InvaderRamModeratorjust had a weird thought. the road to the superbowl might go through qbs of rams past…
InvaderRamModeratorgurley is getting big time publicity for mvp honors.
i gotta think he at least wins offensive player of the year.
and donald gets defensive player of the year.
that’d be cool.
InvaderRamModeratordo they? rams just sent out emails for the wild card game. i thought they clinched the third seed?
if so, i’d sit all the starters.
i mean i hate the niners, but i also don’t want to see any injuries.
InvaderRamModeratorfirst fourth quarter comeback for goff.
They were down by 3 early in the 4th, the score was at 11:51 remaining in the quarter, and that’s a bit early for me for a real comeback. I think it can count as a game winning drive. What struck me on that play is that Kupp made a clutch TD catch and broke his own jinx.
hey. it’s a fourth quarter comeback. maybe not one of the all time greatest comebacks but it fits the criteria.
i actually don’t think he played all that great today, but that was a beautiful pass.
and like you said an even better catch by kupp. especially after dropping that third down catch before.
but man. today was all about gurley. 2093 yards from scrimmage and 19 tds. what a season he’s had.

InvaderRamModeratorNo nose tackles?
they definitely need a nose tackle. i just don’t know who’s available or who’s good.
InvaderRamModeratorfirst fourth quarter comeback for goff.
InvaderRamModeratori am desperately hoping for a huge game from quinn.
he’s already had a strong run of games here, but it’d be cool to see him top it off with a career game today.
multiple strip sacks. weekend at bernie’s!
this guy could take this team from a playoff team to a legit superbowl contender.

InvaderRamModeratorshaquil barrett. played under wade at denver.
that’d be interesting.

InvaderRamModeratori’ll also say this. had bradford stayed healthy. if they hire shanahan. yeah. those could have been some good teams there.
shoot bradford, amendola, and jackson showed promise i thought. just couldn’t stay healthy.
December 23, 2017 at 6:21 pm in reply to: Fisher says he left Rams in 'good shape,' lauds Sean McVay #79384
InvaderRamModeratorhis two biggest weaknesses were his inability to find a wr outside of danny amendola and his inability to have any kind of consistency at the offensive coordinator position.
everything else he was able to do.
i sometimes wonder what would have happened had he hired kyle shanahan. i don’t know why that didn’t happen or if shanahan didn’t want the job. but that woulda been a helluva fit. but then he probably woulda lost him anyway to some team needing a head coach – possibly the niners!
InvaderRamModeratorWouldn’t it be weird if Ogeltree made a game saving tackle on the 1 yard line?
a little weird. even weirder if they were wearing their old blue and yellows. and fisher was still coaching the rams.

InvaderRamModeratori’m thinking kupp and watkins have huge games tomorrow.
InvaderRamModeratorso now two of their top three cbs are injured?
big challenge now is stopping that offense.
a chance for aaron donald to show why he’s the best damn player in the nfl.

InvaderRamModeratori wonder what the timetable is for lafleur to start calling games.
i know mcvay let him do some of that in the preseason and has talked about eventually handing that part over.
it’ll allow him to hone in on the games as a whole rather than sitting by himself and thinking about the next offensive drive.
i think it’s necessary. right now he can lean on a guy like phillips and bones. but that won’t always be the case. just a random thought.
InvaderRamModeratorhis height actually helps him. that explosion. combined with that low center of gravity. guys 6’4″ and 6’5″ can’t block that.
same goes for geno atkins. he probably doesn’t have that hand eye coordination that donald does. but in terms of height and explosion. he’s right there.

InvaderRamModerator[Gurley] had a down year last year, he wasn’t healthy
Well that’s interesting.
And, not previously known or said.
…
yeah i saw that.
this team is jeff fisher’s cream dream.
strong defense and special teams combine with a strong play action offense that can beat you deep.

InvaderRamModeratorPlus he inherits Goff, Gurley, Saffold, Donald, Brockers, Tree, Barron, Joyner, Tru, Hekker, 14 16ths of Zuerlein, and Cooper.
all but saffold were brought in during the fisher regime.
InvaderRamModeratori feel like goff has hit a wall somewhat the last few games. but i think that’s to be somewhat expected. all part of the development process.
and now especially with gz out for the rest of the season, there’s even more of an onus on him to step up his game.
interested to see how he responds.
InvaderRamModeratorwtficken.
InvaderRamModeratorsigh.
InvaderRamModeratori hope the rams are up for this game. just go in with the mindset of putting this division away quick. limited use of gurley and sit him early.
then next week sit gurley against the niners.
probably won’t be that easy but i can hope anyway.
InvaderRamModeratorDon’t sleep on Robert Quinn. The Rams’ outside linebacker has six sacks over his last four games and, according to Pro Football Focus, has generated 17 quarterback pressures during that time. That’s the same amount of pressures he had through the season’s first eight games.
yeah. this is an interesting development.
the defense was already pretty good. but now quinn is actually productive? ummm… yeah. i don’t think he’ll ever be the old quinn. but a quinn at maybe 75% of his powers? i’m curious to see how the defense does these next 2 games.

InvaderRamModeratorYou gotta hear this one. I promise.
i said before the game there was no excuse for the rams to lose this game. even playing at seattle.
they were just way too injured to put up any kind of resistance unless the rams just had a collective brain fart the size of la county.
maybe i didn’t expect quite that level of an ass beating. but the rams did what they were supposed to.

InvaderRamModeratori also want to say this. i have no problems with how mcvay has used todd overall. outside of the eagles game. given how he was running and how the game was going, sean absolutely shoulda rode gurley that week.
but overall he’s been almost perfect.
for me the big problem was malcolm brown being hurt. a healthy brown woulda probably meant a more balanced run/pass ratio. but mcvay is smart not to put too much on todd. he’s like what? second in the league in touches??? why would you want to give him the ball more??? as it is he’s on pace for 356 touches. i want todd fresh. not just for the playoffs. but for the coming years. i just find it annoying when people criticize mcvay for not using todd enough. he’s being used enough. the problem was the rams depth at running back fell off when brown was injured.
no. sean played it right. and hopefully, with brown back, the rams run it more. simple as.

InvaderRamModeratorBill Barnwell talks to Alden Gonzalez about the Rams’ shellacking of the Seahawks, Todd Gurley’s place in the MVP race, Sean McVay’s play-calling tendencies, the biggest concerns for this team heading into the postseason and more.
i wanna say. i wouldn’t say there were no signs…
anybody who watched the rams knew about their special teams and defense. they have been good for awhile. and todd gurley was generally recognized as a blue chip talent before last season.
InvaderRamModeratori’m excited. donald seems excited about the possibility of staying here which was very different from the offseason.
pay him what he wants. he deserves every penny of it.
and for my money. he’d be the mvp of the league. all due respect to gurley, but donald is the best player on this team. not even close.
so disruptive. mcvay’s gotta do right by him and surround him with quality players. make this defense the best in the league. lock him up and then draft vita vea and an outside linebacker. re-sign trujo and joyner. maybe draft another cornerback or sign one.
InvaderRamModeratorI will never tire of this
play:i laughed out loud when that play happened.
and i have a ton of respect for wilson. but that’s what makes it that much more impressive.
InvaderRamModeratortodd gurley. what’s so refreshing is not so much his yardage totals and touchdowns. it’s the efficiency at which he is producing these numbers. he’s not getting an excessive amount of carries, and he’s become such a force in the receiving game as well. his average per carry is now up to 4.6. that’s astonishing considering he was averaging less than 4 yards per carry in the month of september. just hope he continues to develop his game. i don’t see why he wouldn’t.
aaron donald. he’s now tied a career high of 11 sacks with 2 games to go. i said in the offseason that he should get whatever he asks for. i stand by that. he’s what a face of the franchise should look like. ultra-competitive. won’t be outworked. and just a freakish athletic talent. when he gets his hands on you, it’s over. pay the man.
robert quinn. oh, brother. if this guy is back, wow. that changes everything in the offseason. now i’m not foolish enough to think that he’ll ever be completely his old self. but if he can be productive like he has been in these past 4-5 games, the rams need to keep him. i think the weight loss has done him good. less stress on the back.
andrew whitworth. i think this guy can play at a high level for the next 2 years after this season at least. they need him to.
InvaderRamModeratorpersonally i would not bring back watkins. i like him, but the depth is so good. and they need defense badly.
austin. i don’t know if it makes sense cap-wise to cut him. if it does make sense, then no. i don’t see him coming back. cooper is already starting to take some of those jet sweeps away from him. he’s pretty much a backup rb at this point.
