that’s tough. goff for sure. i mean goff’s got a chance to be a really good qb. you can’t give those away.

donald or gurley? that’s an impossible choice.

i always have a soft spot for rbs. my favorite position.

but donald is potentially an all-timer.

ask me again in 5 years.

well. it’s actually quite common for qbs to regress in their third or fourth years. even ones drafted as high as goff was.

defenses adjust to the qb and usually there’s a period where the qb has to adjust to what the defenses are doing to him.

so i actually wouldn’t be surprised to see goff regress a little bit, but i’d also expect goff to make the necessary adjustments.

i do also want to add that i think goff is going to be a real good one. i’m excited. and i’m loving what i’m reading about him so far this offseason. pretty much ticking off all the boxes of things i wanted to be reading about him this offseason. at this point i like him more than i liked sam bradford before all the injuries started piling up for him.

You don’t often see a QB drafted like Goff was in their second season throw for over 3,800 yards, 28tds, 62% completions, and only 7ints and regress in their third year.

that’s good and all but none of this works unless the rams have production on the edge. and while i have faith that ebukam and longacre and ogbo will come through, i still need to see it on the field.

I know know Kupp came through last year but I still see a little “green” in him so far though that could easily change.

i think there’s a lot green left in him.

he was on the older side for a rookie, but he was still a rookie. and part of what makes me so excited about this wr corps. cuz he’s the one with the most potential to improve.

and outside of goff possibly the one guy on offense with the most untapped potential. he and everett both. but especially kupp. kinda like holt when he came into that offense as a rookie. i think that gsot offense went to another level when holt took off in his second year, and i expect kupp to do the same.

i’ll say. jackson has a really good case for being the greatest ram rb ever because of longevity.

but he only had one truly dominant season.

i’ll be interested to see how gurley’s career unfolds.

can’t wait to see suh line up next to donald.

and then to see the new secondary?

after last season ended i wasn’t too sure about how wade was going to improve the defense. now it looks like a potentially great one on paper.

i’m eager to see how goff responds in his third season. perhaps the one guy among the key positions on this team with the MOST potential still to be tapped.

whit, gurley, cooks, donald… we all pretty much know what we’re gonna get.

goff? this guy could take the rams to another level. everybody knows it. from afar it seems like he’s got the mental makeup to thrive under the pressure.

i’m just curious how far he can take it. how good he can actually become.

that surprises me. i read somewhere last season where he was better against the run than you might imagine. but i didn’t think he was that good.

how was he in pass defense?

I think Goff will be better, though it’s not clear how much better. Either way they can win with what he already was last year.

and you gotta figure kupp gets better. and you could even see everett getting better. i wouldn’t count on it, but it would definitely be a plus.

i still gotta remind myself that the rams got peters, talib, and cook from this draft.

do the rams achieve greater heights or does it all implode in mcsnead’s face?

all i can say jack is that you would be missed more than any seven round mock draft you could post.

i imagine you’d be doing mock drafts in that great mock draft room in the sky…

Edge rushers might not be a strength, but I don’t see them as a flaw.

yeah. just not enough info at this stage. but i think they’ve got a chance to be good. i like ebukam and okoronkwo.

Outside of Noteboom, this draft seemed to be all about solid role players.

i think ogbo could surprise. not this year. but in the future. he’s got a chance to be a good player. more than just a role player. but yeah. i agree.

it’d be nice if he could play two more years.

ehhh. it was pretty obvious to me for awhile that they were trying to get rid of him.

in some ways it’s annoying. maybe mcvay should have given a better effort in trying to incorporate him into the offense. to me. it’s obvious that he didn’t.

then again. i’m much happier with cooks than i am with austin. i just wish they didn’t spend so many resources on the receiver position to get to this point.

This approach worked fine last year when the draft talent and the Rams needs matched. But this year it didn’t. The Rams didn’t make bad picks, but I think they could have better picks.

i think you’re thinking specifically edge rushers.

i woulda done the same. ebukam, sweat, and okoronkwo woulda been a good rotation i think.

i think they coulda gotten allen later.

i did like the noteboom pick. a lot. i understand what jake was saying about crosby being a little more versatile. i don’t see noteboom playing guard. but the potential for me woulda been too hard to pass up. i think he’s got a real chance to be able to play left tackle. and i don’t know that i’d pass that up in the third round.

i’m also not sure about franklin-myers. although i admit i haven’t seen these guys play.

but again. and maybe it’s just me being too narrowly focused. but i thought the rams had a chance to build a vicious front seven. maybe it still is. but josh sweat could have been a real find in the fourth round. instead he goes to a very strong philly team who – if things go right for the rams – will be the main obstacle to the rams getting to a superbowl.

It seems like this draft had a lot of talent in the lower rounds and beyond. The Rams did a good job of addressing needs, filing holes, and finding fits. I do think they passed on talent that I would not have passed on, therefore I don’t think this was a great draft. I am OK with their draft. I just think they could have done better.

i question some of the picks for sure. i realize oline depth was a concern. but yeah. i think i woulda gone for talent over need.

that guy jake really loves tegray scales. another prospect i know nothing about. but i looked him up. tons of production. tackles. tackles for losses. lots of sacks. interceptions.

sounds like competition for barron or at the very least a special teams phenom.

And Kiser outperformed Ogletree on EVERY combine test, except the broad jump.

and in production in college. i didn’t know anything about him, but the more i read the more impressed i am.

it should be interesting. how this defense develops. and if kiser and ogbo can make an impact this season.

    Avatar photoInvaderRam

McVay also referred to Kiser as a great communicator, which could be an indication of his potential to become a defensive signal-caller.

    production. intelligence. leadership.

i’m liking the pick more and more.

No, 34″ is good arm length, but it’s GREAT arm length for a guy that’s six feet tall. He’s got longer arms than Buckner and Armstead despite being 7 inches shorter.

well. again. 34″ is long even for a guy that’s 6’5″. his height and the leverage he can create being so low to the ground. and the length. combined with the agility. i wonder how good he can be.

    melvin ingram
    6’2″ 264 lbs
    31.5″ arms 9.625″ hands
    40 – 4.79 (1.62 10 yd split)
    short shuttle – 4.18
    3 cone – 6.83
    vert broad – 34.5″
    broad – 109″
    bp – 28

    50 games 111 tackles 30.5 tfl 21.5 sacks 1 ff 0 fr

    ogbonnia okoronkwo
    6’2″ 253 lbs
    33.75″ arms 9″ hands
    40 – 4.77 (1.65 10 yd split)
    short shuttle – 4.39
    3 cone – 6.84
    vert broad – 38″
    broad – 121″
    bp – 27

    35 games 162 tackles 33 tfl 20 sacks 5 ff 2 fr

so he got outperformed in the short shuttle but is on par in terms of 40 speed and the 3 cone. plus, he displays significantly more explosiveness than ingram looking at his vertical and broad jumps.

and most importantly he’s got a length advantage over ingram.

He didn’t play football until his sophomore year in high school, so it’s possible he will learn to be more than just a pass rusher.

that’s also interesting and something i did not know.

bobby wagner – highest rated linebacker by pff (rated #4 overall regardless of position) in 2017.

    6’0″ 241
    40 – 4.46
    short shuttle – 4.28
    3 cone – 7.10
    vert – 39.5″
    broad – 11′
    bp – 24

    48 games 445 tackles 28.5 tfl 4.5 sacks 4 int 2 pd ? ff ? fr

    micah kiser

    6’0″ 236
    40 – 4.66
    short shuttle – 4.24
    3 cone – 7.05
    vert – 35.5″
    broad – 10’1″
    bp – ?

    47 games 408 tackles 33.5 tfl 19 sacks 1 int 12 pd 8 ff 6 fr

micah doesn’t have the pure speed and explosiveness of wagner. but he seems plenty agile. also got an unusual amount of sacks. so wonder if he can contibute as a blitzer.

Kiser is an instinctive run stopper.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kiser starting day 1 next to Littleton or Barron.

yeah. it does sound like he fits more the ogletree role than the barron role.

i’m reading more and more about kiser. sounds like a big hitter. has forced a lot of fumbles in his career. physical. i wouldn’t be too surprised to see him start right away.

i think 2 starters is about the best one could hope for. and even that is far from guaranteed although i think noteboom and ogbo have as decent a chance as any third and fifth rounder can…

more importantly the rams have cooks and peters. that’s the big thing.
