson has been a revelation. just completely underestimated that dude. to the point that i don’t think they need to draft an lt. just try to re-sign him. he’s still young.
i’m still leaning toward letting dotson go only because i fear he will command too much money. i’d try to draft a guard. maybe even a center. try to make another trade. add a bargain basement free agent. just add numbers and let them compete.
